A Primer for the Propagandized – Fear is the Mind-Killer

The recipe is simple. Take a naturally occurring phenomenon, say a seasonal virus, and exaggerate its threat far beyond every imagining—despite exhaustive evidence to the contrary. Suppress, silence, ostracize, and demonize every individual who dares present facts that expose the false mono-narrative.

Whip up a witches’ brew of anger, envy, and, most importantly, fear, escalating emotions to a boil so as to short-circuit our faculties of reason and logic.

Isolate us from one another, supplant real-world interactions with virtual feuds, label nonconformists as a threat to the group, and pump the public with a disinformation campaign designed to confuse and atomize. In essence, foster a cultlike mentality that shuts down thought to guarantee assent.

Cultivate and wield our cognitive biases—especially ingroup bias, conformity bias, and authority bias—against us in a comprehensive divide-and-conquer policy that keeps us too busy squabbling amongst each other to recognize and unite against those corralling us into a Matrix-like collective delusion that enables the powerful to extract our resources for their own gain.

What I am beginning to detect is an increasing willingness for people to speak out against the creeping totalitarian nightmare. Too many of us, and include myself in that assessment, have been happy to turn a blind eye. I can’t any longer. ‘The Biden administration notified Congress this week that it will send millions of dollars in U.S. assistance to the Palestinians aimed at promoting peace with Israel even as violence between the two sides rages.

As the conflict intensifies despite U.S. calls for restraint, the administration notified Congress on Thursday that it will provide $10 million to Palestinian groups in the West Bank and Gaza to support exchange and reconciliation projects with Israelis. The recipients of the aid were not named.

The State Department said Friday that the money is part of more than $100 million that the administration allocated to the Palestinians earlier this year, reversing a near total cutoff in support under former President Donald Trump.

In a notice to lawmakers obtained by The Associated Press, the U.S. Agency for International Development said the $10 million would go to support “people-to-people efforts to bring together conflict-affected groups to address divisions that may be rooted in group differences such as ethnicity, religion, status, class, or political affiliation in areas affected by conflict and civil war.”

It said the money would be spent mainly on cross-border projects between Israel and the West Bank and Gaza, but might also include programs for Jews and Arabs living in Israel’.

    They listened to such arguments and gave back the Gaza Strip, including using their police and army to forcibly remove Jewish settlers from their properties of house, greenhouses and so forth.
    
    Land for Peace, etc, etc.
    
    In the wake of what has happened with Gaza since then, few Israeli’s believe that theory any longer.

    It is partly fear per se, but strong intention and confidence also leads to obedience, whether the motive be for the forces of good, or forces of evil. Confidence tricks are aptly named for a reason. People with weak minds believe what they are being told, because their confidence has been plausibly gained, from someone who “appears to know” what they are talking about.

      Sadly I have many overseas contacts and they all think our Cindy is the answer to the World’s problems.
      I shocked one in the UK by saying that after almost 60 years living in New Zealand, I am saddened and feel ashamed to be a New Zealander currently.
      As I am in the terminal section of my life I am disappointed and sad for our Children and Grandchildren, whom have great top University degrees, top jobs some in the Public Service but now appear to have been what I called Cindy brainwashed.

  I wonder if this is to distract from the systematic ballot fraud that is being uncovered in Arizona? They are finding double-digit discrepancies in some of the batches they have audited. For instance, finding only 165 votes in a batch that was logged as having 200. That’s a 17.5% discrepancy that cannot be accounted for. Panic is setting in and it’s a beautiful thing.

    Also does appear that the entire set of databases containing all the 2020 election data was deliberately deleted just one week before the servers were delivered to the audit team.
    
    Doesn’t matter which side of politics you are on, surely that must be an absolute declaration of guilt and an explicit acknowledgement that there is/was something to find that should not have occurred.
    
    Similarly the passwords to achieve admin level access have been explicitly denied to the Senate and Audit team.
    
    In forensic IT, this is a huge “Tell”, and it means guilty but trying very hard not to be exposed. If you are and have been honest, there is never any problem in supplying passwords and preserving data. Speaking here as one who has had some involvement in the field.

  MCos, there’s always a few of these, there were several people arrested for minor vote fraud in Texas (Democrats in those cases); none of which are really notable. Small scale fraud has always happened and it cuts both ways. Except in the rarest of circumstances it makes zero difference.
  
  What is concerning is fraud on a scale to make a difference. Like the case of Michigan where around 400,000 votes were illegally (as ruled by a judge well after the election) counted on the insistence of the (Democrat) Secretary of State. Those votes arrived after the deadline and either had postmarks after the votes had closed or had no postmarks at all and arrived late. Those votes went something like 75% for Biden, so a 200,000 swing, the margin was well below that.

    Each of departments cited are small with less than 100 people. They are more like executive management organisations than traditional government departments. For instance in MOD around half are managing and organising purchase contracts such as the $2.3 billion P8 contract.

        The sovereignty of Parliament gives them the sole right to tax. I’m not a constitutional lawyer but I have been a tax specialist and implemented international tax systems.
        
        It’s an interesting matter you raised because it implies that the Treasury and Auditor must be defacto agencies of Parliament, not just merely helpers of the govt of the day.
        
        Govt has devolved on Cabinet by them being sworn in as HM’s Executive Councillors. No MP takes any oath of duty as an MP of New Zealand.
        They have no formal duty of care. To some its just tax, grab and spend to further their power.
        The ability of the Ardern govt to solely command a majority is severely unfortunate. It is giving Ardern ideas above her paygrade; ideas that cost King Charles I his head.

  I looked up the Social Wellbeing Agency online. It has been going for over a year. It seems to have three staff. These are an Acting CEO, a Director of Organisation Performance, and a Director Office of CEO.
  Seems to be a think tank, with a boss, HR assistant and an office manager.

Another day, another broken promise from our illustrious government:

The Government has failed to meet a deadline it set itself to give local councils more control when dealing with forestry conversions.

Last year the Labour Party made a pre-election promise that it would give local councils the power to determine what classes of land could be used for forestry in the first six months of its term.

This was in response to concerns from some rural communities that too much productive land was being lost to forestry.

Last week a public meeting was held in North Otago, where the community is outraged at plans that will see a large sheep and beef farm at the head of the Kakanui River converted into a permanent carbon forest.

They say it is a special environment that needs to be protected. But the company that has bought the farm, New Zealand Carbon Farming, said its forests provide a rich habitat for the county’s unique native flora and fauna.

Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher said there was not a lot the council could do apart from lobbying the Government to change policy.

“I think they need to bring in some rules around protecting special areas and being able to have a national environment standard that says where carbon forestry can and can’t happen.”

Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor admitted these reforms had not happened yet.

“Look, it probably is a bit slower than it should be, but we are going to keep moving forward and, I guess, in the meantime it is a discussion local communities should have.

“I think if New Zealand Carbon Farming pick up the vibes, then maybe they should reconsider but it’s not for me to make a judgment on their business decisions,” he said.

The Government was still committed to the review but there was no timeframe for when it would be complete, O’Connor said.

The issue of productive pastoral land being purchased and converted to forestry is a very real concern for rural New Zealand. The rising price of carbon makes forestry an attractive option for overseas investors. Changes to the Overseas Investment Act in 2018 to stop foreigners buying up New Zealand land left a loophole that allows overseas investors to buy land if they plant it in trees.

We know how Grant Robertson and Jacinda Ardern feel about loopholes; look at the speed with which they legislated to close the “loophole” which allowed investors to claim interest payments as an expense!

Once again, the Labour government has over-promised and underdelivered. What was promised here is relatively small in terms of the work required to achieve it, and if there was no serious intention to implement the change, O’Connor and his mates shouldn’t have made the commitment. Unkept promises are becoming the hallmark of this government.

    If we put a million hectares of productive pastoral hill country farmland into permanent trees under the ETS, we are going to lose $1.25 billion p.a. of net future export receipts as a result [source NZ Beef and Lamb economic service]. These are export earnings the country can ill afford to lose, particularly with the current shutdown of New Zealand’s other big export earners, the Tourism sector (which is going to be totally shut down for the foreseeable future) and the International Education sector, detrimentally impacted long term as a result of COVID-19.
    
    Planting of pine is fine, but it has to be the right place. Marginal hill country is fine for pine plantations; productive pastoral farms are not.

      I know of a little NZ valley consisting of some of the hardest hill country in NZ where there is the quite amazing spectacle of forestry being planted in large areas and a pathetic attempt at removing previously planted wilding pines all at the same time.
      Oh and both mostly funded from the same source.

  Schools provide lunches because some children otherwise go hungry. Answer: hold off the food until children are hungry enough to eat anything – genius!
  I’d have though a survey to find out precisely why school lunches are rejected, might have been a better solution – too obvious I guess.

  My grandkids take a nice, healthy lunch to school and kindy, lovingly prepared by their hardworking parents.
  So, the government decrees these kids are not allowed to eat their food until others in their class have had a government controlled and monitored lunch.
  There is one word for this dictatorship and that is communism.

    I must have gone to really progressive primay & secondary schools in the 60’s as school lunches were avaiable every day. Put your order in at morning play time, pay your 6p or shilling if you were really hungry, and piping hot fish and carbs turned up at midday. Real treat when I was allowed to get a “school lunch”. ?

  I heard a few minutes of Marcus Lush singing the praises of the advantage of free school lunches.
  He apparently hates making his kids lunches, that they don’t eat what he provides and bring the remnants home for him to dispose of. And did I mention that he likes the ‘free’ aspect?
  He thinks that it’s good that everyone has the same lunch so that the have-nots do not feel discriminated against.
  He was insulting/rude to listeners who phoned in to disagree with him, and I turned off .
  I think being on the Invercargill Council has gone to his head, it’s letting in hot air,

  This isn’t leadership – it is the infantilisation of the population. At times I think all Labour wishes is for everyone to become dependent on them and Labour MPs can then fully assume the role they’ve always wanted – that of being in total control of the lives of all New Zealanders.
  
  And for those who think I’m wrong – point me to any, ANY, times over since late-2017 where any, ANY, Labour MP has something along the lines of “Oh for goodness sake, people need to grow up and take care of these matters themselves – this is nothing to do with the government and we refuse to become involved….”

    What I really don’t like about this is the punitive nature of the demand:
    So my 7 year old gets out his home made food stored in the politically correct container (no plastic wrap etc) at lunchtime.
    He’s feeling hungry.
    But just as he gets out the sandwich someone at home has made for him, along comes a teacher or some other person in authority , who tells him, No, you cannot eat your food yet.
    You must wait at least 10 minutes until the other children have had theirs. You might be hungrier by then.
    That is just plain wrong, and if that happened to my kid I would be down at the school quick smart to complain about inequality of access to food for my child.
    This is a ridiculous idea.
    Ms Ardern: when your child goes to school, and presumably with a lunch provided by someone in your household, are you seriously going to tell her she may not eat it because others have to have their “special” lunch before her?
    Doesn’t matter if she is hungry yet or not?
    Don’t think so.

      Many kids would eat their lunches at morning break/playtime. Fruit at lunchtime. Then when they got home after school they would have another ‘lunch’ which kept them going until dinner.
      This sort of arrangement kept their blood sugars and energy levels up for the whole day.
      Child-rearing made easier.

  Though come to think of it, since I understand many children come to school hungry, this would mean having lunch at 9am, when most children with a home-packed lunch will still be full from breakfast.

  8. In moving to support the Declaration, New Zealand both affirms those rights and reaffirms the legal and constitutional frameworks that underpin New Zealand’s legal system. Those existing frameworks, while they will continue to evolve in accordance with New Zealand’s domestic circumstances, define the bounds of New Zealand’s engagement with the aspirational elements of the Declaration.
  
  Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples, in addressing the UN, finished with – New Zealand’s support for the Declaration represents an opportunity to acknowledge and restate the special cultural and historical position of Māori as the original inhabitants – the tangata whenua – of New Zealand. It reflects our continuing endeavours to work together to find solutions and underlines the importance of the relationship between Māori and the Crown under the Treaty of Waitangi. [1]
  
  So the Declaration has been “defused” (or dumped on) by Helen Clark, John Key and Pita Shaples, and given only a lukewarm reception by Ardern.
  
  Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the reason for not publicly releasing it was because it wasn’t government policy, hadn’t been considered by Cabinet, and she didn’t want its release to suggest to people it was being implemented in full. [2]
  
  While the new Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson says he’s read it in its entirety, Treaty Negotiations Minister Andrew Little says he hasn’t read it at all – ruling out Collins’ suggestion He Puapua had “inspired’’ his announcement of a Māori Health Authority.
  
  The question is: Who is actually driving it now – probably Willie Jackson is one.
  What may unhinge it is any Declaration move that actually breaches the Treaty.

I shouldn’t go on NewsHub I really shouldn’t. It’s too fucking depressing seeing some article about a Liberal elitist google the pay of the top public service execs and say their salary should be given away. When I live in a part of the world where CEO’s wouldn’t be in that pay band. Its not uncommon to be on seven figures which I say to illustrate how NZ needs to be competitive in a global market. In fact it shouldn’t an aspiration to solely work for a salary. You stay poor focusing on salary. It’s the options part of the package that’s important. You are rewarded for wealth creation. You can be happily unemployed concentrating on wealth creation. Oh and I was talking to a CEO yesterday and he said, “Oh didn’t your Prime Minister do well….” I informed him of her job qualifications and he was most surprised.

The Israeli military apparently used a brilliant deceptive maneuver to take out Hamas’s terrorist fighting force and underground tunnels — in a single blow.
In what could only be described as killing two birds with one stone, the Israel Defense Forces on Thursday night told news reporters that the Israeli ground forces were on their way to Hamas-held Gaza.

So what effect does that have on the state control argument – do as we say or else.
Should it be enough to be fully updated on the latest facts about the virus and, apart from action on specific flash points, leave it to individual behaviour.
Was there/is there any need, other than for specifying distances, to control outdoor activity.

  Maori are still tribal and there is NO Maori nation per se. The tribes each arrived separately from different places of origin making them natural enemies in the normal context. The Kingi movement was attempt to set up a King with the status of Victoria but that did not get the tribal support desired and is now just a Waikato relic occupied by a former truck driver. It was a self proclaimed style and title.
  
  I could be the National Dog Leg Straightening Authority but it’ meaningless without power. Activists only have fists and noise not power or rights.

Reporting that Chynaa has ‘verbally’ told some of it’s LNG Importers to avoid ordering any further LNG cargoes from Australia.
It’s worth about $15B annually to Oz.

Can anyone tell us whether the “National Maori Authority” is an official State organisation?

It features in a Herald report today in which the “National Maori Authority” chairman, Matthew Tukaki, calls for a brewery “to be hauled before the Human Rights Commission” over “racist comments”.

A quick online search of NZ legislation didn’t throw up any reference to “National Maori Authority”.

The Charities Registry has an entry for “Nga Ngaru Rautahi o Aotearoa National Maori Authority Incorporated,” and this is also listed at the Companies Office’s registry of incorporated societies.

The latter registry shows this is the organisation’s fourth name. Earlier names were:

– Nga Ngaru Rautahi o Aotearoa National Urban Maori Authority Incorporated.

– Nga Ngaru Rautahi o Aotearoa Incorporated.

– Nga Ngaru Hauora o Aotearoa Incorporated, the name when the organisation was formed in 1998.

The Charities Register lists a “trading name” for the organisation: “Nga Ngaru”.

It also lists a web site, http://www.ngangaru.co.nz. My Malware Browser Guard blocked me from going there saying it was suspected of being compromised.

Strangely, this site address is is available for purchase, but ngangaru.com is not. I couldn’t get through to it either. Perhaps a hacker-scale Kiwiblog follower might succeed.

Meanwhile, if anyone can use “national authority” as part of an organisation title, that could get interesting.

He is perhaps unaware that women have children and are often unwilling to forego their best breeding years in order to undergo speciality training. Also, many male doctors start but drop out due to the demands that are put on them and revert to general practice.

However, I know of 2 young female doctors who are doing just that in order to specialise.

  I suspect the long-term answer is that we need to train at least twice as many people in medicine, so there are enough people to, firstly, have reasonable working hours (to keep more of them stay engaged) and secondly, to allow for slower progression into specialties. It might actually be an advantage if medical professionals had first hand experience raising (their own) children.
  Of course, it would be an enormous investment in medical schools and, if hours drop, salaries would need to change commeasurately. I wonder if the profession would actually go for it?

In Auckland city today there is anti-Semitic protest going on. It’s outside my window under the guide of being pro-Palestinian. However, I know it is anti-Semitic by it’s chants. “Israel must go” and “Palestine will be free from the river to the sea”. It looks like Unite Union is fully behind this.

‘Government scientists revealed in minutes released on Friday night that the variant could ‘realistically’ be 50% more infectious than the Kent strain, which models project could lead to 1,000 deaths a day, as well as 10,000 daily hospitalisations, by the summer.
