Dr Wayne Mapp was giving his opinion at the Stranded yesterday on the protest by Marama Davidson. He was met by this unwarranted vitriol by OAB who seems he is gods gift over there.
Where were the moderators……??

  Unfortunately I happen to be very good at managing systems and people because of my family background, training, or whatever (personally I think it is mostly genetics). Consequently being a total contrarian I have spent most of my working life figuring out how to avoid it.

  We have to be careful with our judgement of the little fulla’s now publicised shag though.   Perhaps their proclivity to hook up with honky slappers can be traced back to colonial oppression, and this obsessive pursuit may be an important part of their ongoing healing process. I was amazed to hear on Red Radio this morning a “gentleman” bitterly complaining the Ngata Love was dealt with by a non Maori Judge and not under Maori justice system.
If Maori system had dealt with this in the Maori days of greatness theft would have been dealt with in the boiling pot.
After the complaining of that Douglas Graham should be stripped of his Knighthood for Board Incompetence then surely Love should be stripped of his Knighthood for Theft.
Bit of course it is different for Maori.

    Ronald Biggs thought he would escape jail on health grounds but the authorities said Belmarsh was well equipped to cope, and so it turned out.
    Rimutaka is a big prison and would have a reasonable number of prisoners needing medical attention and quasi hospital facilities – indeed some people think prisoners have too much health care. Ngata’s health would probably be more closely monitored in Rimutaka prison than he would be at home. Last thing Corrections wants is a deceased prisoner.
    
    Apparently in the old days, Maoris thought that by eating someone’s brain they would gain the knowledge and wisdom of the deceased. In this case I suspect they would have given his brain a miss.

It is indeed sad that the best media that New Zealand can find is that some All Black had his end away in a toilet at Christchurch Airport, and that some “>>>>>” woman took photos of those involved and then contacted the press. Perhaps she was jealous that it was not her.
With what is going on around both New Zealand and around the World the so called Media can find something better to review rather than a testosteroned All Black.

  There was an incident at an end of year rugby do at Okoroire about 2 months ago. A stripper who was doing a ‘private cash job’ outside her agency had a disagreement of charge out rates for a bus driver groping her girlie bits so went to the media to air her grievance. An Ambush.
  
  A rugby player has a shag and some voyeurs recorded it as if the sky was falling but waited three weeks to tell us about the falling sky. They, like incident one, went direct to the media. It’s about impact.
  
  These were ambushes. Facilitated and blown out of proportion by media filth.

Collins moved away from Twyford as he lunged toward her when he was making a point, the body language by her was so obvious. Twyford really is a wanker, and he reeks of insincerity. So Angela Roberts from the Teachers Union has commented on the figures of Teachers appearing before the Disciplinary Committee with saying .that the figures are in context when comparing them with the number of teachers.Well if that is what she thinks keeps children safe in schools she is what most would call deluded and should not be in the education system.Six teachers are facing discipline issues this month and that is six to many if you have young children in school and you only have to look back at the caretaker that committed many sexual offences at several schools over several year that the school unions turned a blind eye to.This Lady is the first to jump on Government Minister’s if things are not right but expects others to turn a blind eye when the Union who protect these teachers should be responseable for their bad decisions

  Well said Happychappy. This is one and the same PPTA which wants Partnership Schools banned because they employ some unregistered (read “non-union”) teachers, wehich must by PPTA definition be dangerous for children.
  
  As Whaleoil regularly points out, registered teachers do all sorts of things that are not in the best interests of the profession or students, and many get struck off. For Ms Roberts to downplay this whilst attacking the integrity of unregistered teachers and the schools who employ them is the kind of hypocrisy one would expect from a self-serving unionist.

The morality of Smith’s indiscretion is a matter for him and his partner.

Unfortunately though, when you are wearing your employer’s uniform and you potentially bring the employer into disrepute, then it becomes an employment matter. If one of my staff is driving a signwritten work car and does something stupid, it will get back to us. We can then decide whether it merits taking action. Given all the crap NZRU has endured in recent weeks (some of it being self-inflicted), Smith is likley to face a disciplinary process, and fair enough.

Whatever the outcome of that however, it pales into insignificance with the “disciplinary process” he will face when he gets home to Dunedin.

  I always find it ironic that they take the moral highgound and wheel out phrases like “role model” and “pedestal” when they are the ones that put these guys up there in the first place.
  I do feel also for the throughly decent players in that squad who get tarnished by association by a colleagues’ sordid, ill judged behaviour.

    Well said SC. The All Blacks have done a lot within the team culture to counteract the “boofhead” image. Take the disciplining of Aaron Cruden when he had an unauthorised night out before the team left for Argentina; ultimately, without him.
    
    The team sets standards, and has its own leadership group to maintain them. The same was the case with the Hurricanes this season; when senior players were late back from a night out in Durban, they were dropped for a game because they breached a team-decided protocol. I think that was a major factor in their success this year; a really strong team culture, with no tolerance for dickheads, regardless of whether they were frontline or bench players, All Blacks or rookies.
    
    Aaron Smith will be gutted he has let himself, his partner and their families down. But he will also be very aware he has let the All Blacks down, and will now have to win back their respect.

  I think the NZRFU handles misbehaving rugby players very poorly by forcing them to make public apologies often written by professional spin doctors and making them cry in front of cameras. Aaron Cruden comes to mind too. Probably Zac Guildford too.

    There are interesting philosophical discussions to be had. He did not bring his employer into disrepute, his behaviour didn’t cause the disrepute, it was the reporting of it by those witnesses.
    
    One of those witnesses made comments (it is reported) about the All Blacks, being on a pedestal and being role models. Smith’s private behaviour had no possibility of have impact on anyone, had no chance of affecting his status as a role model without Smith’s private behaviour being reported.
    
    Are the witnesses who reported the incident and the voracious and ferocious media on a campaign to moralise and intrude into private behaviour so public figures, entertainers such as sports people, acknowledged role models, meet their standards?
    
    In that light do those at NZME and Fairfax have their ears, fingers and mouths at the ready to report on the private behaviour of colleagues in each others camps? Or is there tacit agreement of “hands off”?
    
    Those outfits put Aaron Smith’s employment conditions and behaviour impacting on them up for scrutiny and conjecture because he’s a well-known entertainer. Will those media mobs do the same for those in their business? And please don’t say, “Sorry, nothing to report.” There is.
    
    And anyway if there isn’t they should make it up, insinuate, suggest, hint. God knows they do that enough.

      That’s a pretty lame argument Doggone. Had Smith not followed the woman into the loo, there wouldn’t have been anything to report on.
      
      Say for example I am driving a company car, and talking on my hand-held cellphone. Someone sees me, and sends a photo to my boss (and wife!). Yes; I will be peeved that someone caught me on camera, but that doesn’t change the fact I did something stupid while driving a vehicle emblazoned with company signwriting.
      
      It’s a chicken-and-egg thing, but regardless, the media frenzy is totally OTT.

        I agree with the chicken and egg thing and don’t disagree with it all being down to him. I am saying it makes for an interesting debate. He was/they were bringing his company into disrepute.
        If the people who reported hadn’t done so, the “morality” around what happened and the probable breaking of parts of his work contract would have been exactly the same but no-one but them would have known. Did the same, no disrepute.
        No doubt those who dobbed him in are reporting other cases of employees bringing their companies into disrepute by the way they use the company car, driving while on the phone, etc.

Watch as the retirement village operators over supply the market not understanding that baby boomers will live longer and choose to stay in their homes for much longer than their parents. Improved medical care and robots that will be cheap to buy and can do tasks such as mow lawns and take out the garbage together with online shopping will ensure this happens. Those will shares in the listed operators would do well to consider this as to the right time to sell down and then buy back in when the market corrects itself.

In my opinion, Aaron Smith shouldn’t have had a shag in a public toilet [or a blow job for that matter], not so much because he is an All Black, but because I don’t reckon a public toilet is a place to have a shag. Not something I would ever have done , no matter how attractive the woman who asked me if I would like to shag her in a public toilet was.
But nor would I ever take a photo of someone leaving a toilet, and I wouldn’t have much respect for anyone who feels that is an OK thing to do.

  This was a disabled toilet, right? If I were disabled and I had to sit outside for 10 minutes while they slathered STD ridden bodily fluids all over the place, I’d be annoyed that some able bodied person considered it okay to put out disabled people for personal gratification.
  
  Then I’d take a photo if I could think of a valid media outlet to send it to, to teach disabled toilet abusers a lesson. However, I’m not disabled nor a creep, so in reality, I have no valid reason or desire to do so.

    The one thing that bothers me about the whole thing is the hygiene aspects. He nails some slapper in the toilet, then goes and sits on a plane to South Africa (I am assuming the flight takes about 10-12 hours, I have never been there), all the while some strange womens DNA and bodily juices are degrading on him. Some of my old time rugby mates do not see the Smith shagging as a big deal.

Some sports people are allowed to used banned drugs if they need them for a medical condition, i.e Marty Drysdale for his piles.
But I can’t help thinking doesn’t that leave the system open to abuse? Maybe not here in New Zealand but there may well be some countries where a doctor might falsify the reason why a banned drug is being given to a sports person . Say a doctor in a European country asked for an exemption because an Olympic rower from that country had piles when that rower didn’t have piles. I mean who is going to peer up that rowers arse just to check that he/she does have piles.
Mind you , on thinking about that, and at the risk of being called a male chauvinist pig, I wouldn’t mind having a look at a female rowers bare arse.

  To a certain extent, but less than you’d think, I’d say. The specific drugs and dosage would have to match the medical condition, and I’d say the sports agencies have plenty of doctors willing to “look up people’s backsides” or equivalent. Also, some of the restricted medications aren’t that helpful for performance in some sports. Corticosteroids don’t build muscle and strength the same way the anabolic steroids do – in fact, prolonged use of some produces weight gain in places that you wouldn’t want it as an athlete and can lead to muscle wastage. But , yeah, there probably is some opportunity for some some abuse.

Without going into the bare arse bit, a doctor must request permission from a Therapeutic Panel of experts before prescribing the drugs. Even then they are at the very minimum dose to fix that specific problem only and short term at that. Long term piles are an entirely different matter usually requiring a scalpel.

But even if that is the case would any of those experts actually check to see if the person who that doctor is requesting permission to prescribe those drugs for actually has piles? The point I am making is that a banned drug is a banned drug. I daresay that particular drug Drysdale was taking would not have been a performance enhancing drug, but it probably allowed him to train at times when he might not have been able to had he not been taking it. And the same goes for that American woman who won gold in the shot put.
She was taking drugs for a medical condition , arthritis if my memory serves me correctly. If she hadn’t been taking those drugs she may not have been able to train, and if she hadn’t been able to train she probably wouldn’t have won the Olympic gold medal.

Just 1 day after slapping the Trump Foundation with a cease-and-desist letter, the New York Attorney General’s office has confirmed that the Clinton Foundation failed to file 3 years worth of supplemental tax forms related to the required disclosure of “donors and contributors” to the New York State Charities Bureau. Of course, the attorney general’s office went to great lengths to quietly explain to CNN that the whole thing was just another honest mistake resulting from the overwhelming complexity of the Clinton Foundation.

I don’t know if the silly cow on the late TV3 news wrote the stories but her attempt, the latest effort to talk crisis in rugby was pathetic, rubbish so-called journalism.

I suppose if some rugby player drives a car this weekend which is involved in a fatality accident, road deaths will be the latest crisis hitting rugby and its place in our society.

Genuine question: Would some of these media outlets be putting the boot into rugby and sensationalising as they are, if they had the broadcast rights to games here?
