Go dairy owner

Stuff reports:

Two Northland children who demanded money from a dairy owner at gunpoint ended up being chased from the store with a broomstick.

Police said the 12-year-old and 15-year-old boys turned up at the North Road dairy in Kaitaia at 7.30pm on Sunday with a rifle.

They demanded money from the woman at the counter but were only able to grab a few lollies on their way out as she chased them out with a broom.

Superb.

They did not co-operate with police and the younger boy has been charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest, he said.

They have both been charged with aggravated robbery.

The boys were wearing bandannas on their faces and were intoxicated. Police suspected there may have been methamphetamine involved but were investigating that further.

Very sad.
