This is interesting, a Decile 1 school with 90% achievement at NCEA 1,2, and 3, and 74% UE.

What stands out is that the school places great emphasis on pastoral care and has high expectations of the pupils.

This whole Kim Dotcom / Mana / Laila Harre debacle has made me seriously wonder at the thinking processes of this country’s inhabitants. The polls still show that on the other side of the house there is still, even now, 40 – 45% per cent support of a Labour Party bereft of workable policy or even a semblance of being all on the same page, a Green party that will certainly seek to destroy everything, the above mentioned scam and I don’t even want to describe Winston Peters. All hell bent on destroying a government that could hardly be described as tyrannically right wing, and has a racist party as a coalition partner!

This is why I chickened out of buying Meridian etc shares. When I looked at those numbers, it was just too big a risk. Maybe I will regret it in 25 years when we have 50% sensible Asians in Auckland who will have voted to wind back the welfare state, but I’ll be a very old man then – probably senile!

I discriminate when choosing my friends and who I work for and who I won’t.

Discrimination is a sign of logic, reason and intelligence.

According to one report, in Houston, men are now allowed to use women’s restrooms etc – all in the name of equality you know.
I can’t see anything going wrong with this policy, can you?

Lollies banned at Waikato Hospital! What about KFC for obese PIs in coronary care wards throughout NZ? I have seen this and it is bloody awful, not only do they make little effort to rehabilitate themselves, they eat crap all day, costing taxpayers a hell of a lot more than any other ethnicity. In some cases, they have been flown here from the Islands (at our expense), depriving those that have paid a lifetime of heavy taxes the opportunity for surgery.

This is a worrying article – UK Parliament comes to an effective end. “Europe has succeeded in subordinating the parliaments of its nation states, including the UK, to become the equivalent of local councils within a wider United States of Europe” ~ Wishart.

On the 1st November 2014 the right of Parliament to legislate over us in 43 areas, the important ones, will be removed and be made subject to approval. They call it QMV, Qualified Majority Voting.

Each member State will lose it right of Veto over these areas, so Cameron’s idea of negotiation to recover any areas goes out the window at the same time.

The following areas of competence will switch from requiring unanimous approval of all member states to qualified majority voting only:

Kowtow I picked this interesting comment up on that matter.

The “knock on the door” could well come about almost anywhere in the UK for those who dare to speak out about the evil of homosexual ideology[or Islam, in the form of a European Arrest Warrant.
This is an instrument of EU totalitarianism adopted by a “conservative” British government by which a British subject can be arbitrarily arrested anywhere in the EU member states for what may not be crimes in the UK, or indeed for the most trivial of reasons.
Gone is the presumption of innocence unless proved guilty in a court of law. Gone is habeas corpus (the uniquely British requirement to hold a person under arrest for a set period only, then charge via a magistrate, or release) – once the central pillar of justice under the Magna Carta for centuries.
Such a person can languish in a foreign gaol for months, without being formally charged, so is “punished” before guilt is established. Indeed many Brits have already experienced this travesty of justice.
Under the regime of the European Union the police state is already well advanced in the UK.
Fortunately the rise of UKIP (UK Independence Party) with astonishing results in the recent ‘Euro’ elections gives rise for hope that such gross injustices may yet be reversed.

doggone – Yes they were, but the finer things he enjoys came about by him buying and selling stuff (businesses, products, services etc). If people didn’t want what he offered, he would be still driving a tow truck or whatever it was he did. He enjoys the fruits of his own labours. He just made a crap load more fruit than me. Socialists want the fruits of other people’s labours because they are generally too lazy or stupid to grow their own.

I think National need to start the campaign right now before the GIMPs get too embedded. I was listening to Willie Jackson and Alison Mau and Chris Trotter yesterday on their liberal / hard left / unionist / racist show, and the number of numb-nut callers they had ringing in showing tacit approval of the Internet / Mana crock was astounding. Granted, the callers sounded like uneducated layabout whack jobs to a man – who has time to ring talkback? But come on guys, get started!

All the National Party strategists need to do is put up large billboards showing the differential between the last two terms of Labour and the first two terms of this government – in particular how much prices increased as opposed to now.

Unfortunately we have had similar type indoctrination of our councillors in this country. Treaty workshops all around the country spreading bias about the treaty. (and National goes along with it)

I have only heard of one councillor in Rotorua standing up against unelected race based seats on his council.Good on him .

Here’s an article all the insufferable JK fanboys who hang out at Kiwiblog need to read. I’ve been saying for sometime that staking NZ’s economic future on a relationship with the Chicom generals is a mistake.

We should only trade with our political allies, and trading with China today is tantamount to trading with Nazi Germany before WWII.

JK and the Nats are a bunch of weak blind fools and cuddling up to Communist China is one of the biggest mistakes they have made.

Unfortunately its not only the Nats who have engaged with the Chicoms. Most western countries have similarly reached out to these war mongering communists.

Readers here have to face the facts. All across the West, we have been badly betrayed by govts who stand as right wing, but act as left wing. National in NZ, the Republicans in the US and the Conservatives in the UK have all betrayed their founding principles and taken us far down the communist road.

The NZ’s govt fawning relationship with Red China is one of the worst examples of this betrayal. To stake NZ’s future on an economic pact with these totalitarian monsters is a reckless gamble that could easily end in real disaster.

Authorities said the first wife was killed six years ago.

For those who not familiar with Islam’s general response to the presence of Christian churches in their proximity we have the following news –
“At least 30 Christians were shot dead by Muslim rebels in an attack on a church in the war-torn Central African Republic, a pastor said.”We were in the church when were heard the shooting outside,” the Rev. Freddy Mboula of Notre Dame de Fatima in Bangui told The Associated Press. “There were screams and after 30 minutes of gunfire there were bodies everywhere.”

It appears to be a fact that Moslems cannot even abide Christians worshipping in the church. Christians don’t have to say anything in public, it’s just their presence and their worship that Moslems find intolerable.
That’s one more reason why “the religion of peace” cannot be allowed to gain a foothold in this country. It’s not that we Christians can’t tolerate them. Once in power they cannot tolerate us.

Had a friend ,very much private enterprise person, who went over there and came back so excited and full of enthusiasm .

It just doesn’t make sense placing so much emphasis on trading with a communist country and how come so many of them are millionaires ?

People are free to trade with China as individuals but I am talking about govts like the NZ govt gambling all of our future development on agreements with Communist country officials. They’re untrustworthy, corrupt and cronyist and also bent on buying political influence to expand global power. Its a mistake for NZ to rely on China as a major trading partner.

Secondly,China is currently focused on replacing the US as a major world power. Its increasing its political influence all over the globe with this objective. Should any democratic western country be actively engaged in assisting Communist China in this intent?

Bill English’s economic forecasts depend too heavily on trade with Communist China. We are basically their plaything, and what political and strategic concessions could they force from our govt under threat of cutting off trade?

Bottom line is they’re dangerous and untrustworthy people and we take a huge risk in making them our most favoured trade partner. The largely Asian issues talked about in the referenced article are only the tip of the iceberg. There’s much more going on behind the scenes in the South Pacific, the South Americas and Africa.

Thanks very much for that information. I will most certainly look at the Christian book website as I too am going back over algebra. The programme I have had for a couple of years, but I want to further the use and my knowledge of it as it is very powerful and robust for analyzing data.

‘Programming is really a combination of logic and language. Maths, being the ultimate in logic and language, goes far beyond what is necessary for programming.’ That’s a good way of explaining the differance – so I now mainly only have to learn maths that is necessary to the programming[AFL] – if I find I have to. That’s good as I can mostly now learn it from a programming point of view – than looking at it from the more difficult mathmatical point of view. Thanks again Lucia.

So, in typical bleeding-heart fashion, they flagellate themselves with guilt for not doing anything (that would have immediately gotten themselves and their families sent to the same camps).

Like a cancer, once the totalitarian apparatus is in place, you, non-state-party left-wingers or anyone (and their families) is a target for the state police to liquidate.

To quote that oldie but goody: “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” You have to kill the first few cells of a cancer; not wait until it metastasizes.

China may be on track to become the world’s largest economy.But it won’t make it.

One problem for China is state control of the economy and we know where that eventually and inevitably leads.

There are far too many problems for China to overcome to become a genuine world leading economy.Everything there comes down to Deng opening up to foreign investment back in the seventies.That was the key to the current boom.The underlying basis for a successful economy isn’t there. Democracy, private property rights,rule of law…….Now the major “investor” is not foreign capital but the party itself building infrastructure in China and abroad that isn’t strategic but more ‘make work” for the hordes who expect their current false standard of living to be maintained forever by the state.

Why is all the “smart money” in China going overseas? Even the Chinese elites don’t believe in China’s future as stable and assured.

There will be a “revolution of rising expectations” and when that happens it will turn very ugly for the Chinese people themselves and it will hurt economies such as ours who are over reliant on that market.

Make money now by all means, but diversify or die.

kowtow, any contention with China cannot be over their internal politics, there are just too many nations that have regimes of that ilk. However their regional bullying is not something that a nation with aspirations for the UNSC can ignore. If our words in support of solidarity with the little nations as a voice for them on that body are to have any meaning, as per international law, then we have to be on the side of other nations being subjugated in China’s quest for humiliating their neighbours to an order of Chinese regional hegemony.

Claiming uninhabited rocks in the sea are part of China and then claiming sea right up to the coasts of other nations is like nothing in the region since Japan in the 1930’s/1940’s.

Being silent in this matter is to sign up to being China’s imperial farm.

As per China’s economic future, they will surely become the largest economy.

While they have risk in the level of state direction (economy serving geopolitical goals), and a financial risk from politicised credit supply (both at central level and in loose management of lower level local body activity), there is sufficient self awareness and resulting common sense to balance that.

The once heralded Japanese rise was limited by a smaller population than the USA (and low population replacement and little immigration unlike the USA) and thus always overblown. China has some way to grow internally from wealth already generated externally, and a greater internal resource base than Japan. And its population is still growing, albeit moderated. Once they have raised living standards and more fully urbanised they will move to a 2 child policy (given most of the urban world is now choosing two child families).

So far the greatest risk to us from our Chinese farm role dependency is meeting Chinese import standards. Those companies unable to export to China will be bought up by those who can.

But local nitrate levels in our water are placing a limit on the level of dairy supply – the ambition is to increase it but environmentally the current level may be hard to sustain.

People who care about preservation of CHCH Cathedral have had over 3 years to fundraise, if they’d done that then today they might have been in a position to offer to buy the wreck from the Anglican diocese, and they would then have been free to pursue repair options.

But no… instead they preferred not to bother with any of that, but just whinged from the sidelines, telling the Anglicans how they should be spending their own funds on their own property. And then complaining some more when they were ignored.

I am sorry to see it go, but I have no time for those who have wasted the last 3 years whinging and opining that someone else should be fixing “their” cathedral for them. I’m sorry but there was an opportunity to do something and you’ve blown it.

Fletch, that was not a sharia law thing, it was simply the parents wanting to force their daughter to accept the arranged marriage they intended for her.

Arranged marriage is a widespread issue. It is a legacy of poverty – feeding the daughter is seen as a cost to develop “the asset” for sale – dowry paid to them by the husband. Like a fatted calf sent off to sale. Thus a fear that the asset would be ruined if not married off young before loss of virginity and pregnancy to a man of her choice.

The solution is

1. food security to the family
2. education to the daughter so she can earn money to support the family before marriage
3. contraception being available so having her remain unmarried is not a “shameful” pregnancy risk.
