The head of the ‘islamic studies’ department at Auckland University, Dr Ali, has called for a sharia banking system
to be established in New Zealand for muslims.

Didn’t know anything about Islamic banking systems – just had a very quick look, but from what I’ve seen…
Genuine question – if banks operating on such a system, available to anybody, were established, why would such an alternative be a bad thing?

Genuine question. would Epsom voters be better to vote for Christine Rankin and cut ACT loose. 3.5% of the vote v 0.4% of the vote or in terms of seats 4 or 5 v 1

Act looks highly unlikely to get more than 1 candidate in. The conservatives are managing to get some traction towards the 5% and I cannot see them causing too many issues for Key if they got in albeit that their policies are a bit nuts and I am no fan of Colin Craig. Then again I am not warming to Jamie Whyte either.

Judith: Regarding the UK’s nuclear arsenal, it’s all stored on submarines that happen to use the naval base at Faslane for their dock. In the event of a YES vote, all they have to do is slip thier moorings and sail to one of the english naval bases (e.g. Portsmouth), and England has control of its arsenal again.

It will still be Great Britian, as that is the geographical term used to describe the british archipelago, the name of the political nation that currently occupies that is the United Kingdom (technically, the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland).

In the event of a YES vote, perhaps we’ll have to start calling it the Dis-united Kingdom…

I get the feeling that Obama would still be defending Islam even if he were up against the wall with a gun at his throat about to be shot my a Muslim: “But, you can’t shoot me! Islam is a religion of peace! You don’t really mean it.”

At this point, I do not think anything can lift his blinders.

Because that would be a major change to our established system done solely to appease the demands of muslim
immigrants. (we need immigrants who, while keeping their own traditions, adapt to the Kiwi way, not ones who
arrive here and begin to agitate for us to change our culture to adapt to their particular relgious beliefs.)

And, that would be the thin end of a wedge that leads to demands that sharia law be established and a seperate culture within a culture be created here just for muslims.

Putting it simply SGA we need muslim immigrants like we need a hole in our head.
Can you think of any reason that they will benefit our country ?

We already have 2nd generation muslims with NZ passports going to Yemen to attend terrorist traing camps. (John Key has confirmed that fact)

Look around SGA and see if you can find one western country where muslim immigration has proved to be a success.

Bleading heart types insist that our experience with muslim immigrants will be different than all other western countries
because we ‘celebrate and embrace them’ more than any other country. This is just PC bullshit.

We need immigrants who will help build this country and embrace our values not muslims who arrive here and demand that we change to suit theirs.

Actually, I was asking whether there was anything about islamic banking systems, in and of themselves, that would cause problems? As I said, I don’t know a lot about them, hence the question (which I thought was reasonably clear at the time).

If ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas (or any other Muslim extremists) really have nothing to do with Islam, then why don’t so-called moderate Muslims denounce them and their acts? Instead, after 9/11 the TV showed Muslims in different countries dancing in the streets and handing out sweets to one another in celebrations of Americans killed.

Yes, there are Muslims who haven’t been radicalised yet but (according to some) they are not really following the Koran.

John Kerry also said this the other day in a speech –

ISIL claims to be fighting on behalf of Islam but the fact is that it’s hateful ideology has nothing do with Islam.

See, I don’t believe it. He is acting as an apologist. It’s worth noting that any reference to Islam, Muslims, or Jihad has been scrubbed from all military training material and anything to do with terrorism. The Administration is bending over backwards so as not to be seen to be causing offence to Muslims. It’s like they can’t stand the thought of even mentioning it. Remember the shooting at Fort Hood in 2009 when a soldier started shouting Alahar Ackbar and shooting his fellow soldiers? Turned out he had been radicalized. Well, the Obama Administration to this day refers to it as “workplace violence”. They won’t call it a terror attack, or Jihad, or anything to do with Islam although it clearly was.

At this rate America is going to politically correct itself into the grave because of its great fear of offending.

Dear Inspector-General,

This is a formal request for you to please ensure that your current “in-depth and robust inquiry” into claims Security Intelligence Service (SIS) information was used for political purposes covers the underpinning role of the Office of the Prime Minister.
(if it does not already do so).

My full name is Penelope Mary Bright.

DISCLOSURE: I am currently standing as an Independent candidate in the Helensville electorate.

BACKGROUND:

In 1981 I was publicly named in Prime Minister Robert Muldoon’s famous SIS list as a ‘subversive’ arising from my role in organising opposition to the Springbok Tour.

I have never been able to get a copy of my SIS file, although I have not been a member of any politically active party for over 30 years, and have no history of violent offending.

I was also unable to get it confirmed or denied whether I was one of the 88 New Zealanders upon whom the GCSB unlawfully spied.

My work experience includes having been a Quality Assurance Co-ordinator at a stainless steel fabrication plant, which has given me a good grasp of ‘process’ and planning.

So – why I’m writing to you is to express my strongest concerns about the apparent total failure of quality assurance systems and processes at the highest levels of the New Zealand Government, in particular, the Office of the Prime Minister, which appears to be completely ‘out of control’.

According to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) website, the roles of the DPMC and Office of the Prime Minister, are supposed to be quite different and ‘totally separate’.

Issues that arise across the full range of government business

DPMC provides a continuous flow of advice to the Prime Minister on major and daily issues, along with oversight of wider government activity and access to information and assessments. DPMC also works directly with Ministers on specific issues. The Deputy Prime Minister plays a lead role on behalf of the Prime Minister over a number of the government’s policy programmes and DPMC supports him on some of these matters from time to time.

DPMC works with central agencies to draw together departments in support of the Government’s priorities, to focus agencies on providing options for action, to ensure implementation of agreed programmes and policies, to drive for enhanced agency performance, and to deal effectively with issues which affect the nation. DPMC also provides the secretariat support for decision making by the Cabinet and its committees.

Administrative support to the Prime Minister
This includes preparation of replies to Parliamentary questions, and dealing with Official Information Act requests and other correspondence.

A totally separate body, the Office of the Prime Minister, also advises the Prime Minister: it is the primary point of responsibility for managing political issues and relationships with other political parties and for providing administrative and media support.

In brief, as I understand it, the Prime Minister has two roles, one as the Leader of the New Zealand Government, and the other as the Leader of ‘party political’ National Party.

In his role as Leader of the New Zealand Government, the Prime Minister has the DPMC, to provide top level, impartial, apolitical advice on a range of matters, including those related to security.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) serves the Executive (the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet) through the provision of high quality impartial advice and support services…

The Office of the Prime Minister, the role of which is apparently not covered by statute or regulation, is deeply ‘politically partisan / party political’, to help cover the Prime Minister as Leader of the National Party.

It is my considered opinion, that it is fundamentally wrong for the politically partisan ‘Office of the Prime Minister’ to have dealings with the SIS, at any time.

In my considered opinion, if the SIS is in direct contact with the ‘party political’ Office of the Prime Minister – then the role of the SIS has become ‘politicised’ – end of story.

In my opinion, for whatever reason, clear lines of demarcation between the roles of the DPMC and Office of the Prime Minister are effectively non-existent.

Not only is the role of the Office of the Prime Minister not subject to statute or regulation, it also lacks procedures and protocols, as is clearly stated in the attached OIA reply from Wayne Eagleson, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister.

(Why anyone from the Office of the Prime Minister, including the Chief of Staff Wayne Eagleson is answering Official Information Act requests, is also a real matter of concern, as it is NOT his job, as i understand it.)

I am not sure whether your ‘terms of reference’ into the current inquiry which I understand you launched at your own initiative, extend to covering the role of the Office of the Prime Minister, but in my considered opinion, if they don’t – they should, because therein lies this apparently deep-seated problem.

Which is – in my considered opinion – that the Office of the Prime Minister is completely out of control.

If the role of the Office of the Prime Minister is not set by statute or regulation – then that needs to change – URGENTLY.

FYI, following is a ‘MEDIA ALERT’ which I sent out yesterday on this matter:

YES according to this OIA reply, received today 11 September 2014, by Prime Minister John Key’s Chief of Staff, Wayne Eagleson: (attached)

3) Copies of the ‘procedure’ or ‘protocol(s)’ to be followed by all staff attached to or employed by the Office of the Prime Minister.

There are no specific procedures or protocols to be followed by Ministerial office staff.

4) A copy of the organisational ‘flow chart’ (or the like) which shows the clear reporting framework to be followed by all staff in your Office of the Prime Minister.

There is no organisational chart for this Office and, accordingly, this part of your request is formally declined under section 18(e) of the Official Information Act “that the document alleged to contain the information requested does not exist or cannot be found”.

5) A copy of the budget for your Office of the Prime Minister, with a clear breakdown of monies paid by whom, for what, on an annual basis from 2008 – 2014.

There is no separate budget for the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Department of Internal Affairs has a budget for all Ministerial offices as a whole, but not for individual offices.

However, I can confirm that all staff in this Office report to me as the Chief of Staff for both the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the Leader of the Parliamentary National Party.

As some one who has never been able to get a copy of my SIS file, and could not get it ‘confirmed or denied’ that I was one of the 88 New Zealanders upon whom the GCSB unlawfully spied upon, I am REALLY concerned with the revelations contained within this OIA reply.

This beautifully-written piece from The Occidental Observer was actually posted a year ago but circumstances have made it very relevant today. Some of you out there may not know about this, but the Brits certainly will. In a small town in the north of England it’s come to light that, over a period of about fifteen years, around 1400 children (in this case between 11 and 16 and mainly girls) have been systematically sexually abused. In many cases the abuse took the form of ‘grooming’ often involving drugs and alcohol and in some cases was accompanied by physical coercion and torture.

These goings-on were well known to local government officials and to police but nothing was done. In nearly all the instances, the victims were white and the abusers were Pakistani muslims.

This morning in the UK, the media is full of this story with the question being asked why nothing was done and the suggested answer being that, because of the ethnicities of the abusers and the abused, it was feared that to deal with the issues might offend racial and ethnic sensibilities. When the piece was first posted, I commented that it would be read as highly controversial in the UK (though possibly less so in the US). But whatever your feelings about the issues, the opinions in this excellent essay deserve to be heard – and never more so than today.

Now an excerpt from the same said speech which the former President contradicts this and agrees with you and Fletch.!

As for your quotes from the Koran. Again some context would be most useful. ?As you would appreciate so very easy to do the same ithe the Bible re the Old testament on punishments for non believers and enemies of Yahweh .!

Quotes from the koran are quotes from the koran. That is the context. Simple really.

That is the word of God as given by God directly to the Archangel Gabriel and passed on to mohammed who dictated

Cmon matey.

The Conservatives taxation concept is not new and does not expect to be implemented in one term. Sir Roger Douglas actually pioneered the idea as he did the Act party as you know. His idea also called for a packaged concept and staged reduction in taxation with zero company tax. That idea is still the best on the planet of NZ in my view.

Sir Roger is such a great man. The Arthur Lydiard of NZ politics.

I cannot understand why Chris and Brian weren’t encouraged to disappear along with other the destructive failed operatives then get Sir Roger back to rescue the party fortunes with Jamie. There is always next election if the party doesn’t make it this time.
