    10 August 2014:

Winston Peters ‘Two Wongs Don’t Make A Right!’ (White? Whyte?)

    Classy, Winston.

Three things need to happen here:

1: The media, in particular Tova O’Brien and Guyon Espiner, need to stop trying to be the new clergy. WTF do they think they are doing, making a big deal of it? That’s what he wants!
2: Dame Susan Devoy needs to condemn the remark, then resign along with the entire commission due to being utterly pointless, an unnecessary cost to the taxpayer and ineffectual.
3: Colin Craig needs to call Winston a racist old fool, and use it to differentiate himself and his party from NZ First.

The opposition to remarks like ‘two wongs’, is not PC gone mad, it’s probably opposition to lame old 20th century post war boorishness. Who makes jokes like that anymore? You’ve got to be a little bit more clever with your casual racism these days.

15 years into the social revolution bought to us by the Labour-National party, I’m not surprised to see an article like this now in our newspapers which state that “Language experts are in shock”

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/10368912/Migrant-report-stuns-linguists

What are they in shock you about you may ask?

They are in shock because the government SUGGESTS migrants should learn English to better integrate into New Zealand society…. No forcing, no language requirements to gain entry to the country, just shock that the government might suggest you learn the language of the host nation so that the immigrant might be able to be more successful in the country.

It really puts pay to the Labour-National party line that we only let in those of “high quality” who have the skills we desperately need.

If you keep voting for the 2 different versions of the Labour-National party, keep watching their progressive philosophy ratchet up year, by year until the train reaches it’s final destination.

    Styen notes:
“Have any of my somewhat unsatisfactory roster of New Hampshire Senate candidates said anything about their constituents’ bagpipe seizure? America has a two-party system in which one party is committed to making things worse and the other party isn’t committed to making things any better.

Sounds a bit like New Zealand doesn’t it?

The truth is this is how liberty dies, with a thousand cuts, day after day after day. Bill Clinton famously said, “The age of Big Government is over”. And in a sense he’s right: This is an age of small, itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny government, in which nothing is too inconsequential (i.e. infinitesimaly small blood/alcohol levels) and trivial (i.e. paddling pools or plain packaging)not to command the attention of the government enforcers – until, cumulatively, all the itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny government adds up to the biggest government ever seen.

Wang, the most popular surname in Auckland

Published: 7:30PM Sunday August 10, 2014 Source: ONE News

Top five surnames in Auckland, 2013:

    1 – Wang

    2 – Li

    3 – Chen

    4 – Liu

    5 – Smith

Massey University migration expert, shill Paul Spoonley, says its a reflection of the diverse immigration into the country.

“The old Anglo-Saxon names like Smith are just being swamped, if you like, by the arrival of these new migrant communities.”

Outside of Auckland European names still dominate but Mr Spoonleysays this could change in the future.

“India and China have big talent pools and we need their talent. They bring skills with them, so it’s part of reality for New Zealand.”

    50
Successful economies can absorb large numbers of immigrants while sustaining high per
capita incomes, as demonstrated by the experience of New Zealand in the 19th century.

However, strong economies also perform well without immigrants: the US economy
performed well around 1900 with strong immigration, and also performed well in the 1920s
    with more restricted immigration.

Factor price equalisation is still relevant as economies and markets evolve. However,
today skilled labour is not scarce relative to other factors in New Zealand, or relative to other developed countries.
By OECD standards New Zealand is a strong performer on
hours and participation, and weak on total factor productivity (TFP) growth; for developed countries there is a negative relationship between TFP growth and growth in total hours
    37
worked. New Zealand also has relatively low wages, and high emigration of skilled labour. These circumstances do not suggest a shortage of labour relative to other
resources, so there are unlikely to be large positive benefits to New Zealand from factor
    38
    equalisation from increasing labour supply.

    http://www.treasury.govt.nz/publications/research-policy/wp/2014/14-10
And the big news is (shock, horror) WP uses the Two Wongs don’t make a White joke in response to the but Labour sold more farmland to foreigners than we did.

Logically, Shanghai Pengxin’s products will leave the country at the lowest possible price and the lowest possible level of sophistication so it can capture the maximum profit in China. For example, Shanghai could export its milk powder at commodity prices and blend them into highly valuable infant formula in China.

This model is how our primary sector now operates. For example, some 80 per cent of Fonterra’s sales are whole milk powder. It does make some infant formula. But vastly more of that is for foreign companies under their brands than for sale under its own.

Stunning evidence for this came two years ago when Pfizer of the United States sold its human nutrition business to Nestle for US$12 billion. The bulk of the business was infant formula and its prize asset a large share of the branded market in China.

Fonterra remains a substantial manufacturer of infant formula for the business now owned by Nestle. But its only reward is a toll fee for processing. Its farmer-shareholders’ only reward is the commodity price for the milk the sell to their co-op.

The red meat industry differs only in one big respect. While an excellent cut of meat attracts a high price in a foreign supermarket, the upside is far less than dairy companies enjoy with infant formula. But that point is largely irrelevant. Our meat processors capture little of the value they create for others.

This commodity trap is deeply rooted in our psyche and our economy, as the World Economic Forum proves in its annual competitiveness ranking of countries. One of its criteria is competitive advantage, with countries ranked on a scale of one (low cost natural resources) to seven (unique products and services). We score 4.1, ranking us 36th in the world.
It also ranks value capture from one (role in the value chain is mainly confined to one step such as resource extraction) to seven (involved all the way down the value chain, capturing extra value along the way). We score 3.8, ranking us 58th.

Some people will say: “Oh, well, we might as well approve some more foreign investment deals. They are small and won’t change things much.”

But things are changing fast. Previous dairy farm sales to the likes of US and German investors have had little impact because they sell their milk to NZ processors. The processors, in turn, still have the opportunity to do something more valuable with it, even if they are ineffectual at doing so.

Now, however, foreign buyers are increasingly seeking to create vertically integrated businesses.

That is totally different. Christians aren’t threatening to actually physically kill you now if you don’t convert. Those scriptures you quote are largely about the afterlife and the decision of what will happen to you is based upon your choice right now.

If I told you that you had a choice between swimming in a crocodile infested lake, or a heated swimming pool, which would you choose? Well, you have the same choice as regards where you want to spend the afterlife. And Christians are telling you about it – warning you about it – giving you the choice – right now. You can do whatever you want.

So is reporting the collaboration between Zionists and Nazis anti-semitism or is it legitimate criticism?

    Here’s the content again:

Attacking Key on these issues achieves nothing other than to draw attention away from the real problem. The problem is bigger than Key or the National party, and relates to the collaboration between the Zionists and the Nazis in the establishment of the Zionist state in Palestine.

    http://www.truetorahjews.org/lieberman

It would be wishful thinking if it could be stated that the leaders of the Zionist movement sat back and ignored the plight of their dying brothers and sisters. Not only did they publicly refuse to assist in their rescue, but they actively participated with Hitler and the Nazi regime. Early in 1935, a passenger ship bound for Haifa in Palestine left the German port of Bremerhaven. Its stern bore the Hebrew letter for its name, “Tel Aviv”, while a swastika banner fluttered from the mast. And although the ship was Zionist owned, its captain was a National Socialist Party (Nazi) member. Many years later a traveler aboard the ship recalled this symbolic combination as a “metaphysical absurdity”. Absurd or not, this is but one vignette from a little-known chapter of history: The wide ranging collaboration between Zionism and Hitler’s Third Reich. In early January 1941 a small but important Zionist organization submitted a formal proposal to German diplomats in Beirut for a military-political alliance with wartime Germany. The offer was made by the radical underground “Fighters for the Freedom of Israel”, better known as the Lehi or Stern Gang…

A simple question disproves the critics. How can it be that more than 2,200 rockets of all kinds have been fired at Israeli population centers since July 8, but there have been so few casualties?

Because they are pathetic little things as far as rockets go, causing plenty of alarm when the sirens go off but little impact damage.
In the population centers people have got time to find cover.

Well Griff I happen to agree with you on that topic. My point was that there are a lot of posts from various sides that people disagree with. That’s just the nature of a blog which tolerates a high degree of free speech. Sometimes I think that tolerance goes too far, but that’s up to David, not myself or you.

“By the way the post as quoted was peddling a bronze age superstition about sky fairy’s afterlife haven and hell.. ”

Well that’s just your opinion Griff, though it’s technically incorrect. Most of the statements concerning Heaven and Hell are in the New Testament, which was not written in the Bronze Age, nor was it written by goat herders.

Thank goodness the ever-pragmatic Japanese don’t allow themselves to get wrapped up in this kind of nonsense.

Quote: “Under Article 809(1) of the Civil Code, individuals sharing a common ancestor in their paternal lineage, no matter how far back in time, may not marry. In contrast, under Article 815, as long as a couple does not share a common ancestor in their maternal lineage within four generations, they may marry. Introduced into Korean society with Confucianism in the fifteenth century during the Chosôn dynasty, the principle was established during China’s Han dynasty, and gradually weakened until it was abolished by China’s Qing dynasty at the turn of the century.

Given that there are only 274 Korean family names, 43% of which are Kim, Lee, or Park, the intra-clan marriage ban has been a serious problem. Based upon statistics gathered by Lee’s Korea Legal Aid Center for Family Relations, an estimated 300,000 couples have defied the ban.
