Didn’t notice anything in the media about this, but it made the CS Monitor’s list of 16 noteworthy global food moments in 2016.

New Zealand’s BioGrow Society and Soil & Health Association merged. The consolidation of the two organic organizations combines their skills and resources into one entity that is stronger and more unified. The merger hopes to continue to strengthen the growth of organics in New Zealand as well as move towards developing a national legal and regulatory standard for what is considered “certified organic.”

        That’s interesting, Jazz-hands; what I said the other day, was that Amschel Rothschild came out of the ghetto and rose to the top in a system of finance and business that already existed. That alone means that the finance system is not itself a Jewish plot.
        
        My point constantly is that Jews are to be found everywhere there is intellectual endeavour. Making Jews synonymous with the monetary system is ridiculous, because half of the most effective critics OF that system, are Jews. Look at Lew Rockwell dot com and Mises dot com. The western world’s citizens and voters are responsible for not listening to the critics, it is not that “Jews” are responsible for the perpetuation of the inequitable system.
        
        Same for cultural Marxism – some of the most devastatingly effective critics of it, are Jews. Eg David Horowitz, Anthony Daniels, Daniel Greenfield. Again, whose fault is it that the critics are ignored and the “long march” continues to succeed? It can’t be “Jews”, can it?

    There are bugger all Jews in Sweden. If you take another multicultural country, Canada, the prime politician behind its adoption seems to have been Pierre Trudeau, a Catholic.
    
    The prime theorist of multiculturism is the Canadian philosopher Will Kymlicka. I don’t know if he’s Jewish, but he’s a vegan. That could be part of his problem.
    
    Regardless, multiculturism is a Utopian con, and it’s sowing dragon’s teeth for future conflicts.

I had to travel to Auckland for a funeral earlier this week and noticed that there was no-one working on the roadworks by the airport, even when I returned at 4.45 on Thursday, on what was a working day. If the works were being done in Singapore we would have work on a 24 hour basis. No wonder things take ages to get done in Auckland.

  cas, I lived in Singapore for 2 years (1967-69).
  
  At that time, Orchard Road had huge open unbuilt-on spaces and the street as lined with 10-metre-wide monsoon drains on both sides.
  
  In the space of those 2 years, all of the open spaces were built-up, the monsoon drains were long covered up and Singapore, under the brilliant Lee Kuan Yew, was fast on its way to becoming the economic powerhouse it is today.
  
  Here, I swear, the local iwi would have forestalled any progress at all by spending all of those two years demanding that the taniwha in the monsoon drains be pacified (or, more likely, be bought off)…
  
  I was back in Singapore again most recently last year – beaut subway system with stops all along Orchard Road, super-modern buildings, the air of a city that a) knew it was good and b) was going to get gooder.

Great to see so many ordinary NZers given New Year Honours but does anyone else think it odd that people are given awards for services to Maori or to women? I don’t see any awards for services to pakehas or men.

I know, I know, build a bridge and get over it. But it still rankles.

Statement from Putin in response to Barrack ‘Lame Duck’ Obama aka The Political Corpse expelling their Diplomats.

‘We regard the recent unfriendly steps taken by the outgoing US administration as provocative and aimed at further weakening the Russia-US relationship. This runs contrary to the fundamental interests of both the Russian and American people. Considering the global security responsibilities of Russia and the United States, this is also damaging to international relations as a whole.
As it proceeds from international practice, Russia has reasons to respond in kind. Although we have the right to retaliate, we will not resort to irresponsible ‘kitchen’ diplomacy but will plan our further steps to restore Russian-US relations based on the policies of the Trump Administration.
The diplomats who are returning to Russia will spend the New Year’s holidays with their families and friends. We will not create any problems for US diplomats. We will not expel anyone. We will not prevent their families and children from using their traditional leisure sites during the New Year’s holidays. Moreover, I invite all children of US diplomats accredited in Russia to the New Year and Christmas children’s parties in the Kremlin.
It is regrettable that the Obama Administration is ending its term in this manner. Nevertheless, I offer my New Year greetings to President Obama and his family.

On a different note, I see that George Michael’s autopsy was inconclusive as to cause of death. If he had a heart attack, as suggested, that would have shown up with a physical examination. They are now conducting tests which “will take several weeks”; a medical euphemism for toxicology.

    Iirc Congress has the ability to reverse any laws or Regulations instigated by an outgoing President within 60 days of their term finishing.
    Most of Obama’s have been done by Executive Order which Trump can cancel immediately.

More proof for EAD showing that the Germans went beyond normal warfare during WWII and became the monsters that were perfectly capable of perpetuating the Holocaust against the Jews.

The Germans are continuing their campaign of murder in Warsaw. Three days ago two Polish prisoners came with a message from Gestapo headquarters in Such Avenue. The message was that the German troops who were in the post in Pius Street should be allowed to join Gestapo headquarters in Such Avenue. The Germans said that in exchange they would release some Polish prisoners and send some medical supplies. The request was, of course, refused. The two Polish people who brought the message say that the Germans have constructed a crematorium and are shooting and burning about 300 men daily. Up till the time these two people left Gestapo H.Q. 3,000 suits of civil clothing had been received into the German store. That means that 3,000 Polish patriots have already been brutally murdered. It is known that there are another 2,500 prisoners there, and that more are arriving every day. AK is powerless to prevent this brutal wholesale murder. They have not the special types of heavy weapons needed to attack such a heavily fortified stronghold as Such Avenue.

      Kowtow has no problem with multi ethnic ( within reason) We’re all New Zealanders sharing the same values . The problem is multiculturalism which is bullshit. Diversity = division.
      
      So if a Sikh wants to join the NZ police he should wear the same hat everyone else wears, not a turbine , if a Muslim woman wants to join then she wears a she plod hat , not a hijab. Cos that’s how we should do things here .Come here to become a New Zealander not something different.         That is pretty much where I stand. If western civilisation is still western civilisation in 1000 years but the people in it are a racial mixture due to centuries of harmony and intermarriage, that is fine by me. What I don’t want is the west in 1000 years time to look like Sudan now, or the Picts in 50BC, or like Eastern Europe in 1950, or something out of Orwell or Huxley. Skin colour is irrelevant.

Te Puea and Mangere Marae in South Auckland helped hundreds of families find somewhere to live.

The Government did make a number of major policy changes in an attempt to cool the market down.

The rules for Home Start loosened and the Reserve Bank introduced loan-to-value ratios (LVRs).

But taxpayers started footing the bill for people to live temporarily in motels with the Government insisting housing supply is the problem and the solution.

President Obama likes to pretend that he’s a sort of a moral leader. In his head he must be the champion of decency and good grace, a man pointing America toward a broader vision, a fellow questing for social justice and contextual consideration. In reality, he’s narcissistic and stupid. Obama’s legacy is one of failure all around the world. He leaves office with a genocide in Syria on his record. Libya, meanwhile, remains a full-scale disaster area.

This honest position has recently been expressed by the US media source known as Townhall. It notes that Obama came into office amidst grand promises to restore America’s place in the world. Нe’s failed. But at least he feels good about his accomplishments, even if hundreds of thousands have died in order to ensure his moral stature in his own mind…

Obama Finally Wakes Up to Join the SpyWar at the 11th Hour

What President Obama announced will cause Moscow some pain. Two intelligence agencies are explicitly sanctioned: the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff (GRU), both of which engaged in what the media calls “hacking” which is properly termed signals intelligence or SIGINT. Adding GRU and the FSB to the sanctions list won’t mean much practically speaking, but four GRU officers have been cited by name, as have three GRU front companies which were engaged in clandestine SIGINT operations against the Democrats.

More substantively, the State Department is shutting down two Russian “diplomatic” compounds in Maryland and New York which have been used by GRU, FSB and the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) for years as spy bases. Their lavish retreat venue on the Eastern Shore of Maryland had been used by the Russians for decades to covertly collect SIGINT on American installations in the Washington area, particularly the National Security Agency, located in central Maryland.

What’s getting the most attention is how the White House has ordered Foggy Bottom to kick 35 Russian spies out of the country without delay. Around the world, spies pose as diplomats, with accreditation from the host government. Since espionage is illegal pretty much everywhere, this is a polite fiction that allows spies to do their job, quietly, with a modicum of diplomatic protection. They only get that status revoked—it’s called being declared persona non grata, PNG for short, among spies—if they get caught flagrantly violating the host country’s laws. Or, as in this case, if the host country wants to send a strong message.

Mass expulsions were used on occasion during the Cold War, by all sides. Back in 1971, Britain expelled 90 Soviet spies, the lion’s share of the Kremlin’s covert operatives in the country, in reaction to the defection of a KGB officer who told London that Moscow had standing plans to conduct terrorism in the United Kingdom. They did it again in 1985, expelling 25 Soviet “diplomats” from Britain, and Moscow retaliated in kind, declaring 25 British “diplomats” PNG in return, in typical SpyWar fashion.

Obama’s mass spy expulsion removes any doubt about the existence of Cold War 2.0. Thirty-five intelligence officers represent about one-third of the Russian spies which U.S. counterintelligence knows to be operating in our country. Both sides in this spy-game have a good idea of who the real diplomats are and who’s really an undercover spook. That is a setback for Moscow, since it will take time to rebuild damaged espionage networks, but its real-world impact will not be especially severe, since the Kremlin surely knew something like this was coming, thus giving Russian intelligence agencies time to develop back-up plans for this contingency.

Moreover, in an interesting twist, Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced that he will not be expelling 35 American diplomats in any kind of tit-for-tat, as his foreign ministry supposedly requested, adding acidly, “While keeping the right for retaliatory measures, we will not descend to the level of ‘kitchen’, irresponsible diplomacy.” He then invited American diplomats and their families to a Christmas party at the Kremlin, in a classic wry Putinesque touch.

Obama seemingly never got the memo on how the Kremlin does business.

It’s clear that Moscow expects that the new Trump administration will take a far more lenient line with the Kremlin than President Obama is, suddenly, in his last days in the Oval Office. Just this week, President-elect Donald Trump yet again brushed off any notion that the Russians interfered in the election that won him the White House, adding that the country needs to “move on” from what he considers to be a stale issue. This led Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of Trump’s own party, to note that 99 Senators agree with Obama and the Intelligence Community on the issue of Russian spy-games in 2016.

Sadly, this latest action can only be described as ‘petulant’, and one has to wonder who has been ‘leaning’ on Mr. Obama for him to act as he is – all this because of ‘supposed’ and ‘unconfirmed’ actions by the Russians. No solid, factual, and verifiable evidence has been produced so far to indicate that the Russians were involved, but, hey, it makes good newspaper and TV copy, especially when your sycophants are willingly pushing it.

One has to wonder what Obama’s next ‘trick’ will be, and if he will be ‘wearing the purple’ while he’s performing it.

South Head Manukau. What a lovely place. But I found evidence of sea levels rising. It happens twice a day – same as it does on The Shore. So this sea level rising is now happening everywhere??

New Zealand’s fatality rate is now much lower than it was in the 1980s to 2000s, but it had stopped declining since 2011, apart from the record low of 2013.

Other countries had been seeing similar trends, with Australia and many European nations also recording road toll increases after long periods of decline.

A code associated with the Russian hacking operation dubbed Grizzly Steppe by President Barack Obama’s administration has been detected within the system of a utility in the US state of Vermont, according to officials.

While the Russians did not actively use the code to disrupt operations of the utility, according to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss a security matter, the penetration of the nation’s electrical grid is significant because it represents a potentially serious vulnerability. Government and utility industry officials regularly monitor the nation’s electrical grid because it is highly computerised and any disruptions can have disastrous implications for the function of medical and emergency services.

American officials, including one senior administration official, said they are not yet sure what the intentions of the Russians might have been. The penetration may have been designed to disrupt the utility’s operations or as a test by the Russians to see whether they could penetrate a portion of the grid.

And this is an interesting Business Insider article – it makes the point that the US power grid is vulnerable to a physical attack, as distinct from a cyber attack, and that a well-organised physical attack could shut down the US power grid for 18 months.

    I’m always cautious when I read a media report based on “officials who spoke on condition of anonymity”. The media report may be accurate, or partially-accurate, or just plain bollocks, and there’s no way for a casual reader to tell.
    
    But the underlying theme – cyber attack on critical infrastructure – is exciting. Remember Die Hard 4?
    
    The FBI responds to a brief computer outage at their Cyber-Security Division by tracking down top computer hackers, finding several of them have been killed. The FBI asks New York City Police Department detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) to bring in Matthew “Matt” Farrell (Justin Long), one of the targeted hackers. McClane arrives just in time to save Farrell from assassins working for Mai Linh (Maggie Q), who works for her boss and love interest, Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant).
    
    En route to Washington, D.C. with McClane, Farrell reveals that he received a large sum of money from Mai to write an algorithm that can crack a security system. Meanwhile, Gabriel orders his own crew of hackers to take control of the transportation grids and stock market, while nationally broadcasting a message threatening the United States. What a waste of time, effort & money. A genuinely nice guy & an absolutely brilliant forensic pathologist.

      We don’t expect much from our government, but surely a visionary plan to combat obesity isn’t too much to ask:
      
      While the Government is set to release its new plan to “combat obesity”, the first Fat Studies class offered in New Zealand is drawing to a close.
      
      The course, Critical Understandings of Fatness and Health, is being offered as a 300 level distance learning course within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Massey University, and contributes to the college’s larger focus on exploring citizenship in the 21st century.
      
      It has been offered as a special topic in 2015 as the University gauges demand for further interest in the course. And it’s timely too, with the second New Zealand Fat Studies conference being planned for 2016, four years after an inaugural conference was held. Scholars and activists from three continents are expected to attend to discuss issues related to the scientific study as well as the lived experiences of fat individuals.
      
      There’s no need for fat studies classes and scholarly conferences. The government should stop funding community courses in prostitution and twilight golf, and focus on worthwhile courses such as masturbation, given the undisputed medical benefits!

  Sorry to hear that, nasska.
  Meanwhile, church ministers have no such penalties for playing around with their flocks.
  A minister’s wife some years back told me that it is common practice with the holier than us.
  In fact, the only time the church elders of her hubbies denomination stepped in to so much as reprimand a minister, was when he kicked his wife out of the house and installed a teenage girl in her place.
  (And only because the house was owned by the church.)
