    It wasn’t a short cut. It was a deliberate ploy.
    
    She and the husband kept the kid off record in order to infiltrate NZ easier and calculated that once they had their hooks in, they could run crying to the Progressive media with a sob story about never being able to see their disable son again.
    
    Notice the NZ Herald article is by one Mr Tan the papers “diversity, ethnic affairs and immigration senior reporter.”
    
    These 3rd Worlders know how to work the system and take everything they can get. Back in that hell hole Nepal, scheming, fraud and corruption are normal unremarkable features of everyday life. They bring their culture with them to NZ.

      They do that in other cultures…not chuck the disabled and old into residential care.
      This country spends a fortune on old Pakeha put in institutions, plus the disabled.

  Achmed Zaoui was allowed to bring his disabled son here – was that because he was an asylum seeker? He had millions more spent on himself and his family, plus his extended whanau than this disabled child would ever have, however am aware of the immigration rules and that the “special special” people of a certain ideology are obviously allowed to bend them with no repercussions (two wives even).

My heart goes out to any mother that has a child with this level of disability. But no one is making you choose. You left your elder son in the care of your mother while you made a better life in NZ for you and your younger son. I’m sure from the start you realised that if you had placed the elder on your original application for immigration, that it would not have been accepted.

Don’t play the victim game. It’s unbecoming.

  Agree, NW. While having sympathy for any parent with a child with a condition such as this, this situation is entirely of her own making. I’m sure the intention was to keep quiet about the elder son until the rest of them were safely ensconced in NZ (with PR) and then tug at our heart strings to get the other one in. If she had been upfront she probably wouldn’t have got in in the first place, but we aren’t obliged to solve all the third world’s problems.

Heard Newstalks ZB flapjaw on early radio,castigating John Key for lowering the immigration cap for migrants. Seems flap jaw is more interested in NZ getting a few extra dollars from migrants,even though NZs quality of life is under pressure in the Hospitals ,Housing ,and welfare benefits,are taking a beating. Flapjaw conveniently omits to say that anecdotal evidence, seems to say ,that up to three thousand essential migrants into NZ, who have sponsored their parents into NZ,have now left NZ ,leaving behind their parents to be cared for in due course by NZ ,Taxpayers. No wonder John Key has trimmed the immigration cap. Maybe it is time flapjaw from Newstalk ZB faces reality,on the immigration question ,rather than screaming for more so called immigrants, and how NZs taxpayers quality of life is under threat.

      Some years ago, my son, who now lives and works in UK permanently had a letter from IRD which stated that the rules for Super had now changed. One is not allowed to claim it unless one has worked in NZ for at least ten years before departing and again so many years ( I have forgotten) after returning. Does this not rule out superannuation being paid to parents of immigrants?

      Have a look at a map. You could argue that India and Bangladesh are in Asia, but Pakistan is a stretch.
      
      It shares a border with India, but it also shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan Culturally it is far more like Iran and Afghanistan.
      
      For all practical considerations Pakistan is not part of Asia.

I have given thought to what the media Worldwide and New Zealand will do after the 8th November election in the USA.
For some time now every news bulletin and commentator has spewed for vitriol against Trump.
When the corrupt second Clinton Presidency comes into power what will the media do ?
They will not dare comment on her ability to physically and mentally lead the bankrupt USA.

I assume that the New Zealand so called media will turn their sights back again on Key, following the commendation of Angry Andy and his cohort unionists, who I believe have been told to strike in rotation until the next election in the belief that sympathy will go to Labour/Greens. But it should be recognised that those currently on strike – the Doctors are amongst the highest paid employees in the country – they went into medicine to earn top money so they knew the terms of the membership of the club. If they did not accept these rules why did they join.
Teachers ,I understand, are next with very union undertaking to strike in rotation.There are some 360,000 registered union members in New Zealand and it is they led??? by Angry Andy who are intent in holding the country to ransom.
They are of course supported by the taxpayer supported Feminazi so called political reporters who will do any thing to bring the country to its knees. Trump vitriol continuing condemnation will burn out s what will the media do ?
Andy – be careful as there will be a backlash.

  I think that if teachers go on strike, they will annoy so many hard working parents (who would just love their pay and conditions of work) that it will be totally counter productive. Time for the government to take a hard line on the union I suggest, as it will be as vote catching as being tough on crime.

    Parents are willing to go along with the “teachers are heroes” meme because teachers and schools effectively provide child care which parents appreciate.

Known facts.

I find it strange that the people including Phil Goff that are are all for charging 15 cent for a plastic bag when purchasing goods.Not one of these people have taken the time to congratulate the likes of Countdown or other retailers that have started a scheme that encourages their customers to bring back their plastic bags and put them in the bin designated for them which are then sent back to be made into something else.Why not encourage all retailers in all shops to do this before putting another tax on NZ’s

… Matt Cowgill, an economist and stout defender of the millennial, yesterday tweeted an excellent graph showing that according to the ABS’s household expenditure survey, people in households aged 25-34 actually spend more of their income now on housing than they did in 1989.

Not only that, they spend less of their income on food now than they did then.

Cowgill showed the data comparison of 1989 and 2010 which is the latest data we have (but the ABS has had regular such surveys going back to 1984).

A look at the amount of 25-24 year-olds income spent on housing, food, alcohol and recreation shows that, rather unsurprisingly, the big increase in housing expenditure came in the 2000s with the housing boom:

Hamilton police recently checked how many of the 13 beggers on the street asking for money were homeless.

Turns out only 2 were homeless. The other 11 were bringing props, bits of ripped cardboard signs, a grubby duvet, etc from home.

The business association has asked the public not to give beggers money, which is only encouraging beggers to accost the public for money.

For mine, the issue wasn’t so much with Barnes as much as the selectors who put him in charge of this match with only 4 previous tier 1 international experience. No other sport would put such an inexperienced official in charge of such a playoff game.

Contrary to what the village idiot, Stephen Jones, says; his performance wasn’t “adequate” in the slightest and the forward pass wasn’t the defining mistake. He made many poor decisions (and non-decisions) in that game but ultimately the All Blacks should have been above those.

He has developed into a very good referee at international level who enjoys a good relationship with all teams he officiates.

  Quite so Salacious. Barnes was a like a possum in the headlights in that match, which he should never have been asked to officiate. He basically gave up penalising the French when they were hard on defence in the second half, and allowed them to infringe at will. It was gross incompetence by the IRB to appoint a promising but as yet untested under pressure referee to such a match.

Last month’s NCEA Level One Algebra exam hit the news in a big way, with children upset over its difficulty, and teachers and parents outraged that the exam was not reflective of what the students were taught. (See NZQA slammed over ‘far too difficult’ maths exam – students left in tears)

Over the intervening weeks, letters sent to NZQA and to Hekia Parata, and the responses to those letters have been aggregated on this page: 2016 MCAT Feedback. They make for very interesting reading. A number of them contain detailed analyses of the questions that were set at too high a level for NCEA One.

A letter has just appeared today that was sent by Rhona Lever to Hekia Parata (PDF link) that explains how NZQA and the Ministry of Education is out of control when it comes to Mathematics. Rhona Lever wrote the standard that the algebra exam was based on. She totally demolishes the excuses of NZQA that the exam represented more of an alignment to the standard itself. As the lead writer of that standard, she should know.

What’s been disappointing is the response by Hekia Parata to these complaints that have been sent to her. Many of them have been forwarded to NZQA who then reply to the complaints against them. This letter from Rhona Lever ought to generate a more than just a passing of the buck to NZQA who cannot be trusted to investigate themselves.

He says flat out that they have people go into the lines and incite violence – that there are coordinated groups in different cities, they follow Trump and pence’s calendar, and that the unions hire people to help.   The problem is dependence on two incomes to afford home ownership, WFF tax credits to the one income family now only secures them in rental property.
  
  As you note a convergence of first DPB, then easier divorce and finally lack of jobs led to a lot of single mother households and thus increased poverty 80’s-90’s.
  
  One problem now is when parents have two children and child care costs ends employment of one for a time. Thus political pressure to improve targeted support to this middle class group and more generally fund free ECE time (so employment when the second child is age 3 is possible).
  
  The other problems are in the standard and availability of housing, and the fitness of people to be responsible parents.

  And attacking the aid convoy to end the cease-fire out of vendetta because of American ineptitude in bombing Syrian forces rather than IS ones was as cynical a play as one will see.         True Griff – and those admissions come from the Russian government themselves. As I recall the analysis they basically need to have oil at $100 / barrel just to budget the balance. That’s not going to happen.
        
        Of course people who actually did want to engage in intelligent geo-political analysis might look at Russia’s increasing involvement in the ME and point out how much they would benefit from disruptions to oil supplies from the likes of Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. Not to mention Iran, which faces the same budget problems with low oil prices.
        
        We’ll see how well the little KGB tough guy’s testicles stand up to a decade of being squeezed.

        Putin needs to ramp up the climate of conflict if he is to promote and sell Russian weapons globally (to make up for budget shortfall – raiding the reserves) with the oil price down a bit and the sanctions from US/EU.

A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn’t do it while he waited, so he said he didn’t live far and would just walk home.

On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem – how to carry his entire purchases home.

While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, ‘Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane ?’ The farmer said, ‘Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.’

The old lady suggested, ‘Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?’ ‘Why thank you very much,’ he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

On the way he says ‘Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time..

The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, ‘I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me… How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?’

The farmer said, ‘Holy smokes lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?’

The old lady replied, ‘Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.

If only all the old ladies at KB were so proactively adaptive! 🙂

The judge has done his best to direct the jury to find the Tostee not guilty.

In fact he has gone so far as to mislead the jury to do so.

“The jury – six men and six women – also asked if Tostee putting Wright on his balcony constituted removing her from his property.

Justice Byrne’s reply was brief.

“Yes,” he answered.”

How is the balcony not part of the property? It is only for the use of the person in it and only safely accessible to them – it is there to add value to the property.

Denying that he had confined her as a hostage within his property is clear misdirection of the jury. Denying that she was in his property when confined to the balcony area goes on to infer she was under no threat after being forcibly confined there.

The undertone is that this is just what white men do – forcibly confine children and women and coloureds when they rebel against their superior. Or go to a mans property and then be disobedient him at your own risk.

  Tostee could be heard choking Ms Wright and forcing her out onto the balcony and cutting off her only safe means of escape.
  
  “Just let me go home, just let me go home,” Ms Wright said in the recording.
  
  “I would but you’ve been a bad girl,” Tostee replied.
  
  And the defence poses that as him “protecting himself” (when he could have forced out the front door instead).
  
  But the police have not charged him with taking her hostage by force as a means to intimidate and punish her. If the police do not charge him on this offence after the trial he will get away with it.
  
  One has to suspect that some in the jury think he should be convicted for what he did, culpable of duress/distress (from fight to flight at her/your own risk) leading to death/holding out for manslaughter.
  
  Maybe so that he can be re-tried on forcibly taking some/holding someone hostage in a confined area. It is in the grey area of flight (resisting enforced confinement) being at some risk that there is a connection to a manslaughter charge.

Malaysia is a predominantly Muslim country and the government’s religious authority has threatened to withdraw the snack’s halal certificate.

Sirajuddin Suhaimee, director of the halal division of the Department of Islamic Development, said there had been a number of complaints from tourists from other Muslim countries who had apparently taken the name too literally.

‘In Islam, dogs are considered unclean and the name cannot be related to halal certification.’
