Beyer for Mana

July 28th, 2014 at 2:00 pm by David Farrar

The Herald reports:

Fomer Labour MP will stand for the in , saying she was doing so partly to atone for voting for the Foreshore and Seabed Act in 2004.

Ms Beyer was New Zealand’s first trans-sexual MP, serving under Labour from 1999 to 2007. She has struggled with kidney disease since last year but said her health was now steady and she was looking forward to a new challenge.

“When approached about the role, there were a few things to consider as there always are. Taking on this role is my way of making amends to Maori for voting for the foreshore and seabed bill which I was forced into and which totally broke me.”

No one was forced. Tariana showed integrity and left over it.

Beyer’s biggest achievement in politics was getting elected in the first place. I can’t recall any particular legislative or parliamentary achievements.

She won’t win Te Tai Tonga, but will be interesting to see how she goes.

Te Tai Tonga will be a very difficult electorate for Beyer to try and cover. Maybe Mana have the finance to try but it will be hard work.

When I read this I wondered if Dotcom’s salaries carried over to Mana candidates? Since leaving Parliament she has been complaining about not getting government appointments and living modestly on welfare.

Taking on this role is my way of making amends to Maori getting a $150k job which is great because I’m unemployed

Actually Georgie, just going away entirely was a good way to make amends to Maori for letting them down. I don’t think Maori need any more noble sacrifice from you.

Well as a sickness beneficiary to an MP’s salary she will collect close to half a million dollars over three years if she gets across the line.

And unlimited sick leave while she is on dialysis.

Maybe a jump up the queue for a new kidney on the waiting list too.

My only memory of Beyer was her screeching insults in the Destiny Church marchers face about them being Nazi’s and then in a rather surreal scene was telling the news camera’s how much she was intimidated by them.

Sadly for Miss Beyer she has a serious illness. I just cannot see how she could possibly do the job of MP let alone campaign effectively. It just make me annoyed that her condition is convenient. She is seriously unwell for some purposes but not for others.

The media will view Beyer as yet another political sacred cow, given her taonga status as a member of the rainbow brigade. Any criticism of her will be slated as homophobia irrespective of how feeble she was as a Labour MP or how loopy her current views may be. Sadly gays, lesbians and the various other permutations are pretty much beyond media reproach or even objectivity in 21st century New Zealand.

I can just see the whinging to the Speaker for the installation of a dialysis unit within Parliament so that Georgie can hot foot it down to the lobby to vote.

“If it is OK to make special provision for a deaf person it must be OK for someone on dialysis” goes the argument. Can’t wait.

Further proof that being a NZ politician at the blunt end is an easy way to earn a living. While NZ has one of the lowest MP’s per 100,000 people I reckon we have overdone the representation thingy so that all sorts of obscure minorities are trying to get elected. The cut off should be 99 or even smaller, I’m thinking 70 MP’s.
There just isn’t anything left for someone like Beyer to contribute because NZ is a very just society in the 21st century and there just isn’t the causes that need to be fought for that there used to be.

You know, I have really missed parliament since my untimely departure…maybe IM is the way back! I’ve just got a new computer, I own a smartphone (but haven’t yet learned to do anything with it that I didn’t with the ‘dumb’ one)…and I know how to use the interweb…sort of…I cant speak Maori but I know a bit of Tongan…that might help do you think?

But since Sykes Minto and Hone the Racist are “officers” in that outfit, I don’t somehow think I would be officer material…

Actually, if he wants to attain the same intellectual status as the rest of Mana, he would definitely need one.

Don – I was merely suggesting a low cost (but rather painful) way of achieving a lobotomy if DG felt it was a necessary requirement for him to join IM.

Personally I think the IM requirements are far harsher. We’ve already seen Dotcom delete a sexist tweet at Harre’s insistence, so thats a castration requirement added, and I don’t know what the medical term is for supposed “people of principle” (even those I don’t agree with) selling their souls

I’ve just been hauled up by a down vote for characterising Beyer as a tansvestite. Stop being so prissy. Having your cock cut off does not make you a woman any more than having your tits cut off makes you a man. I have no issue with whatever Beyer chooses to do with its body but it is not a woman as they have fallopian tubes.

And my view would be exactly the same if it was standing for the party I support. It is not political (nor religious for that matter).

    Holly came from Miami F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
