Labour MP Kelvin Davis has outed himself as the politician who shared a female Corrections staff member’s contact details with an offender who had a history of sexual violence.

Corrections Minister Judith Collins has written a letter to MPs, citing the case as an example of why care needed to be taken when advocating for current or former prisoners.
“If Dave Clendon wants to just rock up and visit a prisoner, or Kel Davis wants to go visit his friend Arthur Taylor as a visitor, that’s fine, but what they can’t do is go wandering around the maximum security part of the prison by themselves.

Collins said the MP, who she did not name, had sent an email directly to the staff member, “openly copying in” an offender with a track record of sexual violence against women and thus sharing her details.

The US public doesn’t need a Digital Security Commission, they need the FBI to stop deceiving everyone and tell the truth that it wants to spy on Americans, John McAfee, developer of the first commercial anti-virus program told RT’s Ed Schultz.

Republican Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and Senator Mark Warner, a member of the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence have introduced a draft bill that would create a ‘Digital Security Commission.’ It is supposed to help the US federal government better manage issues with encryption and better control the competing interests of law and technology companies.

The proposal came amid the ongoing legal standoff between Apple and the FBI over a San Bernardino attacker’s cellphone the feds want to decrypt.

RT: When you hear ‘The Digital Security Commission,’ what comes to mind?

John McAfee: Well, more spying – that’s what comes to mind to me. Let me try to make this issue simple for the American public and for the FBI, who clearly doesn’t understand. These devices are computers, whether it is an Android phone, iOS phone, or whatever. Inside – is a processor, which is a computer, the instruction set, which is the iOS, and all the applications that you run and the memory – in which you store your data.

Let’s take the FBI case. The FBI wants Apple to change their software, so that it removes the check for security, so that we don’t check for security anymore. Once it has that software, they can use that software on any phone. But they say they only need it for one phone.

I am going to tell the world exactly how we do this. Now I’ll probably lose my admission to the world hackers’ community, however I want to tell you. You need a hardware engineer and a softer engineer. The hardware engineer takes the phone apart, and copies the instruction set, which are the iOS and applications and your memory. And then you run a program called a disassembler, which takes all the ones and zeros and gives you readable instructions. Then the coder sits down and he reads through. What he is looking for is the first access to the keypad, because that is the first thing you do, when you input your pad. It’ll take half an hour. When you see that then he reads the instructions for where in memory this secret code is stored – it is that trivial – a half an hour.

… The FBI knows this, Apple knows this. And this is not an indictment of Apple. Any computer that falls into someone’s hands, anybody can do it, which is why corporate datacenters keep their computers locked up; and this is why we ought to keep our own phones locked up…

In either case if they (the FBI) don’t know – that is tragic; if they do know it – then they are deceiving the American public and Apple and everyone else by asking for a universal key.

RT: Does a Digital Security Commission complicate the process, or does it get in the way? Is it an avenue of the solution, in your opinion?

JM: It certainly gets in the way. Why do you need a ‘Digital Solutions Commission,’ when the FBI should be able to take a hardware engineer and a software engineer and get exactly what they need? I can do it; anybody can do it. We don’t need a commission, what we need is the truth…

The FBI needs to get its act together and tell the truth: “We need it, because we want to spy on Americans!” Cool, let’s talk about that, but please don’t try to deceive us by pretending we are idiots. We aren’t. I just explained to you and I am sure you understood it, and your entire audience understood the simplicity of getting access to that secret code.

Wow. Lucky we’re not in Russia, given the type of comments made here on Kiwi blog. Definitely a huge turnaround from when my Dad was in Siberia, being told in school that God did not exist, but father Stalin could make it rain sweets.

Just in case anyone is confused, the above scenario is terrible. Even though I believe in God, I also strongly believe that doing so should be a choice, not a state mandated and enforced belief. Free will and God allowing you to decide for or against Him, and all that.

This place is 99.9’% a circle jerk, same people, all the time. But you get visitors plus you get regulars on their personal epoch changing cusps.

I’ve always seen this bullshit. When I saw Desert Shield/Storm, I knew it was bullshit. But the blog wasn’t invented in 1991.

I’ve tried being polite, it doesn’t work.

I recognise this tactic doesn’t work very well, either.

Open to suggestions.

But the first criteria is to recognise that the problem we’re trying to redress is infected, poisoned minds, just like Jesus was.

I haven’t observed any recognition in yourself that your own mind has been infected. I mean you apparently don’t see Ukraine for what it is, let alone Syria. And that’s not even the start-gate.

This goes far, far deeper than early 21st century geopolitics. The issues I fight are the eternal Lucia. Why don’t you ask the Lord where I’m coming from and let Him tell you if I’m righteous or if I’m evil.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe my tactics are counter-productive, maybe I’ve misinterpreted.

All possible and possibly probable.

Like many I have nothing but admiration for the mans gift, and pleasure he brought to the populace.

His readers digest version of the game never gained a lot of supporters, but was most certainly the harbinger of T20 today.

He was poetry in motion with the bat, and a forward thinker of the game.

To monitor particular phone conversations or Internet communications, an FSB agent only has to enter a command into the control center located in the local FSB headquarters. That practice is in place throughout the country. Every regional FSB headquarters is connected by cables to all telephone operators and Internet providers in the region.

That system, known as the Law Enforcement Support System, or SORM, is actually a holdover from the country’s Soviet totalitarian past and was developed by a KGB research institute in the mid-1980s. Recent technological advances have simply been used to fine-tune the system. Now, the SORM-1 system captures telephone and mobile phone communications, SORM-2 intercepts Internet traffic, and SORM-3 collects information from all forms of communication, providing long-term storage of all information and data on subscribers….”

While this page is titled General Debate, what I am about post I do not want to debate.

It fits me under a post of general comment, rather than debate.

A couple of comments back I bemoaned that some tossers(s) down ticked Martins Crowes death. (Rightly so I might add!

Then as I had a shit day in my business, and my frame of mind is one of general shittyness, I thought of the mongrels who have floated through or thrust themselves into my life, I pondered if I would in fact down tick or offer applause at the demise of any of my fellow humans.

DAMN FUCKING RIGHT I WOULD…. There at least 3 humans I would drink Moët to celebrate their deaths, and then share the drinks with them by pissing on their graves.

Keeping Stock, thank you for that exceptional video clip of a very special and exceptional man , Certainly deeply moving . Such a tragedy that lymphoma robbed him ,like a thief in the night , but very courageously born.

PS Not a great cricket follower but decided to take time and watch the clip out as a mark of respect .I did however attend the semi final between Pakistan and NZ limited over 1992 and we felt the gut wrench of Martin and the team as Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq turned the tide in Pakistan’s favour .

What I’d be doing if I were you, is taking a step back, reading more widely and just being less angry.

The only important person to save is yourself. As you do that, you will have the opportunity to help others. God is pretty good at making sure those opportunities occur for you. But, don’t think the whole weight of the world is on your shoulders – it isn’t.

In my experience, the best spiritual warfare is a life of prayer, confession and Holy Communion, and just living your life with all that it brings you.

Trying to knock what you consider sense into people doesn’t work. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink, etc. Just chill out a bit more.

That’s what I would do if I were you.

Those other people tried to tell me their thing was the real truth – but I don’t believe them. Because they told me second.
It worked better before the different masses of people knew about each other’s brand. No competing religions. Now they just all look silly.

There’s probably going to be a whole lot of nothing after life on earth ends. It is what it is.
Wow – blah blah blah blah blah religious programming – ok – if you say so. I’ll go along with all of that. It must all be as you say it is – I’m totally convinced by being told about religious concepts of my existence.

Isn’t that amazing – never fails to get me – before we came into being, there’s been billions of years of nothing for you, and then – *poof* here you are and *kaput* there you go just like that – and then time goes on for billions of years more or whatever – and you cease to exist for all of that time. You know – most of the time – we really don’t exist a hell of a lot. I don’t even know how I’m existing long enough just to finish typing about existing. Am I still here ? Um -aah – yes.
