Cunliffe said this morning on NEWSTALKZB that New Zealanders should expect their government to honest and accountable.

I would have then asked,

1,Why did you have secret trusts?
2,Why do you employ bloggers in your advisory group?
3,Why don’t you reveal who are your secret donors?
4,Arent you open to blackmail from accepting money without disclosure and how can the public trust this isn’t happening?
5,Why did you have a dinner with a sexual predator when you knew there were issues around the individual?
6,Is it good judgment for a potential leader of the country to have secret donors?
7.Why, with good governance that you purport to have, did you not demand Annette King co-operate fully with police with regard sexual assault in her house?

In the best traditions of honesty and leadership he should be asked each question and then we could see if we can trust him.

Sadly cut backs in government spending over more than a decade have seen important training courses get passed over. When I worked with offenders, we often had WINZ employees at the same courses, where we were taught how to handle explosive situations. We were never allowed to have communication devices or any form of protection on us – instead we were told that we were expected to be able to ‘talk’ our way out of dangerous situations, and were given the job because of that expertise.

When peoples livelihoods are threatened, and especially when dealing with people on all sorts of highs – even being a receptionist around such people can be dangerous, let alone an actual case worker, who has to pass the no message on.

As sad as it is, I expect we will see more of this sort of thing as the gaps in our society get bigger, and the belief of entitlement is threatened by those who have never lived without it.

Again – our welfare system has a lot to answer for. Something that was heralded as being a shining star, is at risk of destroying our country.

flipper 8:39 am. It could get even more interesting if the FBI take an interest. The stolen e.mails were from a Google g.mail account, and they are domiciled in the US. The law there takes a dim view of tampering with mail.

Anybody here who has ever emailed Whale, or any person named in ‘Dirty Politics’ should make a complaint to the FBI.

Matthew Hooton is involved in ‘Dirty Politics’ by his inclusion in Nicky Hager’s book. He has also chosen to include himself in the ongoing media discussions.

As a paid PR consultant it’s a curious approach, as is the stances he is taking and the stories and rumours he has been promoting.

@Whaledump has come back from a supposed week holiday and taken a new tack – he has attacked Hooton.

There are no rumours. @MatthewHootonNZ made them up to ratfuck Judith Collins. And those reporting his rumours are helping him.

Those reporting his ‘rumours’ include TVNZ (q & A) and Radio NZ.

One of Hooton’s rumours is that more data is going to be dumped. He probably concerns about what may incriminate him he, with good reason.

It seems to be Hooton versus Whaledump, Slater, Collins and Key.

His past may also be against him if Whaledump dumps on him.

I think that given that we already know that a) when the PM’s office was notified by Tucker that the release was happening, Goff had already been notified and b) Goff had bullied Tucker into delaying the release by a week then there’s heaps of time for someone such as Ede to tip off Slater to expect its arrival.

It’s $217.9/liter for 91 at the local Zed in Glen Innes, but down in Manurewa it’s $1.99 for the same stuff.

I know where I’ll be filling up the next time I head south.

Muzza’s pretty much untouched by the Hager/hacking/dirty politics kerfuffle at the moment; a bad couple of days in court with the diplomat could make life very unpleasant for the Government, especially a couple of weeks out from the polls.

What proportion of your monthly budget will it save you? And note that in Venezuela petrol is cheaper than water.

In a “free market” you cannot have rules against dumping, like Monsanto is doing on some third world countries (with GMO crops that no-one will buy). So the local farmers go broke without their market, and lose their farms to guess who?

TV1 was obviously disappointed with the results of their Colmar Brunton poll. It didn’t lead their 6pm News and support for National at 48% is still higher than they received pre-election in 2011. This result is a normal slide for the incumbent and a lift for the opposition is also the norm. No reference to this at all apart from “Labour has lifted in our latest Poll” They just don’t get it. Grinding on with the Dirty Politics is having no influence on the voting public. The standard of their news is now as bad as their third rate programmes.

I decided to post this in the general debate rather than the thread on the Ashburton shootings because that thread denigrated pretty quickly in a lot of ugliness. Some examples:

What a sad waste of life. Sympathies go out to the victims’ relatives.
Vote: Thumb up 15 Thumb down 2
Who downvotes a comment like that? I have no way of knowing but I can not believe anybody would downvote a comment like that.

Comments by jackinabox. Banned for a week as a result, but his/her comments brought out some strong reaction, including four-letter words of the worst sort. All in all his/her comments quickly did nothing to the issue except inflame passions and emotions at a very difficult time. I just hope none of the family or friends of the deceased read that thread. Ever.

Naturally Judith got in the act again and made a contribution that added nothing to the issue, except to rark up a lot of negative comment. Free speech? Derailment more likely.

So I truly sympathise with DPF as to how to handle this. Blogs are a particularly ill-suited way of reporting/discussing fast moving, highly-emotive issues where the facts aren’t clear at all.

I think this strengthens the case for a much stronger moderation of Kiwiblog to ensure its reputation for a reasonably fair-minded, right-wing blog can be maintained. I detest the derails of people like jackinabox and Judith. This is not about “free speech” – it is a blog where people of a right-leaning inclination can debate issues that interest them. This doesn’t mean we are opposed to alternative views. Actually the opposite. I was glad, for example, that Trevor Mallard commented on a recent thread about Chinese students. Good one him and his intervention was reasonable, intelligent and apposite. Kiwiblog shouldn’t become just an echo chamber. But really, the Ashburton thread was a massive disappointment, but not a surprise.

DPF will be busy with the election and now is not the time to make changes to Kiwiblog. But I sincerely hope that once the dust settles after 20 September we can improve Kiwiblog and ensure that we can have intelligent debate about important issues. For that to happen much stronger moderation needs to happen.

Ok Kiwibloggers – those of you who support justice and accountability will be thrilled to know that today I have emailed a formal complaint to Police against (former) Minister of Justice, Judith Collins, for allegedly attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Acting upon advice received from National Police Head Quarters, I emailed my complaint to Auckland District Commander Michael Clement.

Here is the wording of the complaint:

I wish to file a formal complaint with NZ Police against former Minister of Justice Judith Collins under s.116 of the Crimes Act 1961.

s.116 Conspiring to defeat justice

Every one is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years who conspires to obstruct, prevents, pervert, or defeat the course of justice in New Zealand or the course of justice in an overseas jurisdiction.

The evidence upon which I am relying to support this complaint is the same evidence upon which Prime Minister John Key was purportedly relying to remove Judith Collins of her Ministerial responsibilities.

s.105B Use or disclosure of personal information disclosed in breach of 105A

1) Every person is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years who, –

a) having received personal information (being information that comes into that person’s possession as a result of the commission of an offence against s.105A 😉 and

b) knowing that the information has been disclosed in contravention of that section, – uses or discloses that information to obtain, directly or indirectly, an advantage or pecuniary gain for that person or any other person.

2) It is a defence to a charge under this section if the person charged proves that the person was legally authorised to use or disclose the information.

3) In this section, the term personal information means any information about an identifiable natural person, including a deceased natural person.

Seriously, does this add anything to the issue? Milk Me is a particularly egregious example. I could get more sense out of a bunch of Year 9’s after they had seen a Victoria Secret catalog than anything he/she contributes to Kiwiblog.

There are also plenty of “hang ’em high” comments too which add nothing to the issue here – which is that there are families in Ashburton whose lives have been turned upside down. My thoughts and sympathies are with them.

If the diplomat situation does arise once again before the election it’d be almost suspect timing at best. Though everything else regarding it’s taken so damn long I can’t see anything going down before Sept 20.

That aside, one thing never ceases to amaze – the fake weighting the MSM give to the whole Collins/Hager fiasco. I’ve yet to speak to a single layman who gives toss about it, nor one who could accurately describe what’s even alleged to have gone on. Few north of the Ngauranga Gorge care. May 20/09/2014 be blue!

Penny has laid a complaint with the Police:

FYI today I have emailed the Auckland District Commander, Michael Clement, making a formal complaint to Police against former Minister of Justice Judith Collins for alleged violations of s. 116 and s. 105 of the NZ Crimes Act 1961.

The evidence upon which I am relying to support this complaint is the same evidence upon which Prime Minister John Key was purportedly relying to remove Judith Collins from her Ministerial responsibilities.
