As for the “racist” thing, I call BS on that. Hone is being ridiculed because of his links to KdC – not because he is Maori.

It would be racist (and *patronising*) to *not* ridicule or criticise Hone simply because he is Maori.

Don’t forget, John Key had Hone as part of HIS government rather than following nationals own policy of removing maori seats… when they could have governed without them. I just want to see them in government just to stick it to John Key and his socialist lite nationals and see the irony of maori seats bringing his socialist government down.

Um, Harawira is the racist. Don’t forget the ‘white motherf***ers’ outburst, and the fact he said he’d rather his offspring did not marry Europeans. I have it on good authority that Hone cruises round the Far North in his classy poor man’s Rolls, the Chrysler, spreading some pretty nasty shit.

Never forget that. I sincerely hope National bludgeon Labour with this potential bedfellow leading up to the election.

The guy is damaging to the country – under him we will have seen 18 years of Helen Clark’s socialism, he had a chance to stop that. At least if he gets out now then we get a chance to see it right sooner.

What a “coincidence” that Key and others at the National Party conference in Wellington made exactly this topic one of their main topics today? The coordination efforts between David’s Kiwiblog and the National Party are impressive, I must concede. But given the immense resources available to Internet Mana Party, I think, whether we like or dislike it, they are going to possibly break the 5 percent threshold, no matter what National Party propaganda may try to tell people.

Too many young and disaffected may just suddenly feel like sending a message this time, like Bob Jones did in 1984.

This election will be full of surprises, I think, and Key and English are right, that it is not a given, that National will win this election. Fasten your seat-belts, John Key fans!

Never in the last 30 years has so much wealth been spent by the state. At the time National criticized Labour for Big Government Socialist policies, National have not done anything to reverse those policies or the size of the state. The government makes up a huge proportion of the economy, it is far bigger than it was in 2005. National have also proceeded to increase tax on causes to advance social policy, it has banned legal alternatives to illicit drugs. Welfare spending has been redistributed, not dropped, welfare has even expanded into the private sector now. They have built an ungodly bureaucracy called the “Ministry of Business, Innovation and Enterprise” bursting at the seams with policy analysts and bureaucrats where the government chooses winners and losers in the form of selective government grants. We still have middle class welfare that national opposed vehemently in opposition. Working for families, kiwibank, kiwirail, Employment relations act all examples of poor government policy that national adopted with open arms.

The national party are whores to the polls with absolutely no underlying principal to speak off. Its better to start the extraction of the festering socialist cancer now than to let it grow even more. The parties that sit further to the left of national are going to get in eventually, and if it isn’t now it will be next election where they will likely get in with a landslide and be in for several terms. Get rid of national this year, then labour\greens in the following 3 years and we can then have a center\center right government.

Like it or not, if you vote national you are a “red” blooded supporter of Helen Clarks policies.

I think that there have been perversions of our Justice system and the expectation of being able to pervert our politicians (that still has more to come (imo) when extradition to the US takes centre stage.

Anyone that thought Schmidt was a benevolent Santa Claus should have had a reality check. Both of those pictures do not portray my take on it. No fool should consider Schmidt as Schultz nor as Hone’s bitch.

I think you’re wrong. The core issue is about the role of money in politics fullstop. Anybody entity or person which makes a donation to any political party or lobby group which seeks to influence policy should have be named and listed as a matter of public record.

I’m just going by what has occurred overseas in particular the US where corporate and special interests funnel millions of dollars to lobby groups and Political Action Committees get their favoured candidates elected and enable them to adjust the legislative and regulatory frameworks for their benefits. It really comes down to the kind of democracy you want, one dominated by money or run for the benefit of the electorate.
