Gym memberships still going cheap

November 1st, 2012 at 2:00 pm by David Farrar

The FitnessNZ promotion of subsidised gym memberships is still going.  If you are not currently a member, just go to their website and you can get discounts of normally 40% to 70% off – but for Kiwiblog readers an extra 10% if you enter the code”Kiwiblog” in the discount field.

You can now get a 3 month membership at Les Mills Auckland for $306 instead of $767. In Wellington Cityfitness Thorndon is going for $224 instead of $448.

All subsidised 100% by the private sector with no government funding.

Up to 80% off gym memberships

The Fitness NZ gym promo is back.

There are over half a million dollars of gym memberships available at between 40-70% subsidy, at around 100 facilities around NZ.  It’s first in first served.

Kiwiblog readers can get an additional 10% discount if you put in the special code “kiwiblog” so it’s in effect a 50-80% discount for Kiwiblog readers.

For example a 12 month membership at Cityfitness Thorndon is normally $1,305. Kiwiblog readers can get this for just $587, saving $718.

A reminder it’s for first time gym users only (or those that haven’t been a member in the last 12 months).

No taxpayer money is used with this initiative. It is 100% private sector funded. A far better way to keep or stay fit than nanny state measures.

An anti-obesity promotion that does not involve the food police

Once again FitnessNZ has their annual gym membership promotion. Details are:

  • 40 to 70% off for 1st time gym members, or someone who hasn’t been a member for 12 months (can buy for a friend, but check that they aren’t a current member 1st!)
  • 100+ gyms nationwide
  • 3, 6 and 12 month memberships avail at most gyms
  • limited # of subsidised membership at each facility, and some sell out fast
  • No government money involved. 🙂

And even better, Kiwiblog readers can obtain a further 10% discount on your membership if you use the special code “Blog57″ (without the quotes). This means you will be getting 50% to 80% off effectively.

So if you have been wanting to join a gym, this is a good time.

Half Price Gym Memberships

August 24th, 2009 at 12:00 pm by David Farrar

FitnessNZ has its normal annual half price gym memberships promotion. These are for people who are not current gym members who want to join.

The number of places is limited. There seem to be around 700 places left, and you can click down by region to see the number of places per gym. For example 177 places left in Wellington, and nine of them for Bodyworks Thorndon.

Much better for obesity prevention than banning certain foods and adverts etc. And best fo all entirely private sector funded.

50% off gym memberships

July 27th, 2008 at 1:00 pm by David Farrar

The annual FitnessNZ 50% of gym membership promotion for new members starts tomorrow, and Kiwiblog readers are getting an exclusive early opportunity to take advantage of it, as the site is now active.

The rules are that it is open for anyone who is not a current member of a gym, nor has been a member in the last 12 months (nor has take up the promotion in 2006 or 2007). You can buy a membership for someone else provided they qualify (even if you do not).

Gym memberships are often $1,000 a year, so this can save $500 or so. A great opportunity to finally take out the membership you have been thinking of.

I’m not getting paid to promote this. As not one cent  of SPARC (ie taxpayer) money is being spent on the promotion, I’m happy to support it as a private sector public health initiative.
