750 at a public meeting

I just noted at the bottom of this Dom Post article that John Key had 750 people attend a public meeting in Pukekohe last night. That’s a huge number of people.

Pukekohe is not a wealthy area – the median family income is $60,800, marginally above the NZ average of $59,000. And on the Degree of Deprivation scale from Wellington School of Medicine, they are around a 7 – with 1 being least deprived and 10 most deprived.

So getting 750 people anywhere is rare – but in Pukekohe is quite extraordinary.
