5000 illegals in a tiny state like NH, imagine how yuge the fraud is in the populous states. It’s very clear that the lie about “Hillary won the popular vote” is totally busted. At a time when we’re seeing the same degree of out and out dishonesty from the Left in NZ!

    This is the relevant bit.
    ‘The vast majority of the 6,240 voters in New Hampshire who registered on the same day they cast ballots – 70 percent – used out-of-state identification to prove their identities, according to the Public Interest Legal Foundation. That’s something that people who have just moved into the state can do, prior to obtaining New Hampshire ID.’
    ‘But only about 7 percent of those same-day registrants went on to obtain New Hampshire driver’s licenses and only 3 percent have since registered vehicles in New Hampshire – a state with very little public transportation. This raises serious questions about whether many of the people who took advantage of same-day registration to vote were out-of-state residents voting improperly in the Granite State.’

      I never said Hillary organised it – and that has never been the issue.
      
      The issue is the DNC relies upon widespread voter fraud – even Obama has acknowledged it publicly in the past. The opposition to providing voter data is not about anything else other than preventing all the evidence coming out. Evidence (that because they refuse to release it at a local level) the DNC continually whines “Doesn’t exist”!
      
      Well if you don’t look for something then you can safely say it doesn’t exist!
      
      If there’s nothing to hide and all is well in DNC Camelot, then why refuse to release it?

        They know they’ll lose a lot of support through prevented voter fraud. There were plenty of reports during the recent election that Dems were busing people from out of state to vote in the next area’s polling stations.

  Just had a phone call from Newshub about partcipating to a new poll. Guess what? It only was for parcipaters between ages 35 and 54 years old. Sounding like they are seeking to sell us a rigged poll just as pollsters propigated in the the Hillary – Trump and the Brexit – Remianers election polls.       As much as I would like to see this as a positive, I can’t help but be suspicious. Two possibilities:
      
      1. They know the TV1 and Newshub polls are shonkey (eg, push-polling, excluding respondents on the grounds of age after asking them for about their voting intentions, instead of asking the age question first, etc), and that a Labour win is less likely than we are being told. As such, this is a limp attempt to retain a shred of credibility.
      
      2. Whale Oil has been going on about a king hit on National coming up any day now. Perhaps they have chosen a slow news day to ask an awkward question, knowing that it will not be answered before it is swamped by the bigger news story. Let’s see if HDPA and Jack-boi take the questions further.
      
      Then again, perhaps they have really looked beyond the lipstick and seen the sow.

    Everyone I know has voted early if voting strategically and voting ONE TICK BLUE!!!
    
    We’re voting for our local National Candidate for the electorate vote but on the party vote we’re hedging our bets and voting NZ First. If the unthinkable happens and Labour comes out on top, we need NZ First to act as a check the Socialist Reds.
    
    Ask yourself, when you look at the policies of NZ First and weigh them up against the ACTIONS of National over 9 long years, it is hard to argue that that there is any choice other than to hedge your bets

    Remove the ability to purchase a pre-paid English lesson voucher to bypass the minimum English entry requirements.
    
    MAORI AFFAIRS:
    Ensure that all policy-making is based on need and not on race, creed or colour.
    
    Ensure the future of the Maori seats is a decision for the people to make having examined the significant increase in representation numbers of Maori MPs under MMP.
    
    Direct resources to where they are of the greatest benefit. Rather than pour resources into separate development we should focus on providing high quality education for all our youth, on the basis of need.
    
    You know it, only NZ First make sense on the most important issues…..

      Even more importantly EAD – you have to take into account that a party vote for National is worth one third of a party vote for NZF.
      
      Last election:
      – National got one list seat per 59,500 party votes,
      – NZF (and hopefully Act this year will too) got approx one list seat per 19,000 party votes.
      
      If you want more seats for a centre right coalition – you shouldn’t party vote National!
      
      But all you ‘two ticks blue’ crowd, how do you feel that my one party vote is worth three of yours. How does that feel for truly disproportional representation??
      
      I’m still trying to work out whether to:
      – hold my nose and party vote NZF
      or
      – hold my nose and party vote Act
      
      Both make me sick, but both are better aligned to my centre right views than National are and I’ll be three times as effective at keeping Jacinda out as you ‘two ticks blue’ voters.
      
      MMP the voting system that brings us universally bad choices and guarantees electoral uncertainty – we’re going to get the government we deserve (for not voting to get rid of MMP).

    Actually there is nothing stopping anyone voluntarily paying more tax if they wish.
    You don’t need your hand held by labour to forcibly take your extra tax .
    If you want to pay more go to the nearest IRD office and say I want to donate some money to the country. You might even end up on TV as a “good sort”.

1: Unless there is only one son or daughter, one estate with multiple benefactors is the quickest way to destroy sibling relationships forever. One wants to stay, another wants to be bought out etc. Never leave your estate for the kids to fight over.

2: The vast majority of parents will be in a retirement village or home before they die anyway, the way things are headed with rates etc. Nobody stays with their elderly folks in NZ society except PIs and Maori who often have no other choice or they have enormous families themselves.

Perhaps most importantly –

3: I have yet to see this outrageous revelation in any media save this one modest outlet. On its own that is unbelievable. Couldn’t even find it on its host, Newstalk ZB!

      I was wealthy in 2000 – until I invested in a NZ startup Internet company, and changed houses because we’d concluded that our one was not worth fixing up.
      
      I was wealthy again in 2005 – before the first phase of house renovation started on the house we’d bought.
      
      Then I was wealthy again in 2007 – until the 2nd phase of house renovation started (NOTE: the reason for two phases was the Building Act and the Resource Management Act, and the two year delay resulted in an extra $100 stacks because of rising prices. Thanks Helen).
      
      I was planning to be wealthy again around mid-2018, but I guess we’ll just have to now wait on CGT, land tax, water tax, ……
      
      Funny thing about human lives; they’re so much more complicated than rigid class divisions and dialectical materialism.

Capital Gains Tax is neither here or fucking there apart from being a thorn in the side. The market will adjust and pass on a cost increase to the purchaser and this will further act to dry up supply and increase house prices. This will not bode well for the economy or the fluidity of money. But the Bimbo and her Tribe of Scrotes will justify anything to get their hands on more taxpayer’s money.

      Yes, some rates are for services, but some are flat-out tax for social engineering purposes.
      
      For example here in Chch there are rate-payer funded council houses. Not sure why we need those. Why isn’t this service being run by HNZ?

The sad thing about DPF’s posting yesterday of RNZ’s hit job on ‘Meet a NZ First supporter’ is the sheer duplicity of the article itself and the naivety of DPF’s response.

It is truly nonsense to make generalisations about the inherent goodness or badness of any political party’s supporters, and careful questioning and even more selective reporting can make even the most innocuous supporter come across as a rampant one-eyed xenophobic arsehole. My sibling’s family vote Labour out of habit and are the most racist NZers one could find. One could find National, ACT, and Labour supporters who would similar views to those expressed by the NZ First voters if one was of a mind. And the RNZ reporter was clearly ‘of a mind’ at the Rangiora NZ First meeting.

And it just so happened that one of them was an Amercian citizen who claimed to have voted for Trump. How convenient was that for the RNZ anti-Trump narrative- and how nicely it also tied in with DPF’s serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Remember when Helen dropped the big bribe in the dying days of Labour’s second to last administration?

I recall the jaws of the centre-right dropping as they knew such outrageous behaviour would not only continue the destruction of NZ Inc but also win her the election.

Now, National must do the same however unpalatable it may be. They must recreate the jaw-dropping but in reverse.

What would it be? What would make the Labour strategists go: ‘You f***ing c***s’ Whatever that is, do it.

Kiwis are fickle. They are shit house with money. They will go for whatever $ is dropped in front of them, but it has to be something they can use and spend straight away.

Do something Bill English. Do it now. Can I recommend a drop in the fuel excise, don’t underestimate how easily the electorate can be bought.

I grew up in Nelson, there was always rivalry in the daily paper, radio, with Marlborough wrt to annual sunshine hours, sometimes Marlborough got more than Nelson! The clear assumption being that these areas had similar weather.
I’ve recently been working in Renwick, comparisons with Siberia might be unkind to that country, icy southerly half the day icy northerly the other half.
Is there a forum where you can get the truth a region’s weather? I used to work in Invercargill in mid winter, and went home to Dunedin on weekends, contrary to possible perceptions, Invercargill was always warmer than Dunedin.

  That sort of thing has been going on for a long time, even without deliberately moving the stations.
  
  Many of the longest serving weather stations are at airports because they need temperature and pressure to calculate take-off weight etc, and pressure to determine altitude.
  
  But take a look at something like SFO in San Francisco. It started in the 1940s as a strip in a cow paddock and over the years has changed to being approx 3 square km of asphalt and concrete with air conditioners belting out hot air.
  
  Anyone that compares data from 20 years ago to what it is now is being very mischievous.

      The problem with any homogenization process is that you have to apply a “correction model”. That basically means you have to fully understand the system first.
      
      For an over simplified example, you might say: let’s correct SFO temperatures by taking off 5 degrees.
      
      Ok, so why did you choose 5 degrees and not 7 degrees or 2 degrees?
      
      The system is not well understood – certainly not enough to make accurate correction models, so eventually people end up applying the tweaks that give them the results they want.
      
      If you have a chance (and the skill to reading computer code) have a look at the models used by UEA. They have various tweak factors in that with no derivation based on physics. The derivations are based on what gives the “expected” (ie. desired) results.

  The same was done in Christchurch – the weather station was shifted from a central Hagley Park grass location to a large building in a heavily built up area in Riccarton, with a sheltered rail corridor and a huge heat sink effect on their boundary. Yes, the park location was being affected, but the Urban Heat Island effect in Kyle Street is very significant.

    Like the greening of the sahara desert….
    
    Plant leaves have pores (stomata) which must be opened up to allow CO2 in so the plants can eat.
    
    Unfortunately water is lost through open stomata by a process known as transiration.
    
    With lower CO2 levels the plants have to open up more stomata to allow in enough CO2, but that increases water loss.
    
    With higher CO2 levels the plants get by with less stomata open and therefore lose less water and can therefore can survive in areas with less water.
    
    That means better crop yields with less irrigation, but it also means the marginal areas around deserts are now supporting more plant life and are greening up.

I went to the opening function of our accounting firm’s new office this week. There were some very wealthy people there. The partner giving the speech said they were looking forward to the election. He said if National “win” then all the firm’s clients would continue to do well and the firm would be busy. If it’s Labour’s turn then they’re going to be flat out with all the tax planning.Either way they win.

The download (on every program on TVOne) kept eventually hanging and every time I restarted it, the Labour ad ran. Eventually, I gave up to watch videos instead. But the same thought crossed my mind – who is paying for the replays of the Labour ads – over and over and over again?

  I’m sure there is some sophisticated reason why it can’t be done, but what is this obsession with wanting to turn NZ into some nannying Police state rather than making manufacturers responsible?
  
  There was a discussion about personal responsibility for climate change which, at one point, was talking about non-biodegradable plastic bag use and whether the government should make laws against it for the individual (in the same way they have for mobile phone use) – to ‘give a signal’. How bizarre is that?
  
  Marama Fox at least said she aims to use non-biodegradable plastic bags. Winston, at least, mentioned that there is so much other plastic packaging that the bags are negligible.
  
  If government is going to make any laws, surely it needs to regulate the manufacture of plastic packaging to ensure it is all biodegradable – and worldwide. Why on earth would you push the responsibility onto individuals for using what is created and marketed to encourage them to do it?
  
  What’s even more ridiculous is none of the candidates, other than Winston, even hinted at the fact that ‘climate change’ and the environment being macro issues, they need to be dealt with on macro levels by the government, not by government sending the Police etc. after individuals – or encouraging individuals to harass and bully each other, which seems to have become the NZ ‘way’.

        I understand what you are saying; however, I regard inherited wealth as a double-edged tool. It has to be applied properly and managed prudently.
        
        If you inherit a house from your parents, you ought to pass that house on to your children. And if you have no children, then on to your niece or nephew.
        
        In Japan (especially in more conservative parts), the customs of inheritance are well defined. (The State takes a 40% cut.) Inheritance often passes down the male line of the family. If a man has no sons, he will legally adopt his son-in-law so that the family name may continue.

  Always good to have hardline Lefties admit this.
  
  One of the great things about the Internet/blogs/tweets etc, is how it’s outed the hardliners over the years. The common wisdom was that this would be bad for the Right because it would show what heartless bastards we were and turn people off.
  
  Turns out that the opposite has happened. Over the years I’ve rather enjoyed taking the occasional printout or screenshot of what has been said by the likes of Psycho, doggone7, ross001, ztev and marquees (and others going back in time), and showing it to people who were thinking of voting Labour-Green – to point out to them that this what the Left-base really think of those who have bought a second house to try and build a nest egg, or who’ve bitched about useless mongs they’ve hired for their little tradie businesses and so forth.
  
  Quite eye-opening for them. Don’t know for sure if it has swung votes, but it certainly has made people sit up and think.

    I really think I’m an OK bloke, so it’s not clear what you’re on about. Of course, when we eventually sell those properties and realise the capital gains on them, it will be entirely reasonable for a proportion of those gains to go to the society that enabled them – what kind of a person would I be if I wanted to leave wage and salary-earners with most of the costs of running the place?       You might want to look at the structures of our welfare system rather than those of the revenue gathering.
      
      But I’m guessing Green-Labour and you, won’t!
      
      BTW, somebody here the other day wrote of the UK garnering just 1% of tax revenue from CGT, and just 18% of that from property sales. So good luck with that!

English’s answer may provide comfort for homeowners enriched as a result of a failure to build enough homes to meet demand, but it offers none to a generation of people left renting from astronomically high house prices.

Hugh Pavletich, who describes himself as “somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan”, said: “There has already been a generation that’s been severely mistreated because of this housing issue, and what Mr English is saying is another generation should miss out. That is grossly irresponsible.”

Pavletich said prices must fall, gradually, until they are around three times median income.

English’s vision of prices staying level, but falling in real terms as wages rise, wouldn’t achieve that.

Auckland needed only look to Christchurch for its housing solution, Pavletich said. Spread out. Free up land supply. Let people build.

Pavletich does not believe National has the policies to keep prices flat as incomes rise.

“We will get to Sydney levels and beyond if we leave the current government in place,” said Pavletich.

When National came to office under John key the median house in Auckland cost 6.4 times median household income, he said. “It’s now a “stratospheric” ten times.”

National has announced a major plan to help get more Kiwis into their first home.

Prime Minister Bill English says the government will double the existing Home Start Grant to $20,000 for couples hoping to buy an existing home, and increase it from $20,000 to $30,000 for new-build homes.

English expects the measures will help 80,000 New Zealanders get into their first home over the next four years.

For those who want to consider subliminal messages, though – many years ago, an elderly friend complained to me that TV One presenters etc., coming up to an election, always wear red (at that time, Mark Sainsbury in particular).

At the time, I thought she was looking for problems and no-one would be that pathetic. But ever since, I can’t help noticing. Entertain yourself – with women it can be any clothing; with men it’s ties – how many are wearing red/pink, especially around political programming. Not to mention the backgrounds etc.

        You’re usually more of a rationalist than that. I could understand women voting to de-criminalise abortion because there’s the chance that it will be very directly relevant to them at some point. People who vote based on wanting it criminalised, on the other hand… well, for the men it’s never going to be relevant, and even the women aren’t voting on the basis it might be relevant to them at some point, it’s all about imposing your moral views on others. That’s just a waste of your vote and deserves ridicule.

        I don’t think that’s relevant. The number of abortions will be affected by things like availability of contraception and useful sex education, level of religious influence on society etc, not whether or not abortion is in the Crimes Act. This is more about how easy is it to get one and are you a criminal for getting one. If we were to have exactly the same number of abortions but they were much easier to get and no-one got to call the people involved criminals, I’d look on that as a major positive effect of Ardern’s proposal.

He was expecting Labout to win and not at all happy about this as again they will be the meat in the sandwich for protests. This time it will be your average citizens and not radical lefties. He estimated that 90% of Police supported National.

There is a genuine concern that Labours soft approach to law & order will result in a surge in crime. This soft approach also extends to corrections as Labour do not believe in imprisonment.

The drunks go on to hit 19 bars. Finally, the second drunk says, “We’ve got to switch places ’cause my knees hurt from dropping to the floor.”

The first drunk says, “You think that’s bad? I lost the hot dog in the third bar!”

DPF – a question about Labour’s CGT thinking.
We are told that a CGT would apply to every property other than the family home. Has there been mention of the GCT applying to New Zealand and Australian shares which arn’t subject to the current CGT if the shareholder is an investor but not a trader? If based on Labour’s current public statements, the CGT could include shares, then everyone in Kiwisaver would be taxed. National should call this out loud and clear.
I have deliberately mentioned New Zealand and Australian shares, because all shares from other countries are already subject to CGT each year.

A Labour-led Government would ban foreign purchases of New Zealand property “by Christmas”, leader Jacinda Ardern told her supporters at a rally in Wellington this afternoon.

Speaking to audience of around 1500 people at the St James theatre, Ardern outlined her plans for her first 100 days if she becomes prime minister on September 23.

Ardern said that within 100 days, Labour would make tertiary education free (for the first three years) and lift allowances and living costs by $50 a week – likely to come into force on January 1.

  The way I read it they weren’t going to be permitted to buy “spec” property. That said I see little reason why they shouldn’t be forced to build rather than buy even for their own occupancy.
  
  Aussie has a similar requirement & it hasn’t put a handbrake on immigration.

China is going to set a deadline ending the sale of cars powered by petrol or diesel.

New surges are going to change electricity demand. Our southern lakes don’t have huge storage capability either. I hear the big Clyde dam has water only for days rather than weeks.

Its time NZ started harnessing its reserves of coal-seam gas and offshore natural gas. We’re going to need thermal-generated power to top up supplies when the southern lakes are low and the sun hits home solar units.

  We’ve been running balance of payments deficits for 40 years or so, and can’t afford scrapping this contribution from, in effect, exporting electricity. That’s the choice: export the electricity or burn it in the homes of import-guzzling Auckland.
