Olympics is no longer about a bunch of good athletes setting an example of striving for glory.

So far we already see the opening ceremony being used to virtue signal with climate change messages (and Greenpeace logos). Huffington Post gives this all a huge thumbs up – no doubt done with nobody feeling the least hypocrisy about the hundreds of millions of passenger miles burned to get the athletes there and the huge impact on the local population.

We we already see a whole hunch of “alternate heros” emerging from Olympics including the baby-oiled bloke from Tonga.

Last Olympics the “alternate hero” was the bloke from Africa in the swimming event who almost drowned because he could not swim.

Naah, this is stuffed – the lefty narrative has killed off real heroes and replaced them with a pathetic bunch of messages and ideologies.

Best atmosphere I’ve ever encountered at a New Zealand Rugby game was at Otago vs Canterbury for the Ranfurly Shield (does anyone even remember or care about ‘The Shield?) at Lancaster Park in 1994.
Two teams chock full of All Blacks smashing into each other in a nail-biter- 50 odd thousand singing and going off in the Terraces! I’ll take that any day over some bullshit, meaningless ‘Super Rugby’ game..

Mention of the swimming at the 2000 Sydney games reminds me of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay. The USA had never lost the event in the history of the Olympics, and according to one of them, they were going to “smash the Aussies like guitars”. Great race that set two world records at once.

Of course they were classified or should have been known to be but she’s trying to muddy the waters. At least that’s my read on it. As you know I don’t really care who wins. I do find the ‘How the odds have changed’ graph interesting. The last few days of August is a huge reversal of the trend. Trump certainly has had a bad week with some horrendous gaffes and a massive barrage from the MSM. Plus I read a number of Polls now exclude the respondents who say ‘neither’.
Is the reversal of the trend an outlier?
I guess we will see.

Well, I care who wins. More in a negative sense, in that Trump could be a disaster on a global scale. It is looking pretty good for Clinton from here, though, with reports that the Democrats are upping their campaigning in states that the GOP should be able to take for granted.

America wants its; country, guns and bibles back.

But most of all I like the fact he is not an interventionist and is against waging war in the holy lands.

He believes in looking after America and leading change by example, not by bombs.

An Auckland Middle Easterner, described as having permanent residency since 2014, goes to the MSM after a pre-school declines further enrolment for his autistic child.

Of course this is sad, and autism is cruel for parents as well as for those afflicted, but the father, Zeeshan Ahmed, seems to have a strong sense of entitlement.

“Education is his basic right…” the father says.

The Stuff reporter says the Ministry of Education “slammed” the pre-school’s decision.

The reporter adds that the ministry’s special education team had been working with the family, both at the kindergarten and at home, since they arrived in Auckland more than a year ago. A ministry spokesman is quoted:

“A speech language therapist and a specialist early intervention teacher have also worked with the family and the staff at the centre.”

You feel sympathy for the family, but this incident is an example of the way National’s mad immigration policy is going to strain the national social security and education systems until they burst.

Could that be National’s agenda? Kill Leftist social security, welfare, and State family support by swamping them with demand from a surging population? Similarly with State education.

National has a core of supporters who know money doesn’t grow in plantations like pines, and who are smart enough to know that with four decades of balance of payments deficits, the economy is vulnerable.

If not to pressure the welfare state and the state education system what aim could National’s high immigration policy have?

stephieboy, Mr Trump was against the Iraq war. Hillary was for it and Obama re-started it.

Do some homework and get your facts in order.

He is not anti-immigration either. He employs many immigrants and is married to a first generation American.
