Labour promises to weaken health and safety laws

Stuff reports:

Labour leader has promised to table a bill in to help re-entry to the Pike River mine drift. …

“The only excuse the has given so far for not helping the families get re-entry to the drift of the mine is they are concerned about liability of the directors. Well, we can fix that through legislation.”

Little said he the proposed bill would take liability from the directors and allow experts to go into the drift “to see what can be recovered”.

So the former head of the miners union that campaigned and demanded safer workplaces is now saying he will pass a law removing health and safety liability from the most dangerous workplace in , where 29 people died.

What a sad hypocrite.
