Now Chile has done likewise, just 5 weeks from the opening.

Think of all the logistics issue with the pre-ordered champagne and lobster. Think of all the private charter jet leases, and flight planning. Think about the 5-star hotels with empty rooms now.

Most of all, think about how your money pays for all this.

About requiring gang members to show how they paid for assets –

In 2016 MSD produced an analysis of welfare paid to gang members in 2013/2014 (2 years). Estimated average per person $132,000 – more than half a billion dollars over that period. Not sure if these numbers have been updated, but likely to be a lot more now.

And in the report an example of data sharing –

“Of the total 3,960 known gang members, 27 percent (1,056) were recorded by Child, Youth and Family as being the alleged perpetrators of substantiated abuse or neglect of children (noting limitations around the completeness of historical data).”

  Along this vein, is there something inherently “askew” with a small minority of NZers.
  We hear of crime stats, child abuse, welfare dependency, not immunising kids, high bullying rates etc and i honestly start to wonder are the people who appear in these statistics more often than not the same %?
  Are there, say 2% of the population (100,000 people) who are leading the charge in all these horrible stats?
  If we eliminated these 100k misfits would the state pay less welfare, our hospitals be less over burdened, our police and courts less busy?

      Scare quotes aside, it is not difficult mikey. If you change incentives you can incentivise positive choices and change behaviour. Removing welfare from gang members removes an incentive for negative behaviour so is part of the process. Simple really.

Why is what is happening in America relevant to NZ? Why should we care about Pres Trump and his agenda?

America is on the up. It’s economy is booming, unemployment is at a 50 year low and manufacturing is on the increase. America is now energy independent. On the social front the rise of political correctness has been stopped. Pro life legislation is being enacted in some states to protect the unborn child. America is not introducing euthanasia, the government is not pushing homosexuality and transgender issues.
In world affairs America is building up a strong military for defence while bringing their soldiers home and trying to end needless foreign entanglements.

In NZ it’s the exact opposite. Our government and our media are in the thrall of political correctness. The socialists in charge continue to attack the family unit with euthanasia for the elderly and abortion right up to the point of birth for the unborn child. Socialists don’t like the family because strong families are outside of their control.
Economically we have centralised planning and funding. None of the government projects have succeeded including their flagship programme Kiwibuild, which has all but been abandoned.
Business confidence is down and unemployment appears to be a continuing concern. Oil and gas exploration has been stopped by government fiat.
Socially, political correctness rules, and we are taught to be ashamed of our past as racist and white men are to blame for everything especially sexism. The treaty of waitangi grievances will not be settled in our lifetime.

Our government has no plans for national greatness. Instead we are on course for economic decline. The American president wants his country to be great again. Our prime minister dreams of the democratic socialist Republic of aotearoa.

That’s why America matters to us. We are on precisely the wrong course in every area of our national life. National greatness is possible but not with this government aided and abetted by our mainstream media.

  Last night I watched a great doco “Margaret Thatcher – Death of a Revolutionary”. Before Margaret took power reminds me so much of the here and now in NZ. Well worth a look if you have and hour or so to spare. She was a marvelous woman.

I am interested to read that a large percentage of Kiwisaver participants want their funds to be invested in safe and green companies.
Surely that is short sighted as you would expect that their rich fund managers would suggest that they be allowed to get the highest return possible without “social political’ interference.
This over time would seriously diminish the returns to the saver owners without them really having any idea.
The fund managers win every time of course as they still get their cut all the time irrespective of the return to the savers who really do not have a clue as to how their money is being spent on their behalf.

  It comes down to how the questions were phrased.
  
  If everything else was equal they would rather invest in green companies than arms manufacturers.
  
  But the thing is that there are not many “safe and green” companies. You cannot have your cake and eat it. Most virtue signalling green companies are poorly run and have poor returns because they are run by numpties.
  
  The real question they should ask is this: how much are you prepared to give away to have a “green investment”?

    You can hear Jackson at the link below talking about what he sees as the difference between Western law, specifically English law, and Maori customs and rules.
    
    He says rape, in English law was originally a property offence (of the women’s owner) whereas for Maori it was punishable by death.
    
    No mention, of course, of Maori slavery, including of women, and cannabilism of slaves, or facts like women not being able to speak at marae. Were there Maori women chiefs?
    
    The interviewer shows his partiality by asking what Jackson sees as the differences between “imposed colonial law” and “Maori law”.
    
    Wikipedia says Jackson specialises in Waitangi Treaty and constitutional issues. He lectures at the Otaki wanga (Maori tertiary instituion) as part of its Maori philosophy and laws course.
    
    Jackson’s brother, Syd, was a prominent Maori activist and trade unionist. The brothers’ nephew is Wily Willie Jackson, the Labour list MP who, in the term of the last National Government, pulled off the coup that gave Maori control of Radio NZ.

Not a good look and a travesty of justice and fair play.Here we have our Ombudsman Peter Boshier from an office once known as the epitome of neutrality,found wanting in a report regarding an alleged threatening letter to the Wellington City Council regarding road funding.
Yes it was a letter from a woman representing the far left lunatic Green Party .Allegations say that Julie Ann Genter threatened huge ramifications for NZs if the Wellington City Council didnt back down on wanting a second tunnel for Wellington to ease traffic gridlock.
Boshier decided not to release the whole threatening letter ,what a bloody disgrace. Who do us as NZs now turn to when we want a fair hearing and some justice from our once so called neutral office of the Ombudsman. Obviously not Peter Boshier as his latest censorship of the letter from Julie Ann Genter for the far left lunatic Green Party.Is not a good look,what is being hidden ,and why.

  This is the same neutral Ombudsman who ruled against the release of the agreement between Labour and NZ First.
  
  When National and allies have a majority in Parliament are they going to seek the resignation of the office holder in the position of Chief Ombudsman. Because instead of being neutral, Boshier has shown himself to be very partisan!

    Quite a sweeping statement based on 2 decisions with which you clearly disagree for political reasons . I have not read the decision but did look at the issue when it first arose and took the view that this outcome was more likely than not – i.e. it was correspondence or documentation that should be withheld to ensure free and frank discussion.
    
    Perhaps you could elaborate on your view of partisanship and explain, just where did the ombudsman err in his interpretation and application of the legislation?
    
    What he has done is order the release of some of the information based on waiver of confidentiality. That is quite enough to show that the Associate Minister is a belligerent table thumper and is prone to throwing toys out of cots.

  It is actually quite a strong decision against Genter. She and Twyford have been forced to release the substance of the letter, and she has been critcised by the ombudsman for creating confusion about whether she wrote the letter as a minster or as a Greens spokesperson.

An Associate Minister only because Winston “not in it for the baubles of office” Peters gave the fingers to the entire country by going with a coalition which he knew would be dependent on the very Greens he claimed he would never work with. Julie Anne Genter, apparently an expert on Wellington transport issues, lives in Auckland. Her engagement with Wellington transport is minimal. Takes it upon herself to demand public transport options ahead of improvements to road traffic, despite there being no business case yet established for any public transport options. Considers walking and cycling projects are more important than fixing the gridlock that occurs every day around (for example) Evans Bay, the Mount Victoria tunnel, the Basin Reserve, the laughable “inner city bypass”, the Terrace tunnel, the SH 1 interchange….. and countless other choke points. Clearly Ms Julie Anne Genter gives less than two hoots for the Wellington taxpayers who get caught up in this mess nearly every day, and will have very little personal experience of them, yet demands that her narrow view of the issues be the one, and only, answer to them. Takes it upon herself to write to her more senior Minister of Transport, confused about in what capacity she is doing so, and then until forced to do otherwise refuses to say what she said and why. If that’s not telling Wellington taxpayers they can go and get stuffed I don’t know what is. When forced to reveal the nature of what she did say she carefully avoids any mention of the coercion and threats that the Opposition spokesperson clearly has evidence of. Did she or did she not threaten to bring down the Coalition? We may never know, but what we do know is that this Associate Minister has the extreme arrogance to tell Wellingtonians that her demands – those of an Aucklander with no skin in the game and an ideologically driven zealot – are the only answers to Wellington’s transport problems they are going to get, and then to double down by attempting by all means possible to avoid accountability for them.

    The Ombudsman role is a judicial one so they will be well vetted. I have had matters before them and they have been professional throughout.
    We are more likely to be partisan as them. We tend to oppose–they have a duty to examine and see that law is maintained, not what we would like.

  I’m not so sure it is that simple. I know they are still under an FPP system, so it makes it hard to break the stranglehold of the moribund long established parties (aka Tories and Labour) but this situation is totally unprecedented: democracy itself is on the line here.
  
  Make no mistake, many many working class typically Labour supporters, particularly up North, want out of the EU. Corbyn and Labour clearly do not want this to occur, as they are pro-EU – Big Government as exemplified by the EU is their aphrodisiac. These areas are now heavily populated with Islamic economic migrants, and the demographics are unrecognisable as against 30 or 40 years ago. They want the mass influx to cease, and to regain their national sovereignty.
  
  It is not just these areas either – mostly only London and the other big Metro areas are Remainers. They are totally out of touch with the simmering reality in rest of the UK.
  
  Despite the Trump-style character assassination that Farage is subjected to (because he is feared by the Establishment), he is a very astute politician, with the added extra of being successful outside of politics, and wants to rein in the Federal European madness, so beloved of the ‘elites’. Don’t underestimate the Brexit Party.
  
  In general, the Tories don’t want to conserve anything, and we know that Labour hate themselves and the UK in general. I hope they are both wiped out.

    As I’ve said before, how you account for the various sinks and sources of “carbon” will change what “answers” you get.
    
    And we still basically use the accounting mechanisms established at Kyoto where the intent wasn’t to actually attempt to factually and scientifically actually measure emissions but to establish politically convenient results. So using those as a guide we are more than likely taking a series of actions that will actually increase real emissions while sort of reducing “nominal” emissions in politically correct ways.
    
    We should also note that NZ’s CH4 emissions are utterly insignificant on a world scale and always will be. Making significant efforts to reduce it is a complete waste of money and time. A true accounting would note that grass not eaten by a ruminant eventually dies and decays producing CH4 – and that the growing of grass consumes “carbon” as well. Grazing certainly promotes growth so both absorption and emissions are increased by grazing, but that affect is entirely ignored at present.
    
    False accounting = fake results.

I just got notice Fletcher Building of their AGM in Ak on the morning of 28 Nov. Are there any other shareholders on KB? I will be going and possibly making a remit asking the company to demand from the government weekly or monthly payments of interest on the money that is tied up on the land in South Ak till the matter is settled.

I will also ask that the interest be backdated to when Cindy interfered and stopped the police from doing their job.

It says that family a full of it. While Ministry haven’t uplifted child since, I believe this is because of the Hawthorne effect. The Hawthorne effect refers to a phenomenon whereby individuals improve or modify an aspect of their behavior in response to their awareness of being observed. In this case all parties (midwifes and local community etc) have put in extra effort with this particular situation, to try to prove the Ministry was wrong.
If questioned, they could be called out on this, and previous behaviour leading to initial order, so criticise inquiry to draw attention from themselves.

Some Samoan families may have had a recent visitor and one of the family subsequently sick. That establishes a likelihood but no proof.

  Epstein wasn’t a real financier, there was no-one of any note who had done any deals with him, which is unheard of for a ‘self made’ person as rich as Epstein (he started out career as a tutor FFS). He was obviously an actor – a front man for some intelligence agency honey-pot compromat factory that blackmailed powerful to make them compliant. Mossad most likely (likely with CIA assent) given close ties with Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of a prominent Mossad asset and media mogul Robert Maxwell. He was safe in life because he was just a front man – and his targets knew that. But his employer/s and targets needed him dead once his arrest became too public to cover for and potential for embarrassment grew too great.     There are some disconcerting features of Epstein’s death though. It does deserve a very thorough investigation. We already know that the management of the facility were grossly negligent and that the guards who are supposed to check every inmate a (I think) hourly intervals (more frequent if on suicide watch) did not do so and falsified the records saying that they had. The cameras that at least cover the corridors (which would presumably catch anyone entering Epstein’s cell to kill him) were not working only on that specific night – which is exceptionally suspicious IMHO.
    
    The injuries to Epstein’s throat are also very suspicious as the sheets used in that place are designed to tear and rip very easily to make them hard to use for suicide, so Epstein can’t easily have used enough force to have broken his hyoid bone without causing the noose to break.
    
    Could be a cover up for murder, maybe it was suicide, hard to tell without better sources of information.

So this doctor with a race-based role, is effectively accusing other doctors of taking longer to give pain medication to some patients based on ethnicities? That is exactly what his comments mean. He is a disgrace to doctors.

A powhiri before getting into ER perhaps? This is EMERGENCY department. I don’t want medical staff wasting time filling out bullshit data, but rather dealing with my EMERGENCY medical issues.

Just saw the TVNZ headline Bridges indicates he would suspend benefits to beneficiaries who do not vaccinate their children.

Really? n terms of statistical likelihood of doing harm, this is what his focus is on?

Well that’s one vote fewer for Bridges, right here. Perhaps he could start with denying benefits to the obese, those with diabetes, and of course those who smoke, take drugs or drink too much…

… and see how many populist votes that might win him.

What a f**k-wit idea.

    White crackpots who don’t believe in vaccination probably already vote Green.
    
    Third Worlders who come to NZ for the Western life style need to be dragooned into vaccination if they have some superstition about it. Otherwise they should go home.
    
    It’s reassuring to see that Bridges has a backbone.

      It is stupid to think that people on a benefit only vote labour or greens. Oh and I doubt this will even become a policy it is just an idea that was thrown out there, it will be gone by election time.
