Odeky-sen: while their oldest son and his wife and children live above on the second floor. The son usually pays for the construction of the house, but the parents supply the land.

Ah tradition, great if it works, but I am soooooo glad I’m not married to the eldest son!!!!!! I know my sister-in-law, married to the eldest brother, would be just as pleased as I would be about this situation with our MIL (mother-in-law)! Her sons could not accept such a situation either.

It just wouldn’t work in some cases… of course, some families wouldn’t have any alternative if they wish to live in Auckland.

The trend in New Zealand is to provide more support services to older persons living in their own homes and then move them to the new retirement castles. It can work well to have three generations under the same roof, but it isn’t for everyone.

You’re right. In-laws don’t always get on, and in Japan, mother-in-laws are notorious for making their daughter-in-law’s lives hell. It depends on the family. Nisetai jutaku won’t work for everyone, but when they do, then they’re really good.

Mind you, with property prices in Auckland so high (reminds me of the property bubble that burst in Japan in 1992 and has been deflating ever since), there are many good reasons to consider such an arrangement, especially if the old man has land in EGGs or Auckland Boys Grammar zone.

It is a good scheme to keep elderly in their own homes for as long as possible, if that’s what they wish. However, a lot of elderly are too proud to ask for home help even for the basics. They don’t realise that they can’t see cleaning that needs doing, etc.
GP’s need to be aware that some elderly are not going to ask, and even deny the need for help. Families are not always available or close at hand.

A large retirement “castle” in Tauranga is known as “Colditz” for the view of it from the rear side.

We’ve just got a couple of massive retirement home projects under way here in the Hutt. Amazing growth industry. I haven’t heard too much in recent years of people adding granny flats.

Retirement homes are not bad in some ways. You don’t have a care in the world, as everything is laid on for you. However, your life is really no longer your own.

Also, people can lose their second language ability when they get really old, but I have never heard of this issue being discussed in New Zealand. I hope the nurses at the rest homes can speak Hindi or Cantonese, to cope with the future influx.

As for me, I hope that someone will put me to sleep if I lose all my marbles. I might even put that in writing and give it to my lawyer.

that may be because councils dont like and the costs councils inflict upon people who want to add one.

i could be wrong, but thats what i was told when speaking to some people about building a home & income (was planning on renting both out).

The A10 hasn’t been retired. In the “cromnibus” passed at Christmas there was around $1.1 billion allocated to keep it going.
Amazing machine.
Also fighters need guns. The defensive systems against missiles are pretty good and with speeds nearing/ over Mach 2 the closing speeds between two aircraft often means you’ re going to get close pretty quick and the fight will become very close.

On Boxing day afternoon a young friend and his mates in their 20’s decided to go in to town to get some beer. He hopped onto the back of the ute. On the way, the ute overturned and rolled on my young friend. They turned off the life support on Friday.

In-experienced driver on shingle road seem to have been the main factor.

The biggest barrier in this country to effecting positive change is the sheer quantity of sheeple. The overwhelming amount of them simply don’t care to learn about what’s happening to them. In fact, they are sheep that suffer from Ostrich syndrome, having their heads eternally buried in the sand.

I personally believe that removing the main stream media would be the first and most important step to take to start getting the sheeple to wake up but I have no idea how to accomplish that. The MSM is the lifeblood of the propaganda sheep feeding machine, and until it’s under control, I see little change forthcoming because when you see the current main Headline on stuff – “Caroline Wozniacki loses her underwear deal”, this is going to remain a permanently distracted country:

Granny flats.
I am adding one onto a house I own at the mo. Its an easy $200 a week rent.
Council makes it hard because once the flat is there and legal you kinda have existing useage rights for two dwellings … then you kinda can say well I wanna subdivide and sell them seperatley.
Leads to area and access issues.

In Hawkes Bay the Council allows a seperate dwelling for dependant relitive. Less than 80M2. Cannot be subdivided tho. Which is much better than home. (Palmy)

But notwithstanding the declining power of the MSM due to their OTT transparency in pushing the bullshit as opposed to what’s really happening, nothing is changing. It just gets worse and worse and worse. So I don’t think your diagnosis will have the desired prognosis. Sadly. For the sheeple.

What pisses me off is that when the hammer does fall, despite the fact that you and I will both be a few thousand miles ahead of the slaughter line, we’re still going to be in the slaughter line.

That’s where religion comes in real handy, in terms of that question.

First of all this is a MSM article put out by people who don’t know what they are talking about. They are not part of the program and hence not privy to the required info about it. There is a lot of misinformation being bandied around in the MSM by people who have absolutely no clues about the program such as Goon and Kopp of Air Power Australia. They have been discredited but MSM still think they are “experts” on the F35. They are not part if the F35 program and never have been. Yes I do realise ngati that it probably does a lot more than activate the firing switch on the hardware. My point was however how the hell can software to fire a gun take three years to develop on a multi-billion dollar project that has thousands of people working on it, especially given that the A-10 already does it perfectly well, albeit with different hardware?

Given the Marines can’t use their version of the F-35 until such software is in place and given that in the next three years such a weapons platform as an F-35 with close ground-support capability is almost certainly going to come in very useful indeed, WTF is every single manager on the entire project thinking, not to mention the politicians who are supposedly executing the will of their people by their support of the whole program. Isn’t it well past time that someone, somewhere, starting kicking arse and taking names? One would have thought so. That was my point.

All these geo-political maneuverings by Russia, China & the BRICS leads me to think it is going to be “bite the bullet” time very soon.

The ongoing trend has been towards the NWO take over, and at some point, one either keeps going along and gets swallowed, or “bites the bullet” and resists. Once resistance is actually and fully embraced, all sorts of formerly unthinkable actions become obvious next steps, and this latest is one of them.

China’s weird, wacky and downright illegal buildings

It seems you don’t host the world’s biggest building boom without a few people cutting corners.

But some of the questionable towers and cheeky additions popping up in China would shock even the most lax building inspector.

Just this month architecture blog Curbed stumbled upon an illegal corridor connecting two high-rises in China’s city of Nanning. Appropriately tagged in their “seems legit” category, the corridor was reportedly built, and is used by, a single owner.

Not surprisingly the addition has proved unpopular with passers-by walking below.

I wonder if the owner has tried playing “bouncy castle” in his high-rise corridor of power?

In my professional life, when someone comes up with an unexpected position, I try to suspend judgment and understand why they’ve come to that position. It’s not always easy to do, of course, but (at least in a workplace context) there’s no point in dismissing someone’s position without understanding it unless the facts, on any objective view, are inconsistent with that position. In fact, I’ve found that work meetings (generally a waste of time) are most productive when someone goes beyond unquestioning acceptance and asks probing questions. You might call it an enquiring mind.

Personally, I’d like to see the quality of debate go beyond two-dimensional bickering (between lefties and righties and within those groups).

Look at yesterday’s guest post from Kiwi in America. A thoughtful piece. And what did we get? People moaning that the post was too long. And two lefties who offered nothing but abuse (eg thePeoplesFlag wrote “Jesus you are total blowhard” and HC wrote “Go and stay there, NZ is not the place for you … Good luck, we do not need you here.). Those comments say a lot about them. Overall, for a thread that had so much to offer, it was a big disappointment really.

Getting to the beginning of my understanding that the NWO is not fantasy Nosty took me six solid months looking at 911 before I had the epiphany that they really really did it. It was a literal epiphany and that’s because of the cognitive dissonance which operates on the sub conscious level without anyone being aware they suffer under it.

When I say “they,” I didn’t know who “they” were at that time, all I knew was that it simply wasn’t possible for it to have happened the way the official story had portrayed it as, simple as that, period, over and out. That was the epiphany. And that was in early 2003.

It’s consistent with Conan-Doyles dictum: eliminate the impossible and whatever’s left, however improbable, must be the case.

People who don’t get it are often those who have looked into a single thing in the field, normally extreme, about say, underground bases or shape-shifting reptilians or aliens or mind control or the occult or whatever, and their cognitive dissonance then poisons them to conflate the “keywords” (e.g. “conspiracy theory,” “NWO,” etc) with that. In other words they conflate everything with that single view. Then they anchor that perspective and forever after, they’re incapable of sorting the wheat from the chaff. Dealing with this stuff is therefore less a matter of IQ than it is of EQ.

But I would suggest because I sense you’re intellectually curious, you pick a topic you’re interested in, it may be JFK, it may be 911, it may be the Fed, whatever – and explore it, in detail. And place your judgement on hold and find everything you can about it and just file what you read about it away until you can say: right: I now know as much about it as I need to – what’s the answer? Is this bollocks or is it not?

I personally chose 911 because I’ve been interested in politics and geopolitics and history esp military history since I was a boy and I knew that event needed to be understood if I wanted to understand those disciplines. That’s what gave ME the passion to spend night after night looking at all things 911, for months. But if you’re serious, you need whatever is your passion, and if you don’t have one, fine. But once you’ve spent your whole life in the matrix, you can’t expect to break free of it without doing some work, so chose carefully my friend, because there is a lot a disinformation, a lot of complete and utter lightweight bollocks, a lot of extremely subtle garden-pathing in this field (which of course you’d expect if it were true, wouldn’t you). And you need that initial and original passion to keep burning, lest you get down one of those paths and simply give up, because you just can’t be arsed anymore.

Just a word of advice: don’t go too deep too fast. I know lawyers love that and expect that because the depth is always set by the rules. This is not like that. Suspend your legal mind, and adopt a philosopher’s mind. Look for logic and consistency and patterns across the field you’re looking at and float over them like a butterfly.

have just finished cooking and cleaning up after dinner so a late reply to your post (and no it wasn’t me that downticked your post – I very rarely downtick but do uptick a good post)

Your description is pretty much on the money as to what the NWO is. It is a very long term plan (centuries old) which combines super capitalism (for the rich) and Communism under the same tent and thus can’t be put into a “left” vs. “right” square. The key to it is financial, economic and increasingly thought control of the masses. It is evolving into the supranational sovereignty of an intellectual and banking elite replacing national auto-determination practiced in past centuries (i.e. a group of people with similar ethnic, lingua, religious, cultural similarities).

Boko Haram and the rise of Islam has been deliberately encouraged to create a war on such a huge scale (why do you think no Western country is immune to it) that like WW1 and WW2 it will exhaust populaces to spiritual breaking point who will then be ready to accept whatever “solutions” the leaders will put up. As such, all this “chaos” around the world I don’t believe is by accident and is merely the prelude to something much bigger.

See in the real world we rate peoples politics on the party they voted for .
Some voted for a party called conservative who had a main economic policy of NO MORE ASSET SALES.
In caps because it was rated a must have by the conservatives .
That is distantly socialist. Such a person is not economically a right winger .
It also plainly sets out that the right wing conservative tendency for authoritarian ideas is such a voters main preoccupation

Your concept of the political process involved with MMP environment is immature redbaiter .
I would like national to lean towards the policy’s and direction of the ACT party.
The ACT party would have sold the assets a generation ago .
Politics is not a party with no experience going into the election with inflexible bottom lines.
I do not want to radical alter national I just would like it to go further right.
The party for that has always been ACT in the new Zealand context .
The conservatives are not that party and will never be as long as they have an incoherent socialist economic policy.

@Reid. Re your 5:54 re F35 gun software. Ah I see what you are getting at. Well from what I understand about modern weapons systems and software integration is that it is highly complicated to say the least. One just has to look at the Royal Australian Navy SH2G(A) Seasprite naval helicopter project where they had something like a AU$900 million budget blowout because the Navy was overly ambitious in what it wanted the helicopter to do. The big problem that the RAN had was the software and getting said software to hover the helicopter just above the water amongst other things. It didn’t work. The software was a bespoke autopilot auto hovering software and when the aircraft was put into autopilot it proved to be quite dangerous. So in the end they canned the project blaming Kaman and we now have got 10 Seasprites in basically new condition without that Aussie autopilot system and at about 80% discount. I also note that the Australian Army are having issues with software integration and their Airbus Helicopters Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter. Apparently it involves unique Australian Army software code.
