Keeping Stock

I’m currently sitting in traffic on Dominion Road in Auckland getting nowhere fast (SWMBO is driving). Short visits to this fine city are required to give us a reminder as to why we have chosen to live away from Auckland even though we own businesses there.

In the meantime we’re looking forward to watching the U20 All Whites take on Uncle Sam’s finest at North HarbourStadium tonight. The standard of football over the weekend was excellent.

John Key’s relative popularity is down to 2 key constituencies:

– Right wingers who hope that one day the leopard will change his spots and eventually deliver some right leaning policy
– moderate Socialists (NZs largest group) who like the benefits that living in a moderately capitalist country brings but like all their welfare goodies and don’t put too much thought into medium/long term sustainability of such policies.

That leaves Andy with the the rump if the left who are not Communists (they vote Green), and tribal voters who’ll vote Labour come hell or high water.

I like the tech, applaud how difficult it is but some cretins waffling on about this being the future, I don’t think so.

Basic physics for the technically challenged;
It takes a shit load of energy to transport a big bunch of people quickly over a long distance. You need to find an alternative source of a shit load of energy to offer an alternative to fossil fuels, and it must be always available during the journey.

Got that?… good… now no more idiotic statements please.

This time of day it is always a carpark like any of the northsouth arterials.
plan your trip to QBE stadium carefully. Not only the game crowd but general commuter traffic will slow things down.

They took off in the dark for the 38 hour trip across the Pacific Ocean only to have a cloudy day. Impossible to re-charge the batteries when the sun isn’t shining. The trip has been postponed until the weather improves.

Is this plane before it’s time? Or does it need an engine! Maybe in the future air travel will only be possible during the height of summer. 😉

Just listened to the awful Moaning Report, god knows why I do but its appalling radio and the hosts and producers have abandoned any pretence of political neutrality. Well there was yet another patsy interview where conveniently the host pitches a free hit question to Little who drones on and on and on with his 1970s approach to the world, to be honest I think it backfires as Little is just so boring.
Whats wrong with allowing the private sector to take on people with mental health problems and try and get them into work, who knows they might be more successful than what is happening now, Little says fuck that and then explains he had no other expectation than crap polling numbers into the near future…what a looser with no aspiration or ambition no wonder the Labour caucus is still on holiday.

It has it’s applications, it just is not passenger travel.

I imagine spy planes that stay up for months (might be doing that already, not sure?), cheap alternative to satellites especially for communications, deliveries to remote places etc.

Health Initiatives for so called mental patients. Certainly beats the hell out of Helen Clarks great ideas on mental and handicapped patients. Her Labour Party with ANNETTE KING the landlady of Darren Hughes ,was aboard Clarks Government, when they closed down many,many facilities for the mental and handicapped. They were turned loose by an uncaring Labour Party. Now we see and hear the holier than thou, King and Little attempt to put the boot into,a good idea in trying to clean up the mess ,National inherited from Labour.

I went to the GP one day and there was a group of obviously very mental deficient individuals in there. One started SCREAMING while in the waiting area. I had to go outside to wait for my appointment as the sound was horrendous.
I mentioned this to my GP and he said the GP’s try and take them in as soon as they arrive as this behaviour was a regular happening. He said “it was very difficult treating these patients as GP’s are not qualified.”

The big issue is overnight energy storage – which can be mostly achieved by raising altitude during the day and gliding down at night. But it is also feasible to augment the power with microwave or laser beamed power from a ground station. Another option is just to have two and have one on the ground charging batteries while the other is circling.

Battery powered aircraft are not yet feasible for more than 4-500km range, particularly if expected to carry significant payload. That might change in future if batteries get a lot lighter (lithium sulphur, lithium air or sodium air are all possibilities)

To be a compassionate society, caring for those less well off, for the sick, the less fortunate? Christianity. Isnt it odd that Blatter has come out firing against those individuals charged with corruption, and how he didnt know or coudlnt know what they were up to. IS it just me, or is it odd that they are all under the bus before appearing in any court or seeing the evidence against them. Are they not innocent until proven guilty ? Not in the eyes of greedy old Sepp…….I do have to wonder if he had anything to do with the arrests, otherwise how can be judge and jury ? The only other explanation is that he knew they were dirty, and by default, he has condoned the behaviour.

All you have to do is look at how they are all defending Turei’s comments as a joke, and not sexist at all, but I would bet anything if John Key had said something similar it would all have been about how he was sexist, a misogynist and an example of the ‘rape culture’.

Yet another example of the rank hypocrisy of the Greens and Labour.

Hardly fair, the action they can and can’t take against illegal immigrant boats is set down by their rules of engagement, which need approval from the Minister, they are not allowed to do more than they are legally authorised to by Government.

The courage to take more direct action must come from the Minister and Cabinet, but unfortunately there is a section of society that see these people as one’s we should let into our country and if the Navy were more aggressive there would be an hysterical overreaction from them and the media, thus the Government are a little too cautious.

Mate with a 28 footer sailed from the US to NZ 1970s.
Got to Whangarei at the end of winter and stayed in the Basin for a while
Then sailed down to the Sounds for Christmas and headed back to the US.
Any-one thinks that small boats cant get here I recommend they talk to people who’ve done it

When I say Navy, I also mean (by extension) their government controllers.

I thought the purpose of having a navy was to be the outer line to protect NZ society from harm. (Those kinds of refugees (or their 2nd or 3rd generation of offspring) may very well cause harm in NZ society, if the experience of the UK is anything to go by.)

From now on there is only the abstract human being, who chooses for himself what his nature is to be. Man and woman in their created state as complementary versions of what it means to be human are disputed. But if there is no pre-ordained duality of man and woman in creation, then neither is the family any longer a reality established by creation. Likewise, the child has lost the place he had occupied hitherto and the dignity pertaining to him.

More effort required on your own expectation management there mara. The writing was on the wall for all to see with his opening gambit of: “Does the Prime Minister stand by all … zzzzzz……. ”

urgh … uughh … my apologies … Anyway, it’s clear that James Shaw has extraordinary potential to make a difference to NZ society. He could hire himself out in a bucket to be placed handy in the event of mishaps at any Guy Fawkes celebrations.

Huh? Not from where I am standing.
