Got to go to work, but first – more intolerance from America.

You may (or may not) remember seeing a story about two brothers who produced a TV reality show about doing up houses and selling them on. It was all set to go when the TV company producing the show dumped it because the brothers have views against gay marriage. Nothing to do with the show at all.

Now the bank that they deal with, and have always had high ratings with, has dumped them for most likely the same reason.

First they lost their television show. Now the Benham brothers say they are losing their business.

SunTrust Banks is cutting ties with would-be reality stars David and Jason Benham after liberal activists attacked them for their conservative views on abortion and gay marriage, The Daily Caller has learned.

In a statement provided first to TheDC on Friday, the Benham brothers confirmed that SunTrust Banks has pulled all of its listed properties with the Benham brothers’ bank-owned property business, which includes several franchisees across four states.

The move comes just a week after HGTV announced it was canceling a planned home renovation show hosted by the brothers.

“If our faith costs us our HGTV show and our business, then so be it,” said Jason Benham on Friday.

“We were caught off-guard with this one,” David Benham said of SunTrust’s actions. “Keeping us off television wasn’t enough, now this agenda to silence wants us out of the marketplace.”

The Benhams, in their statement, said the news came “without warning or explanation from SunTrust and took place over a 15 minute period” on Thursday. The Brothers said they have had a “mutually productive working relationship with SunTrust for many years” and hold a ”preferred broker” status with the bank.

The brothers said they contacted SunTrust, but bank employees declined to explain the reasoning for what happened.

    http://dailycaller.com/2014/05/16/exclusive-suntrust-cuts-business-ties-with-benham-brothers-after-conservative-views-attacked/

It’s happening more and more – you MUST hold the view that gay marriage is good, or else your business and livelihood will be attacked.

Evil talks about tolerance only when it’s weak. When it gains the upper hand, its vanity always requires the destruction of the good and the innocent, because the example of good and innocent lives is an ongoing witness against it.  So it always has been.  So it always will be. And America has no special immunity to becoming an enemy of its own founding beliefs about human freedom, human dignity, the limited power of the state, and the sovereignty of God. ~ Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia

Looks like those Benham brothers know a lot about attacking other people themselves and there was bit more to them than just “being against gay marriage”

Seeing those unemployable rent-a-mouths demonstrating yesterday makes one resolute in never doing a bloody thing to help any left-wing radical arsehole. There were some there that have never worked, living lives of envy and self-entitlement, thieving and ripping off taxpayers daily. I would like to see a real clean-out of beneficiaries, they were a majority, in most cases more than fit enough to work, as they can assault, steal, run, and dodge. One of our associates informed me he had finally got rid of his last unionised, lazy employee, and will never have another leech on his staff. He pays damn good wages, and conditions, yet this arsehole had gutless pommie union scum giving him a real hard time, fortunately his other staff didn’t agree, and this unionist, being in a small town, has found it better to move out.

Private interests jostling for slice of city
    ………………………………..

Councillor Mike Lee, who as chairman of the former regional council was instrumental in buying Queens Wharf in 2009 to become the “people’s wharf”, says foreign companies are eyeing public open space as easy pickings, unaware or insensitive to Aucklanders’ feelings about the waterfront.

Precinct’s management is jointly owned by Australia’s AMP Capital and Middle Eastern interests in Abu Dhabi, which also own 19 per cent of the company’s shares.

Precinct owns several buildings at the foot of Queen St, including the Downtown Shopping Centre, HSBC Tower at 1 Queen St and Zurich House. The square would complete a 4.6ha landholding for the property company.

The polls being kind to National appear to cement it as the party that will win the election. During my travels around Wellington it is obvious that as night follows day people expect a National govt after the election.

Cunliffe is not popular and the main gripe about him is his insincerity. No one trusts him as he does not tell the truth. A common theme is… I usually vote Labour but not this time as i do not trust the leader.

The other party in contention is the greens and they scare the hell out of people with their anti business loopy ideas.

Finally the NZ First horse looks to be scratched before the election owing to age and ill health.

Excellent column from Fran O’Sullivan this morning about:

    * the protestors who abused “bloated capitalists” yesterday, even though the Budget did precious little for said “bloated capitalists”, and
    * how Labour continues to misjudge John Key, to its peril.

Key has seen off Helen Clark, Phil Goff and David Shearer as Labour leaders, even though Labour thought he would be an easy-beat. There are no signs that David Cunliffe is going to get the better of Key any time soon, but Labour continues to misjudge and underestimate the PM.

At this rate, the only Beehive David Cunliffe is going to get anywhere near is the one in his Marine Parade back yard.

    hj – here’s the thing:

NZ has a ‘hard rump’ of a couple hundred thousand or so unemployable drop kicks who wouldn’t turn up on time or do the job right even if their dream glamour job in the film industry popped up right there in Kaikohe, and never will in spite of the fact the Left always go on about them wanting jobs. They don’t want jobs actually or they would be pulling tits in Southland instead of Filipinos and South Americans

Now, let’s say for arguments sake that ‘hard rump’ represented 5% of today’s population. The only way we can actually reduce that percentage, in a country that insists on continuing to hand out every type of assistance imagineable to these people, is by bringing in massive amounts of immigrants who will work, and who haven’t been brought up in a country like this with its indelibly imprinted entitlement culture.

Imagine if you will the NZ population doubling tomorrow, that 5% suddenly becomes 2.5% and that’s a lot easier to deal with. Their voice is smaller and as the rest of the country grows up and move on they are naturally sidelined. I don’t think it’s all some grand master plan though, just the human story, and Aesops Fable. Neanderthals never survived did they. There’s a lot of modern day Neanderthals in New Zealand and they will naturally be replaced long term

Not as evolved as we think

Lest you think you’re at the top of the evolutionary heap, looking down your highly evolved nose at the earth’s lesser creatures, Marlene Zuk has a message for you: When it comes to evolution, there is no high or low, no better or worse.

Zuk, a professor of ecology, evolution, and behavior at the University of Minnesota, took aim Wednesday evening at popular misconceptions of evolution, the human kind in particular. The biggest misconception, she said, is that the process is linear, with a beginning and an end, and that human evolution is progressing somehow from worse to better.

Evolution, rather, is the continual adaptation of organisms to their surroundings. When the surroundings change, those life forms poorly adapted to the new environment perish, while those it suits survive.

“There is no ‘progress’ in evolution. No living thing is trying to get anywhere,” Zuk said. “And humans are not at the pinnacle of the evolutionary ladder.”

    http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2013/04/not-as-evolved-as-we-think/

The implications of this reality are clear. If all our environment changed over time so all we had was murky water, evolution could see humans “evolve” into pond scum. The deciding factor is adaptation to the environment, or perish.

Humans are not like animals. They are animals.

Norman’s comments are an insult to those who he thinks can’t now remember the Green / Labour sabotage of power shares. Once the partial sale of assets were law then their actions in destroying the return to taxpayers is little short of betrayal to the economy they are now trying to convince us to allow them stewardship of.

Police speak to witnesses after an incident outside the Avondale Islamic Centre yesterday.

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was beaten up at an Auckland mosque.

Haider Lone, immediate past president of the NZ Muslim Association and administrator of the Avondale Islamic Centre, says he fears for his life as he believes the attack was an assassination attempt.

Yesterday, police and security were again called in as ugly scenes erupted at the Blockhouse Bay Rd mosque where two Islamic factions are fighting for control.

Security officers had to intervene to stop a worshipper from using a weapon to attack another man who turned up at the mosque border despite having been trespassed.

New Zealand Police Superintendent Wally Haumaha, who went to the centre after the incident, said police were working with the parties towards a “peaceful solution”.

IQ and a lot of other traits are normally distributed. If the problems are down to social policy that is another matter but immigration (worker substitution) isn’t the answer. It isn’t clear why Kiwis don’t want to pull tits in Southland, but Filipino’s have incentives Kiwis don’t. Last week it fell to a floundering professor, Jeremy Pearson, from the British Heart Foundation to explain why it still adheres to the nutrition establishment’s anti-saturated fat doctrine when evidence is stacking up to refute it. After examining 72 academic studies involving more than 600,000 participants, the study, funded by the foundation, found that saturated fat consumption was not associated with coronary disease risk. This assessment echoed a review in 2010 that concluded “there is no convincing evidence that saturated fat causes heart disease”…went on to warn that replacing saturated fats with excess carbohydrates – such as white bread, white rice and potatoes – or with refined sugar and salts in processed foods, should be discouraged. Current healthy eating advice is to “base your meals on starchy foods”, so if you have been diligently following that dietetic gospel, then the professor’s advice is troubling…It wasn’t so long ago that we were spoon-fed the unimpeachable “fact” that we should eat no more than two eggs a week because they contained heart-stopping cholesterol, but that gem of nutritional wisdom had to be quietly erased from history when research showing that cholesterol in eggs had almost no effect on blood cholesterol became too glaringly obvious to ignore. The consequences of this egg restriction nostrum were wholly negative: egg producers went out of business and the population missed out on an affordable, natural, nutrient-packed food as it mounded up its breakfast bowl with industrially processed cereals sold in cardboard boxes. But this damage was certainly less grave than that caused by the guidance to abandon saturated fats such as butter, dripping and lard, and choose instead spreads and highly refined liquid oils.

    http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/mar/23/everything-you-know-about-unhealthy-foods-is-wrong

The completely erroneous health message propagated by governments around the world for the last four decades is finally collapsing.

And when I say ‘message’, let’s not forget that some advocate enforcement at the point of a gun through taxation measures.

Their strident advocacy in fact resulted in global obesity as people switched away from fat and ate “healthier” foods instead, necessarily loaded with sugar to make the damn stuff palatable (not forgetting that carbohydrates are a form of sugar anyway.)

The harm these government ‘experts’ have done is incalculable; perhaps ultimately to be exceeded only by the equivalent global warming ‘experts’ who display precisely the same pathology.

Anyone who wants to lose weight simply needs to ditch the sugar and the carbs and eat more fat and protein. The pounds will just fall away.

How the supposed SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS is maintained:

‘Professor Lennart Bengtsson – the leading scientist who three weeks ago signalled his defection to the climate sceptic camp by joining the board of the Global Warming Policy Foundation – has now dramatically been forced to resign from his position.

…The Swedish climatologist, meteorologist, former director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg and winner, in 2006, of the 51st IMO Prize of the World Meteorological Organization for his pioneering work in numerical weather prediction…

I have been put under such an enormous group pressure in recent days from all over the world that has become virtually unbearable to me. If this is going to continue I will be unable to conduct my normal work and will even start to worry about my health and safety. I see therefore no other way out therefore than resigning from GWPF. I had not expecting such an enormous world-wide pressure put at me from a community that I have been close to all my active life. Colleagues are withdrawing their support, other colleagues are withdrawing from joint authorship etc. I see no limit and end to what will happen.

It is a situation that reminds me about the time of McCarthy. I would never have expecting anything similar in such an original peaceful community as meteorology. Apparently it has been transformed in recent years. Under these situation I will be unable to contribute positively to the work of GWPF and consequently therefore I believe it is the best for me to reverse my decision to join its Board at the earliest possible time.“‘

    Griff,

    ——————————————————————————————————–

Your postings on the subject of global warming are characterised by ignorance, dishonesty and worrying immaturity.

Your ignorance, for example, is demonstrated by your claim that the AGW theory is based on sound science, when in fact it relies totally on unproven claims about positive feedbacks which have never been observed in the real world. You also appear totally unaware of the fundamental fact that the debate is not binary but solely concerned with the level of climate sensitivity.

Your dishonesty has been proven again and again: from the time you unwittingly posted (and subsequently ignored) evidence demonstrating the lack of warming (and perhaps even cooling) in the Antarctic, through to you repeated posting about a supposed Arctic ice “death spiral” whilst totally ignoring the fact that Antarctic ice is at near record highs and, indeed, the global ice level in total is also around near record levels.
You have also repeatedly failed to address the fact that the signature which would identify anthropgenic warming from natural climate variation is entirely missing; thereby demonstrating that natural effects dominate. (Indeed, you unwittingly conceded the sceptical case recently when you blamed the complete absence of the promised warming on natural climate variation.)

Always remember, that promised global warming never happened. You are in the ludicrous position of defending a theory which is refuted by simply evidence.

If the AGW case was sound, you would not need to repeatedly lie, would you.

So ask yourself, why do you come here and lie and lie again, and then bluster that those who call you on your lies must believe in a conspiracy theory?

As for the immaturity, you claim to be a man of 50, yet just look back on your posts. You have never outgrown the school-yard. You give the impression of an uneducated and somewhat bitter blue-collar worker who feels that he deserved more and whose only means of compensating is through immature attention-seeking behaviour on the Internet.

    ——————————————————————————————————–

(The above section is a rubber-stamp which can be reproduced repeatedly as long as you insist on broadcasting your ignorance and stupidity in the same manner.)

A former NASA scientist has described global warming as “nonsense”, dismissing the theory of man-made climate change as “an unsubstantiated hypothesis.”

Professor Les Woodcock, who has had a long and distinguished academic career, also said there is “no reproducible evidence” that carbon dioxide levels have increased over the past century, and blamed the green movement for inflicting economic damage on ordinary people.

Professor Woodcock is Emeritus Professor of Chemical Thermodynamics at the University of Manchester and has authored over 70 academic papers for a wide range of scientific journals. He received his PhD from the University of London, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a recipient of a Max Planck Society Visiting Fellowship, and a founding editor the journal Molecular Simulation.

    http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/04/26/Former-NASA-Scientist-Global-Warming-is-Nonsense

Perhaps, Griff, you could explain why we should also axiomatically dismiss this professor’s opinion and knowledge?

Use as many smiley faces as you need.

And finally, no, NIWA hasn’t demonstrated anything. That was the whole point of the court case.

After NIWA published a review of the national temperature record (called “the Review”) in December 2010, the NZ Climate Science Coalition asked them how they adjusted the temperatures. What method did they use? It’s a reasonable question. If you knew that, you could try to replicate NIWA’s results. Replication is what science is all about.

They’ve waffled on for THREE YEARS that their method is “internationally recognised”. They even convinced a High Court judge, Justice Venning, who in his judgement intoned dutifully: “the methodology applied by NIWA was in accordance with internationally recognised and credible scientific methodology” .

NIWA presented not a single shred of evidence for that assertion

“Immigration hasn’t improved the NZ economy over the last twenty years ”
The problem is that the counter-factual cannot be demonstrated: the inevitable downward spiral the the NZ economy would have taken without immigration to counter many of the brightest and most dynamic Kiwis choosing to work and live abroad where there are obviously greater opportunities.

It is not a given that NZ should have Western standard of living.
    ………..

    7 Conclusion
The macroeconomic effects of immigration in New Zealand are uncertain. There are
plausible arguments but as yet no evidence for large positive or negative impacts of
immigration. Some economists and geographers argue in favour of high rates of
immigration on the grounds that migrants can boost productivity through scale,
agglomeration and innovation. In contrast, some macroeconomists argue that in a low
savings economy, the resource pressures associated with high migration put persistent
upward pressure on real interest and exchange rates, leading to a re-allocation of
resources from more productive tradable sectors to less productive infrastructure, and
    reducing productivity growth.

The lack of evidence is not symmetric. New Zealand has had high levels of inward
migration for 20 years now. Arguments for large positive effects invoke the possibility that
there are long lags, or that more positive effects will occur once some higher population
threshold is reached. In this case there is presently no evidence, but a possibility that
positive effects will eventually be reaped. In contrast, stylised facts such as real interest
rates that are high by international standards and a real exchange rate which has not
adjusted to the sustained deterioration in New Zealand’s relative productivity performance
are real and demonstrable, but cannot be definitively linked to migration policy.

Did’nt see Penny at the protest on Friday, otherwise you would have seen her kicking and screaming, being dragged to the paddy wagon, calling out the police are abusing me and wanting attention etc, etc !~
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

errrr…… I WAS at the protest outside Sky City on Friday, with 6 banners, which others helped to hold.

Was a rather different situation to the forced eviction from Aotea Square, where, as one of the Named Respondents, I was one of the two successful Appellants?

You could always check the FACTS for yourself – you might enjoy the experience – novelty factor – that sort of thing?

It shows the numbers but it does not explain or justify why they picked the amounts to adjust them by. They just have picked numbers. That is the point. They mentioned Salinger but do not provide any formula to justify why they picked the numbers. Sure it tricks people like you. I could just guess and put numbers I too. They don’t provide any scientific proof to back up why they chose the numbers they did.

It’s like the so called Peer Review. Sure it uses those words in the letter but the letter also describes what they didn’t do, which is exactly what you should have to do to complete Peer Review. Again it fools people like you but it’s not correct. As for your abuse you really are as demented as your dad. Now go and wipe his arse.

PG has attempted to carve out a niche as a craven pussy whipped man hating wimp, in order to gain access to women. The fact it fails miserably is lost on him and his particular species will die out.

Don the Kiwi, notice how we have no local comedy now. No shows taking the piss out of public figures and politicians ? It all came to an end under the cold bleak regime of the Klarkenbeast. It demonstrates how absurdly PC and brow beat we have become. The reason is the feminisation of our society. Women don’t – get – that type of humour. Its because they are mentally feeble narcissists. Women are great at making misery. The ancient Chinese were onto it with the Yin/Yang. The female energy is dark and depressive. The male is uplifting and life affirming. We balance each other out, but the balance is destroyed in our society.

When I was living in Oz through the ’80s, my Aussie mates just used to love and go into hysterics over Billy T, and Gadsby and McPhail. It was McPhail who cracked the joke, taking the piss out of Malcolm Fraser, that ” Malcom thinks that Mount Isa is an instruction. :-)
He also introduced the joke that ” malcolm thinks that inuendo is a new type of Italian suppository” :-)- went down hugely well with the aussies, and particularly the Italian descent guys.

I think that’s why John Clark went to Oz – he was, and I think still is – huge on political satire over there.

Operation American Spring falls flat: ‘This is very disappointing,’ Texan says

Operation American Spring, billed as a Friday morning multi-million patriot march on Washington, D.C., to oust leadership from the nation’s capital — from President Obama to House Speaker John Boeher — has proven woefully below expectations.

“It’s a very dismal turnout,” said Jackie Milton, 61, a Jacksboro, Texas, resident and the head of Texans for Operation American Spring, to The Washington Times. He said hopes were high when he arrived in Alexandria, Va., a day or so ago and found motels and hotels were sold out for 30 miles around.

But weather’s dampened turnout a bit, he said.

“We were getting over two inches of rain in hour in parts of Virginia this morning,” Mr. Milton said. “Now it’s a nice sunny day. But this is a very poor turnout. It ain’t no millions. And it ain’t looking like there’s going to be millions. Hundreds is more like it.”

That is no excuse for men to presume that they can hit on her in public, and muslim men in particular have the reputation for thinking they can rush off any woman to satisfy their sensual desires.

It is fairly common in strict muslim countries to have the offending member – like a hand for theft – lopped off. These arseholes should have their dicks lopped off and then castrated.

There’s no doubt that Muslim men hit on Western women & in this they are probably not different to any other bearer of X & Y chromosomes. It is the way they do it that causes offence & this can be sheeted home to their upbringing. From the word go they are in an home environment where woman are treated as second class chattels who’s modesty & virtue is more important than their right to live as humans.

Our correspondent “Dime” has worked with male Muslims in Aussie & I recall him describing them as misogynists & spoiled brats who expected their mothers & sisters to wait on them hand & foot. Because they’ve never had the backhanders they so richly deserve they consider all non muslim women as harlots begging for their attention.

Once again people. I am an atheist and the religious inspired behaviour of Muslims is shocking to me. One point I will raise though is that much of what you lot consider is due to religion is actually cultural. Women were treated like shit in Afghanistan long before Islam. The physical beauty or otherwise of a woman is not the only thing that attracts men – especially if they have any testosterone in them :-)
Its how they think, their beliefs and how strongly they hold them, and once you’ve met them, irrespective of physical appearance – which is only skin deep – is how you may or may not respond.

Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband’s absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband’s property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see illconduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.”

The practise is actually ordained & part of the faith.

nasska, stop being silly or I will have to bore everyone with equivalent bible quotes. Some pretty ugly stuff has been given biblical justification at various times.

The two police Glock pistols stolen from the New Plymouth courthouse were involved in the police shooting of Steven Wallace at Waitara 14 years ago, it has been confirmed.

Police were unaware the pistols were missing until one of them was found in the possession of a man arrested on methamphetamine charges last year.

Evangelicals Push Back Against Global Warming Doom

WASHINGTON – A group of evangelicals, comprised of scientists, economists and theologians, said the mainstream view of pending catastrophe caused by climate change is exaggerated. They made the claim at an event Thursday just days ahead of a key U.N.-sponsored climate change conference in Copenhagen.

The evangelical scholars argued that science, contrary to what many leading scientists claim, does not support the claim that increased CO2 in the atmosphere is having a negative effect on the earth.

The Holocaust’s untold heroes: Exhibit honors Albanian Muslims who saved Jews

Their story is rarely told, but Albanian Muslims took in fleeing Jews during World War II, saving thousands of lives.

When no other European country dared to withstand the wrath of Nazi Germany, it was the Muslims of Albania who saved a large number of Jewish people from extermination.

    ========================

Same deal in North Africa. Learn some history boy. The Croatian Jews sheltered with Muslims for sanctuary from the CATHOLICS.

Albanian Righteous Muslims Who Saved Jews During Holocaust
    by Richard Silverstein

It documents the Muslims of Albania and Kosovo who sheltered Jews during the Holocaust saving at least 2,000 lives. Not a single Jew died in all of Albania during the War.

As you can see all sorts of people of different creeds, faith and religions throughout Nazi occupied Europe sheltered Jews during the holocaust and not exclusively Muslim as seem to be suggesting,

Spitting on the Muslim clergy is not condoned by either the Israeli govt nor its religious leaders.

LOL :) Why do you always say that when the jew does wrong but never with the muslim ? With defenders like you it is no wonder Jews have been persecuted. OH WAIT… they were persecuted by people like you.
