French Minister says women have a duty to wear bikinis at the beach!

August 24th, 2014 at 1:00 pm by David Farrar

The Herald reports:

It is a French woman’s duty to wear a on a beach, says the former minister for families, Nadine Morano.

Ms Morano, 51, provoked a political row yesterday by complaining that she had seen a Muslim woman sitting on a French beach in headscarf, long-sleeved tunic and trousers while her husband stripped off and bathed in the sea.

“When you choose to come to a country of secular laws like , you have an obligation to respect our culture and the liberty of women. Or you go somewhere else,” Ms Morano wrote on her Facebook page.

I never realised bikinis were compulsory in France!

I am pro-bikini but as a classical liberal I do not support it being mandatory :-)

She could probably look good in a bikini!

Being French maybe it’s a ploy to challenge her husbands lover? :)

I have often said the clash between the civilised world and Islamism is about the bikini vs the burqa. It’s a nice line because of the alliteration, but the point is the civilised world things both should be voluntary whereas the Islamist world thinks women should be stoned for wearing one and forced to wear the other.

I love the idea of Bikini’s on European chicks. Bikini’s on the average Kiwi chick….not so much. A pear does not look good in a bikini.

I watched a nice Bikini slip into a spa pool last night – it just wouldn’t have been the same if she was wearing a burka.

Still the abnormal obsession -fixation continues ( 10 years he has attacked me) yawn yawn.. This hateful sewer rat bigot blouse continually stalks me whether I comment or not. This thread is about bikini’s, however the deranged one twists it around to have a go at me. And people defend this creep who shows all the signs of a mentally unbalanced narcissist. This place needs a resident psychiatric adviser.

New Zealand people might be a great deal healthier if they wore ling sleeves and trousers, plus a hat or headscarf, when they were on the beach.
It should reduce the incidence of melanoma and other less lethal forms of skin cancer if they did. As it is we have one of the highest levels n the world.
It wouldn’t seem the same though.

I think we need a commission to determine whether a burka or a bikini is required on a woman per woman basis……

I respect France for their insistence that people observe their rules if you go there. If we go to Qatar or Bahrain we can be beaten for kissing a chick or holding their hand then expelled, so if a Qatari citizen goes to France, they should be told they need to do what they are told, or leave.

When it’s 40 degrees in parts of the world, and one sees guys in shorts and their wives in burkas, it feel like abuse to me. The French Ministers point of course, is not that bikinis are compulsory, but that burkas at the beach and in hot climates are inappropriate – I agree.

Hot climates like the Middle East? Good luck with that.

Actually JeffW long dress is very suitable in extremely hot climates.
Have a look at what Arabs wear in places like Saudi Arabia. They have on those long, flowing, ankle-length robes. People I know who have lived there tell me they are cooler that wearing less clothing. Certainly they aren’t (at least the men) wearing them for religious reasons.

BTW, the post didn’t say anything about burqas: ‘headscarf, long-sleeved tunic and trousers’
Trousers on a woman – how un-Islamic can you get!

Rather he is trying to lump them altogether and call them uncivilised. So he himself looks uncivilised, unfortunately for NZ. Maybe the many women doctors in Iran will ask for more sun exposure for vitamin D. See if anyone responds to me here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiYFnKmoAiA

So where are all the “feminists” in this? All banging-on about so called glass ceilings in the workface. Good grief, women in many Islamic countries are killed for wanting a job at all. Where is the outrage that body-bagged Muslimas sit on the sand in their hideous body-bags while their husbands strip off and frolic in the sea. Why are they not frothing about honour killings and the chopping off of females genitals? I could go on but I expect you get the drift. A pox on feminists and the PC lot in general. They are either brainwashed or cowardly.

This is an about face from the 1960’s. St Tropez (on the French Riviera) decided to have a crackdown on skimpily dressed beach visitors and asked out of town gendarmes to help enforce it. A Giles cartoon showed a local gendarme with a firehose holding back a crowd of would-be volunteer gendarmes and one British policeman.

If these “followers of peace” can’t assimilate with their new country’s standards, then best they stay where they are, they must prefer their current surrounds. We don’t want them, don’t need them, and can’t afford them . . . they only immigrants to demand two toilets in their houses, funded by already overtaxed locals.

They’re like speedos or nude beaches. Why is it that some people who do not suit swimwear feel compelled to wear them? And why are most nudists so elderly and wrinkled in places that make me feel profoundly grateful for pixel use on telly?
