Hello all and welcome to Wednesday Wallpaper for 22 August.

This week we head up the road from our home to Wedderburn for some snowy ovine action.  We have seen precious little snow around Central Otago this winter, so I presume that will translate to never ending rain during barbecue season - or  biblical grade droughts.

Speaking of the bible, there is one Hell of a ‘discussion’ flaring up on today’s General Debate  on the topic of  creationism in schools….too heated for this artistically inclined fruitcake.

Back into some classic South Island scenery this week, the oft-photographed Blue Lake in St Bathans.  This image was made using the very last of the sun’s rays while leading a private workshop.  I will be visiting here again this weekend as part of our final winter landscape photography workshop – can’t wait!

A little respite from South Island scenery this week, this image was made from the Pouakai Ridge on the Northern flank of Mt Taranaki.  Sarah & I hiked up in the dark on the previous evening – fortunately the sun broke through, as it would have been a lot of effort for a photo of fog & mist shrouded tusssocks….

Sunset Reflection From Lake Matheson, Westland New Zealand

Welcome to the Wednesday Wallpaper – your midweek, scenic seque towards Chthoniid‘s wonderful Friday Photo.

Each week Sarah or I will be sharing an image from our New Zealand photography portfolio.  Each photo will be available for free download as a high resolution (2048px) wallpaper image – suitable for the new iPad or your PC desktop.

First up is Lake Matheson at sunset, truly one of New Zealand’s most stunning vistas.  This image was made from Reflection Island on the Matheson walkway on a summer’s evening.  The afternoon breeze dropped off, as it often does, right on sunset revealing this mirror reflection of the Southern Alps.
