Imagining the people you associate with are a “snapshot of society” is a common error. If I got together with 15 friends and associates there’d hardly be any National voters among them – which isn’t particularly surprising and shouldn’t lead to astonished questioning of who actually votes for those wankers.

If something’s happening in lots of different countries, that makes it less likely, not more likely, to be a conspiracy.

Muslim immigration in Europe PM has been going on for decades across all parties in all European countries except Switzerland and not one of those countries ever wanted it.

Yet all the politicians of all persuasions apparently did. Against the wishes of the people.

This IS what HAS happened and it can’t be minimised or obfuscated out of existence.

And democracy isn’t supposed to work like that, and yet, it evidently has.

So what would you call that?

An unfortunate accident? For decades? Across multiple countries? Across multiple govts of both persuasions?

There’s plenty of examples to show that democracy doesn’t work like people expect…or that bureaucracies have more power than people expect…but it’s not necessarily the result of a conspiracy. It’s a result of not understanding the dynamics in play in western democracies.

How about simple progressive group-think, while humming the chorus of “one big melting pot” and without really thinking through the possible consequences (aka what could go wrong?).

But you may be overstating the “no one in any of those many countries wanted it”. The political parties promoting those policies are still the most popular parties. While some anti-immigration parties are starting to make headway, they still have a long way to go. Hence, there is popular support for those policies.

An interesting aspect to continued UK immigation

In fact Trade Commission staff have admitted that the EU/India FTA is, in effect , 85% a UK deal. That’s the percentage of the gains which will accrue to the UK (well, the international financial firms based in London, anyway) while the UK (UK workers, this time) will get that percentage of the pain.

Financial services investment opportunities overseas will not produce jobs here. But workers will be displaced via Mode 4, especially in a time of cuts. Transnational firms will be able to offer cheap onshore outsourcing, using cheaper temporary migrant labour and will also be able to supply labour into other firms allowing them to offload all employer responsibilities.

Within the supposedly ‘capped’ UK points based system for labour migration, the government has ensured that the categories relevant to trade commitments have no numerical limits. There are no such limits on the ‘intra-corporate transferees (ICTs) category in Tier 2 or on the ‘international agreements’ category in Tier 5. Neither is there any resident labour market test, which would stipulate that jobs have to be offered here first.

In fact both these restrictions are disallowed at the international trade level in respect of Mode 4.

Under the current points based system, skilled workers are currently being brought in and paid the minimum wage, which is then made up to a low industry norm with tax-free expenses and with no national insurance payable. Thus the UK government is even now encouraging the use of a cheap labour supply that not only displaces workers here but also damages the national economy in a variety of ways. Wages are repatriated overseas, the earn/spend cycle needed for recovery is broken, workers become unemployed and the welfare bill increases, the employment future for young people is further curtailed, and skills transfer are lost for the future.

As trade agreements, with Mode 4 included, are committed to hard international trade law, they become effectively permanent. This is why this handing of control of UK labour migration to transnational corporations will affect not only present but future generations. Any attempt by any future government to pull back on these commitments will potentially invoke corporate legal action to recover all anticipated profits that may be negatively affected by the government action.

Why don’t you provide an alternative explanation for the phenomena we’ve all observed if it’s not that, and make sure you take into account the following facts:
– no-one wanted it, ever and if you think they did then show evidence of that desire and your evidence will need to be voluminous because if anyone did want it then there’d be thousands of articles on it, wouldn’t there
– every country in Europe did it except Switzerland, and explain why it hasn’t happened there and explain why the very same policy was pursued at the same time by all countries
– it happened across the political spectrum and make sure your explanation explains how that happened
– the same unpopular policy has been going on for decades and it keeps going on with no sign of stopping.

So make sure your alternative explanation covers all of those attributes which we all agree reflect the phenomena.

Fact is, my explanation is the only one which fits all of those attributes and the only reason you guys don’t want to admit it is because it hurts your tummy. In other words, you’re not being logical, you’re being emotional, and what the fuck sort of logic is that to use, if you’re analysing something?

I’d call it governments being usually made up of people who necessarily have to take legislation more seriously than people who are just blathering to their mates at the pub or shouting at the TV. Still, let’s consider the likelihood of two alternative explanations:

1. No matter how anti-Muslim-immigration they may feel, a bunch of politicians who sit down to actually draft legislation that would ban Muslims because they’re Muslims soon notice that it would necessitate scrapping various bits of human rights legislation or even altering their country’s constitution, withdrawing ratification of a couple of important UN conventions their country supports, causing large-scale foreign-policy problems with various important trading partners, and producing a flood of international news stories in which they get compared to Hitler over footage of Jews wearing yellow stars on their coats. At which point, the politicians quietly shelve the idea and decide to pretend this Muslim immigration issue’s been over-sold and there isn’t really any problem.

Or:

2. A totally-secret elite cabal has controlled all these different governments in all these countries, without difficulty and without being discovered, and used that control to bring about large-scale Muslim immigration, for the purpose of… well, I don’t know. Shits and giggles?

And what better way to jolly that along, than by importing a whole hell of a lot of incompatible poorly educated people who will never settle into the mores of their host country, will always be a drain on said hosts resources and will definitely go and do what they’ve already started doing, which is committing crime after crime in their host nations.

Now I realise that lefties go all gooey and awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww about the poor widdle victims and isn’t it tewwible but here in the real world where the rest of us live, if we went to their country we wouldn’t do what they’re doing so we don’t expect them to do it here.

One person who didn’t make the Honours list, but arguably should do, is Penny Bright. We may not always see politically eye to eye, but I have tremendous respect for Ms Bright’s sense of integrity and dedication to keeping all sides of the political spectrum honest. I have seen Penny stand up to the Left on issues of public accountability, and have often seen her tackling the Right. Our political system needs the Brights of this world.

Poll after poll across the Western World saying that native populaces are against their cultures being diluted through mass immigration and STATE ENFORCED (emphasis mine) multiculturalism. Hell – even the liberal BBC audience overwhelmingly recognises it as a failure yet the Politicians (no matter which team they’re on) continue on with their social engineering.

Note point five of the 11 point plan is “huge immigration to destroy identity”. It’s not a conspiracy mate, nor is it natural “demographic change”, it is an ongoing and deliberate and in the open attempt to radically alter Western society along more “Fabian” lines.

There may be a simpler explanation to Britain’s demise through unwanted immigration. In the 50’s through to the 70’s unions brought the country to its knees much the same as they did in NZ. British workmen (the greatest oxymoron known to this age) would not carry out the basic jobs required to keep the country functioning. They instead concentrated on holding placards, beating the shit out of scabs & yelling “all ooot brothers”. Immigrants from the Caribbean & then Pakistan were happy to accept the work that was available.

The country became addicted to immigration to cover up the problems caused by a radical, unionised workforce.

Boyhood is the film I’m really looking to seeing mikenmild. Unfortunately where I live there is only one multiplex. There’s plenty of screens, but the less commercial films often get passed by.

My favourites in the list (that I’ve seen) are Under the Skin, Nightcrawler, and Snowpiercer. Guardians of the Galaxy is an awesome big screen popcorn film.

Boyhood was marvellous, simply an incredible piece of film making. 12 years to make a movie. Saw it at the film festival and it has had a limited release since. We’re lucky here, in that we get far too many great movies to see them all.

Politicians of all hues are a shiftless lot motivated solely by self interest or at least the narrow interests of their equally venal supporters. They don’t think past the next election & will never risk being considered racial or intolerant to people of colour.

Once the immigration tap was turned on there was no compelling reason to turn it off.

Edit: Chinese immigrants to Auckland pushing up house prices & making everyone with a foot on the property ladder a millionaire are telling examples of taps not getting turned off when required.

There’s heaps wrong when families have no hope of buying houses that are many multiples of their yearly income.

Similarly when the cost of farmland is driven by overseas investors who are landbanking, rather than the value of what the farm produces, we are divorcing ourselves from reality.

Mano;o , like Reid you totally ignore the historical circumstances that has found e g France with a significant Muslim minority. Go back to the French Empire and its dissolution in the 1950’s. Many expats from the former territories came back. Many had intermarried and a percentage of e.g Algerians had obtained French citizen citizenship similar in many ways similar to many of our Pacific neighbours These peoples became the basis of their present day multicultural society .

Due ti a variety if factors including Labour shortages immigrants from the former colonies continued to come to France . All this largely as the price a country pays for Colonial and ambitions of empire . By far the majority of these successfully integrate Muslim or not rather like here. Issues and problems are largely the result of rapid social change including high unemployment . As we can see the issues surrounding multiculturalism are a lot more complex than the naysayers would like to admit and are often as a result of simple prejudice and hatreds . Nothing more . Nothing less . WE see this especially with Manolo and yourself

Definitely yes. The social cohesion produced by people with an interest in their own community is palpable. I could take you to parts of Masterton which are now just about slums as opposed to a few years ago when they were good places to bring up a family.

The only difference is that now they’re about 70% rentals & full of people who don’t care about anything because they have no skin in the game.

Yes…like the Cameron Block. That has always been a borderline “no go” area, never more so than when the Nomads & the Police were sorting out who ran the town in the early 80s.

But the decay has extended to areas like Upper Plain & Solway which were traditionally Nappy Valleys full of workers & their kids. As a committed bleeding heart socialist you will instinctively know that all people are good & never change so it can’t be that.

What has changed is the ownership of the properties & in the fashion of all rental areas the movement is down…..on greased glass….with skates!

I actually agree with you that a higher percentage of home ownership would be beneficial. I’m not sure that the decreasing rate has immigration as a sole cause – you would need to look at the whole thrust of social and economic policy since the 1970s.

Much of it is the lack of cheap land Mike but more of it is meddling do gooders who want all houses to have multiple bathrooms & consider anything less than 150sq/m to be an insult to an intending home owner. Then we have the scum planners in the parasitical local councils whose sole purpose in life is to frustrate people.

Running a D4 through council offices & setting fire to social engineers would increase housing stocks overnight.

The stupidest rules these waste of space idiots can imagine get passed by councils. I had to prove black stained ply was non reflective and pay for a fwit to test the gas hot water temperature with a thermometer right next to the adjustable thermostat with a temperature read out for it.

Not hard to do Red.
All you have to do is add some fats of some kind. Emulsified fats are best but not sure if you can buy them now. You can use oils which is what the bakeries do but it isn’t anywhere near as good. Butter or Margarine can be used. Use about 2% of the flour weight. Lecithin can be added.
If you can get the fat in at about 4% of flour weight then you can add milk Powder say at 2%.

Suspect even oil and lecithin would be ok but have never tried it.
Beer of course is good. He says as he empties another.
Another which is said to work is tomatoes. Use some pulp
Don’t forget to adjust the water when you try these things.

You are in a car. You approach a roundabout at slow speed. It’s later evening but bright broad daylight in fine weather. On the roundabout in front of your field of vision moving from your right to left is a cyclist – *on* the intersection moving in front of and across your car . How many times do you see the roaduser and give way as required by law versus you don’t see them and turn left as if they don’t exist ?

See LRC, I would have accelerated and tried to crash into his door while I somersaulted over his roof and “accidentally” smashed his windscreen with my foot before safely landing on the other side of the car and booting his passenger door and “accidentally” scratching it as I dragged it open to make sure everyone was alright and get his details so the insurance companies could talk it over and then I’d call the cops and start crying and shaking because it was so very scawy for me and I’d hurt my finger which actually, I’d nicked myself when I’d scratched his door.

But that’d learn em, wouldn’t it. Plus make me feel much better, all at the same time.
