Yes it is very funny and on point – although once the Green Party spokesperson came on, the sanctimonous index went through the roof.

Satango: No, she actually had me for a while…until the “promise to ban fracking completely”… She wouldn’t know a fracking unit from a vibrator manufacturing machine! And I’m prepared to bet she knows absolutely nothing about how it is used in the North Sea…

The only thing the Greenies actually know about fracking is that it makes tired old oilfields good for another generation, and makes new ones produce 60 or 70% of their reserves rather than the 30% that is the average…That of course makes petroleum the chosen fuel for another 50 years at least, and that is utter anathema to them…

For quite different reasons I agree with the Greens that we need to develop alternative fuels asap…The reason is that the stuff is simply too valuable to burn…none of us would be typing our views on the interweb without it…And plastics is only one of its myriad uses…

Also, am I the only one who thinks the Greens just showed themselves to be Big Brother? That’s a bit worrisome itself.

srylands: No, they actually have a point…our parliament is not much different to how Britain’s is portrayed in that clip…and to the Greens’ considerable credit, they very rarely engage in personality politics…in the chamber at least…Turia does it a bit in the media…

Accurately identifying the disfunction of the Conservatives and Labour is not the same thing as making a case that the Greens are better. So the bit where they parodied the existing parties was amusing (if a bit of a stretch in a number of ways).

However, the bit where they then explained how they would fix it just didn’t stack up. We care about the planet, we’re making all healthcare free, we’re being mean to greedy corporations, we’re banning fracking, and we’re confident in our policies. All good news, but no reason to believe that they won’t bankrupt the country. I mean, I could easily tell you about my policies to give everyone a free electric BMW and how I’m confident in my policies, but that isn’t any reason to vote for me.

Nice production values though, and moderately amusing idea.
