Annett King was less than sympathetic on ZB this morning saying she does not condone benefit fraud. Turei is toast and more so Labour if they continue to hitch their wagon to the Greens. She must be prosecuted to preserve and protect the rule of law. Anything less would be a slap in the face of all the law abiding beneficiaries.

If it’s morally ok to rip off the government by taking unentitled benefits, surely its ok to under declare your income and thereby underpay your tax.

      matchbox: I like to think the biggest change to our criminal law since the abolition of capital punishment was a reasonable achievement…and if you have been an ACT supporter for as long as you say, you will know that ACT had a solid bloc of people who voted for them because of the law and order policies long before I came along. In other words, 3S and other stuff I supported was pure ACT, and not some aberration as some have claimed…even here.
      
      And although he says otherwise, there is no doubt that young Mr Seymour doesn’t have his heart in the law and order arena.

        The very obvious lack of protestation about Turei’s admission is evidence enough for me that Seymour is nothing more than a lapdog of National and has been (to a degree) silenced. Why are Act not shouting louder about this situation and why are National so quiet? Who is putting the boot in when it’s required? Nobody, even Paula Bennett has a soft attitude towards it. I find it quite startling nobody is willing to put the knife in.

        But not one instance of a third strike has resulted in a third strike penalty.

    Would get less money from the taxpayer, but the taxpayer would recover none from the father. Usually the father then tops up the mother under the table so both are better off and the taxpayer worse off.
    Given the father seems to have been confirmed below, I would be more interested in seeing IRD go after him for unpaid child support, probably a bigger number than she stole.

So while Turei was stealing from taxpayers apparently to feed her starving child, it’s interesting to see she had time and, more importantly, the cash to run for parliament, twice. Once for the mcgillicuddys and once for legalise cannabis party. I wonder if, while running for the latter, she paid for her own supplies or bludged them too.

Metiria’s confession to fraud (wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain) does seem to have successfully diverted attention away from her greater fraud (and again her Party condones it) – proposing welfare changes costing $1.468 billion and using the tax system to increase revenue by $163.4 million from the “rich”, so leaving $1.3 billion to find from “somewhere”, and having absolutely no bloody idea where that might be.

Although the greens are publicly closing ranks in support of the criminal there are some very very pissed off Green members. In addition there is the sound of knives being sharpened in the Labour camp as it reflects badly on their marriage of convenience.

Interesting that the knuckle draggers over at the Standard are making excuses for the criminal. Then again what else would you expect from the left.

I am so pleased that she has fallen flat on her fat smirking face after previously seeing her swirling around in designer clothing flicking crumbs off her plate to the poor.

This is going to end in a flood of tears.

I find it incredibly ironic that someone can finance their way through law school by defrauding the tax payer and then try to claim the moral high ground. Surely the law society would be more than slightly miffed? Mind you, I suppose it’s chicken feed compared to what they cost the country by pushing down the value of the power companies last election.

Media is pushing the line that the Meteria girls admission of criminality is somehow edgy, bold and will attract young voters, overlooking that many older Green supporters will be disgusted. Some of these will give TOP a second look, given their socialist ideology and stance on environmental issues, especially water.
