Mike Yardley writes:
With the calendar about to tumble into June, expect to see more political aspirants for the city council elections start to declare their intentions.
The leftie political bloc, People’s Choice, has grand designs on conquering the super-sized political landscape in October, with 16 councillors to be elected from 16 wards.
People’s Choice has already signalled a non-negotiable plank in its election platform will be to block any further asset sales in the next council term.
In contrast to this unblinking group-think approach, it can only be hoped that winter will flush out a fresh crop of independent-minded council candidates to contest the ideologues.
You get what you vote for, which in this case would be much greater debt and rates.
