I seen Backbenches last night as I recorded it.

I must say Julie Anne Genter is a pretty face but should not be in Parliament. She was justifying people watching the Joseph Parker fight on streaming because the price was too high in her opinion. She went on to say it the price had been lower Sky, the promoters and Joseph himself would have made more in they had set the price lower. Does she think the Sky and the promoters are stupid? If they thought they could have made more profit with a lower price they would have charged a higher price to make less profit.

Grant Robertson voiced a similar opinion but not quite as strongly as Genter.

I think it appalling that MPs justify or rationalize theft, breach of copy-writ or any form of law breaking particularly because the price is too high. Does Genter and Robertson think people are justified in stealing fags because of the new tax?

That is the best part of the article and quite a sensible soundbite undoubtedly encompassing the entire population.

I pay a shed load of tax, like many others here, and recognise the need for taxation in society; I have issues with how the Government spend the tax that I contribute especially when there is nigh on a flag referendum and a half allocated for maori language.

Plenty of flak for the spending on the referendum but I can guarantee not a squeak about maori language for fear of upsetting the natives and the shrills calling ‘racist!’ Sigh.

That money allocated for sustaining a stone-age language would have doubled the roll out of the bowel screening programme; how many lives are saved by speaking maori? How many people this year will die from bowel cancer?

I understand that this argument can be manipulated for all areas of Government spending but there are some glaring anomalies that can, and need, to be addressed.

It’s just as well no one ever comes here to complain about Sky’s prices, how they can get a better service from their illegal VPN in Texas to Netflix and how they will write a letter to Sky about how justified they are in cancelling their subscription, which, by the way, they know that Sky’s CEO will personally read.

“The best business could say about Budget 2016 yesterday was it retained a stable base for business development from which to launch growth. …”

Is that not what a good budget should do !!! Do people expect the Govt. to run their businesses for them ?

Talked all day about how great this place used to be and what a shithole it is now.

Mind you I did sight a white guy in Stoddard Road so obviously their are some who were too poor to get out.

Just heard on RNZ (old National Radio) news that a Wellington City Council officer has thrown out a load of Cr Helene Ritchie’s papers and notes, (by mistake?)
The Mayor and CE have told Cr Ritchie that she can go dumpster-diving to retrieve her material.

What is going on down there? Where is Wellington’s PWD?

The next development will be on 6 July. That’s when the Public Watchdog will try to persuade a High Court Judge that the District Court Judge got it wrong. The District Court Judge told Penny that she needed to pay her overdue rates bill plus a generous costs contribution! I guess the Public Watchdog figures that if she gets far enough up the court tree, to a three-bench Court of Appeal, and then a five-bench Supreme Court, then she might eventually find one judge (in the minority) who agrees with her!

I’d love to know what happened in the defamation case though – I suspect the case has been thrown out as the Public Watchdog (on 10 March 2016) was given an opportunity to tidy up her statement of claim. Then, this month, she couldn’t be bothered turning up in court to say why her case should proceed.

I did laugh – at how fucked-up the crazed mutants who came up with this ad and the potential audience for it are. One person’s “normal” is another person’s “you won’t believe this shit.” Also: don’t read the Daily Mail, unless you’re really hanging out for important news about which celebrities had to adjust their bikinis at the beach.

New Zealand diplomat quizzed over bar incident

Police questioned a New Zealand diplomat on Wednesday for allegedly obstructing officers who tried to arrest his friends on suspicion of molesting a female bar worker.

Great.. and I was getting along so well with an NZ passport in Korea.

Yongsan Police Station in Seoul said two companions of the diplomat, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly molested a female employee at a bar in Itaewon Tuesday night and assaulted a security guard who tried to take them to police. As police tried to arrest the two, the diplomat allegedly pushed them and kicked the patrol car.

Yep. Sounds like a New Zealand diplomat.
