NZ First promises trains almost no one uses

The Herald reports:

A $300 million cash swap from roads to railways is at the heart of New Zealand First's transport for the election, including restoring the Gisborne-Napier line, and looking at extending the line to Levin and into .

The Gisborne to Napier line had basically no passengers and freight volumes dropped 75% in the few years before it closed. would be akin to puring money down the drain.
