The blackgrass seed was a contaminant in a shipment of red fescue seed. Seems the contractor who was meant to get rid of the contaminated consignment didn’t follow instructions properly.

Anyway, blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroides) has been here before:… 1st reported in 1844 and a specimen collected in Canterbury in 1941.

It’s worthwhile remembering that from the aftermath of the Bolshevik October Revolution the independence of former territories of the Tsarist Empire were
Purely in name only .Initially and for a brief period some of them like the .Crimea experienced a very brief period of Independence .But any breakaway tendencies were quickly crushed by Trotsky and the fledging Red Army.Referendums or plebiscites were never held unless under the strict directions of Lenin and his Central Committee

That reminded intact until the fall of the regime in 1991.Thus the idea of a truly Independent Ukrainian SSR is actually meaningless.For example even though it had membership of the UN it never wavered from supporting the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.It never dared and besides its UN representatives were in reality hand picked by Moscow.Independence for the Ukrainian SSR was purely illusory and symbolic and so was the the granting of the Crimea to it.

Its worth examining the link below that explores these issues in more depth and the complicated history of the Crimea .

BTW the Crimea never historically was part of the Tsarist Empire but conquered and annexed .As mentioned forcibly incorporated into the USSR post the October revolution .In reality the Soviet Union was more accurately the Soviet Empire and acted like the Tsarist Empire towards the Ukrainian SSR and the former Crimea SSR

The transfer of Crimea in 1954 was an administrative action of the Supreme Soviet which transferred the government of most of the Crimean peninsula from the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic to the Ukrainian SSR.

kea, sorry e- fail. You cannot serrate that so called transfer from Soviet history and that of the Communist Party that ruled and controlled the former Tsarist Empire.

The transfer was purely symbolic as the real strings were pulled In Moscow by the Soviet leadership in all its affairs internally and externally.

The Ukrainian SSR and the 1954 so called transfer of 1954 notwithstanding .

it is basic as that.!

Go back to the October Revolution and start from there.

Thats where Andrei , Putin and your illusions begin and end.

The irony the Soviet leadership might fully approve of Putins actions including the farcical referendum. However they would actually forgo such niceties and simply send the Red Army to reoccupy as with the Ukraine too.

In order for you to be consistent, you should demand those countries be placed back under the administration of the Supreme Soviet. Since they no longer exist, you should demand the USA [sic] enforces those rulings.

Exactly as you do for the Crimea and other Russian lands.

Or is this yet another case of special-pleading an exception to the principle ?
