The Labour Party are running a ‘Labour Party Business Conference’, selling refreshments and access to Ardern, Robertson, Parker et al. Tickets are $1795. They screamed blue murder when National did this.
Brilliant comment from Seymour; ‘Either the New Zealand business community is queuing up to learn how to run a student union and a fish and chip shop, or it’s straight-out graft.’
National are such a timid opposition compared to this guy I reckon.

      Yes, that is the way I see it as well, Chris R.
      At least I know what Mr Seymour (and his party) stands for, and I can take it – or leave it.
      I’ve always previously been a National Party voter but now have trust issues with that party.
      I don’t know what they believe in and the impression is that they don’t either.
      If National did win the next general election could they be trusted not to just carry on with a lot of Labour’s highly divisive and punitive policies?

        You’re not allowed to vote for National. A vote for Seymour helps keep National out. Collins is not for reporting, she and her team are actually capable.
        
        Guess who is going to have to fix up the Labour residual mess? It can only be National. Get used to not hearing from them; the media have been paid to keep them out of power. Anything reported about National must be to their discredit.
        
        The Muldoon era will return. Labour seem to have unleashed a wage/price spiral which will ultimately determine everything else. It’s either stop it or Venezuela. They did it before and the recovery was effected but it was a gruesome necessity. National have the fortitude for that.
        
        Pity we can’t chastise incompetent “leaders”.

        KevO’Brien: They can fix this. Put all their news releases on YT, FB, and Bitchute. Also e.mail them to swing voters, and members. Step two is to tell the MSM that the next National led government will not be placing any advertising with them. And there will be no bail outs. Step three is to delete TVNZ, and RNZs ‘news, and current affairs’ divisions. It’s way past time for them to play hard ball.

    I disagree, Tony. Now is the time for the leader of the opposition to loudly, forcefully, and mockingly address the lying absurdity that is the current government.
    
    Standing at the edge and making the occasional polite punch might have been how Collins had leadership modeled to her.
    
    But times have changed, and unless National change they will be forever consigned to being nice, and responsible for lightly papering over the previous administrations social and economic crevasses

      When I heard Seymour speak last time he joked that Labour could announce full communism and the only response from National would be that people should vote National because they would be a more disciplined communist party.

      Small parties can always be edgier than major parties. What works for David Seymour would almost certainly not work for Judith Collins. Act is more to the right than National. Act’s potential voter pool does not sit in the centre, and has not recently voted Labour.
      
      At least to some extent the Opposition has to give some sense of being the alternative government with the intent of getting the middle vote.
      
      Attacking the PM at the level Krazy proposes would almost certainly backfire for Judith. It certainly would not attract middle voters, who actually voted Labour at the last election.

        Times have changed, Wayne. And you clearly haven’t. National should quit chasing middle voters and be prepared to provide a stark alternative to the neo-Marxist drift left. If ‘middle New Zealand’ wants more calamitous governance they can continue to vote for it. The alterative needs to be distinct and clear, rather than a lipstick adorned Kunekune.

        This is the cover National use to be completely wet. National largely agree with Labo but make the claim they would be better at implementing Labo’s policies than Labo itself. Thats National point of difference.

        It’s no good waiting for the electorate to come around. National have sat on their hands for two decades or more, while the left are always scheming and playing politics as they should. National should be telling voters what they need, not the other way round, and what the country needs (and the West more generally) is a “drastic” and reactionary re-orientation, and a move to the right on social policy particularly. Social policy is the battle ground now and for the foreseeable future. This is how significant changes get made, because a lot of people just go with the prevailing current. So tell them what they need, and legislate for that. Change will ensue.
        
        Look at gay marriage for instance. Even 20 years ago, this was never popular, and no rational argument was ever put forward. But it is now accepted, and all of the insidious perversions that are it’s logical consequence are now being foisted on us, simply due to a very committed and determined small minority who told people that this was what they needed.

      I also find Collins’ apparent pusillanimity frustrating. I like Seymour very much, although I’d vote ACT anyway because I agree with their policy platform more than National’s.
      
      One (admittedly generous) interpretation of Collins’ performance is that she’s playing a long game. She’d be aware that Ardern’s support base is about two thirds female, as evinced by a recent (Ray Morgan?) poll. She has to win back support from a lot of women who, having previously voted National, went over to Ardern because she saved the nation from COVID (or something). So Collins might be taking a low key approach, knowing that attacking Ardern directly would risk further alienating voters – especially female voters – who see her as the great saviour.
      
      The trouble with that strategy of course, is that Collins may well be replaced before the shine wears off Ardern’s halo. Also, the media are relentlessly hostile to Collins and National anyway, so an openly aggressive approach, at once taking both them and Ardern to task, seems to me more likely to work. But then, I’m a man and an ACT voter, and will stay both, so maybe I’m the wrong person to be giving Collins strategy advice.

        ACT should ditch the libertarian nonsense and become what National should be: socially conservative. ACT will become the 2nd major party.
        
        I think that the radical left (really just the left nowadays) have overplayed their hands, people can see this now, and so there is a latent desire to get back to what worked for 2000 years: conservatism. The electorate just needs to be pushed in that direction. And I’m not talking of the stereotypical Colin Craig-esque/Evangelical Christian conservatism here (that is just a media caricature) I’m talking the real deal, a genuine, pragmatic and philosophically sound Edmund Burke-style conservatism. Basically, what used to be accepted as (dare I say it) common sense.
        
        Seymour’s libertarianism is, by definition, supportive of all of the destructive social BS that gets complained about here on KB every day. Libertarianism is a liberal ideology after all, so ultra-personal freedom leads to transitioning teenagers, inverted gender roles and mass immigration for instance. It’s a naive political view of 18 year olds in nice suits, and is not a mature or pragmatic worldview. More generally, “fiscally conservative and socially liberal” isn’t getting the country anywhere anytime soon.

        That doesn’t make much sense to me Happy. Obviously ACT will support a future National-led government, so ACT’s rise in popularity does not, of itself, increase the likelihood of a third Labour term. In fact, arguably it gives National a freer hand to capture the middle, knowing that any votes it loses on its right flank, will be for its only reliable support partner. (Not that I’m at all in favour of National moving any further left.)
        
        Perhaps National did keep ACT alive during the 2010s. But they didn’t do so out of charity – they did it precisely because they value having their right flank covered. Neither does that make ACT beholden to them. ACT’s job is to represent those of us who find National too weak-willed, too unprincipled and, frankly, too left-wing to deserve our votes. In a future National-led government, we will rely on ACT as an anchor to stop National drifting too far from centre-right values. The stronger a voice they have in that government the better.

      I agree – being uncontroversial and ignored by the msm (unless they do say something controversial) is a strategy that backfired last election. It’s effectively waiting for the govt to self-destruct. The alternative is to be ‘controversial’ and try to tap into a growing dissatisfaction with the govt as they show their true colours i.e. totally beholden to the Grey Lynn set.       There’d be some anguished gnashing of teeth as some of the citizens of this little country realised that they actually had to work for their own living, attend to their own education, save their own money, in order to prosper.
      I’m sure that there are some good people in Act, but they are political newbies – apart from Seymour – and could possibly turn out to have just as silly ideas as the current government if they found themselves in Parliament and able to let their imaginations run riot.
      We need ‘been there, done that’ people who have learnt from others’ mistakes.

  This is fine whichever party does it. Parties are entitled to fundraise and there really are a sufficient number of people either foolish or vain enough to hand over $1800 in the mistaken belief that politicians will listen to them. The alternative is taxpayer funding of political parties which would be much worse.

Here’s someone putting their money where their mouth is. $US2million dollars could be yours. This entrepreneur has spent the last 9 months researching the Covid-19 prophylactic and treatment potential of a range of post-patent pharmaceuticals.

The hypothesis is that there could a simple, safe and cheap solution to the alternative – economically destructive social measure and mandated (or ‘encouraged’) application of experimental ‘vaccines’ for every human.

Kirsch is now offering $US1m for anyone who can prove that the WHO and NHI’s claim that as a drug protocol, Ivermectin or fluvoxamine resolves with a NEUTRAL or AGAINST rating rather than, as he asserts, a BENEFICIAL rating.

To be fair, the offer is not available to everyone. To claim the prize, one must provide irrefutable evidence and be current a member of what Kirsch calls ‘key enablers of the myth’. So you’ll need to be a prof, doctor, editor of a peer reviewed journal, employee of WHO or NHI, a ‘fact checker’, politician etc.

      You do know that drug companies routinely hire people to update Wikipedia with their own information?
      Profit for drug companies from ivermectin is zero, hence you won’t find big funding for studies to prove its efficacy, I would say “or not” but drug company studies really only prove the efficacy of their products with the best science money can buy.

Well David Seymour and Judith Collins are condemning our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern after Toyota shut down her latest claim and lies over “the Companyis bringing in EV Utes “to New Zealand .
Toyota says it’s ” disappointed in misinformation ” after Jacinda Ardern suggested it’s in discussions to bring in the electric version of the famous ute here” within the next- were hoping the next 12 to 24moths – the likes of Toyota are talking about bringing EV Utes.
” My hope is people might delay their purchase in order to start building the market” she told the AM Show on Monday.

    The sordid tale of a movie about her that was produced by someone who lives in the same city as Ardern. Who is married to Simon Wilson , a well know Labour supporting mouthpiece.
    Ardern is the associate minister for Arrs and Culture and clearly would have crossed paths many times with Campbell but apparently as the star of this movie has never talked to Campbell about this.
    National need to flog this for all it’s worth as the truth will destroy Ardern

  Thinking about EV utes is a little like comparing an electric chainsaw to a 2 stoke chainsaw.
  You can play with the electric one around the garden and run for a charger very quickly.
  If you want to cut a big tree off a fence, I would actually not consider taking an electric chain saw to do the job. I am just not that stupid.
  Utes are the same, the greenies think they are great driving around the city. Most wouldn’t had ever had to find how to select 4 wheel drive.
  When you are up to your neck in mud and water, amount of almost endless torque will give you a fighting chance.
  I am yet to be convinced an EV tractor, ute, or truck will cut the mustard.
  Taking the kiddies to school in downtown woke city is very different to what utes where actually designed for.

    OMG – we bought a mid-range electric chainsaw ($300 CAD) because we’ve got a few elderly trees on the hobby farm, and one blew down… SEVEN minutes of battery for a dead cottonwood (!). Total ripoff, charlatans the lot of them. Mr Pharma went and got a 2 stroke the next week.

    If a tractor or UTE runs out of fuel in the field a mate can dash over with a Jerry can. (assuming there isn’t one already strapped on somewhere), the best way to refuel a empty EV tractor would be a petrol Generator I guess……….or a really really really long extention cable 🙂

  I posted yesterday as to why you will not see electric utes for some time to come and why EVs are not a good choice in freezing conditions. In a simple word: Substantial battery capacity loss. The last type of vehicle you would want to be stuck in during a snow storm, would be an EV.

      Now you claim that National would have repealed the RMA had they been elected this time.
      Why would they when they didn’t want to before?

  Let me get my head around this. For months people from all walks of life were claiming that crime was out of control around emergency housing locations. At best this was seen as anecdotal and not representative, and at worse it was labelled racist.
  
  Now the police are saying there has been an escalation. Did they think that everyone was lying about what they were seeing? Is this how quickly they can respond to any escalating situation? I don’t believe that is the case but it does point to how they respond to anything that has political implications.

This has had a massive negative effect on hospitality businesses in central Rotorua, as there are few tourists coming in to eat and drink now. I was at the Auckland Star when one of the reporters and a scientist proved the bullets and shells did not go together.

This time Arthur I recommend you sue each of the police pursuing the case for $1,000,000 each and $10,000,000 for whoever the police have gotten to lie this time.

  Victims of such historic offending expect justice to be done. And it changes in general Society attitudes that has enabled victims to come forward. In the past victims were reluctant to come forward because of stigma and that they considered they would not be believed. The Police are obliged to investigate and if Crown Law considers there is sufficient evidence, it needs to prosecute. The past history of the accused person has no bearing on this process. If he were convicted then the past would have some bearing. If the historic offending occurred prior to his murder charge arrest, the totality principle of sentencing would most probably indicate that he could not be sentenced to any more than probation/ supervision. If the historic offending occurred after his release from prison then sentencing would need to be on the basis he was a first time offender. Given his age and circumstances a custodial sentence would appear unlikely if convicted.
  It is not about the Police being vindictive – it is all about the victims’ rights and expectations. As well as the alleged victims of the current charges, victims of the original murders (for example the baby child of those murdered) have rights too. This (then) child has a continuing expectation that the Police would keep the file open and follow up any possibilities of identifying those who committed the murders. Theoretically Arthur could be tried again for the murders if compelling new evidence were found (because of a law change several years ago) but that would be extremely, extremely unlikely.

    Generally significant wrongdoing by the Police would need to be shown before the Police can be successfully sued. Baigent’s Case would be an example. As long as the current charges had been properly investigated and the prosecution properly based there would be no Police liability.
    Following Arthur’s belated acquittal on the murder charges, there were significant changes in Police and prosecution procedures. For example the Police and prosecution must make all the evidence available to the defence (except evidence to rebut alibis) even if the evidence is unhelpful to the prosecution case. For example the evidence statements of all four pediatricians (they were expert witnesses in that they could offer professional opinions as evidence) who examined the baby would now need to be made available to the defence, just not the one that best suited the Police case.

From the land that was identified, 48% or 135,694 was Whenua Maori.

Internal Police documents show emergency housing has been flagged as a area of increasing concern but neither they nor the Government will reveal the extent of the problem.
When asked in April what they were seeing on the ground and what was being done if people felt unsafe in and around emergency housing police declined a interview saying they didn’t collect that specific data, but they did acknowledge concern about the “perceived increase “in crime.
RNZ continues to hear stories of Harassment, violence and dangerous living environments for children and families when they are at their most vulnerable.
National Party MP Simeon Brown asked Police Minister Poto Williams for statistics on call outside and bail checks tagged to the addresses of the ten high earning Motels but Williams did not consider it ” in the public interest ” to answer questions regarding specific properties with the details requested.

An insider at the arizona election audit where they have finished hand counting 2.1million ballots is claiming that officially tabulated votes are 5-10% higher (1-200k) than the number of ballots – that’s 10-20x Biden’s margin of victory.         I’m not sure why you think that Trump is or was an authoritarian because there is no evidence that he is or was. For instance, Trump didn’t ban certain topics from social media, he himself was banned; Trump didn’t use the media to propagandise the nation, the media propagandised the nation against Trump; Trump isn’t going to use the force of the state to kneecap a political opponent, he himself will have that done to him; his supporters are not using the state to persecute political opponents, their political enemies are using the state to do so to them … I could go on.
        
        But notwithstanding that you’ll obviously swallow anything you’re told without questioning it, I’d prefer a strong authoritarian who acts in the best interests of his country than a weak individual who bows to the demands of others and oversees the debasement of their country because they hate it.
        
        I understand that your opposition to authoritarians is just another case of your believing whatever self-interested sources tell you, but there is nothing wrong with authoritarians in themselves, it depends entirely on what their policies are.

    If “all cultures” are to celebrated in New Zealand, then there is no distinctive or unique New Zealand culture. There is no “New Zealand” except as a geographical term. Why can’t other cultures just be celebrated in their countries of origin, their natural habitat? Why should we foreigners in a faraway land have to celebrate theirs when ours (however defined) wouldn’t be in their homelands if a few of us emigrated? Multiculturalism doesn’t make sense until you understand it’s actually about attacking one specific culture that a specific population with a specific skin colour has or shares. After all, multiculturalists never campaign for more multiculturalism in Thailand, Saudi Arabia or Nigeria, only Western white-majority countries. The double standards, hypocrisy and prejudice are quite clear to anyone with actual principles and a genuine desire for humanity.

  It must be pretty stressful for them, to come up with media releases to take the heat of controversies!
  
  Take for instance yesterday’s apology announcement, totally out of the blue (in fact there was a Stuff article yesterday “Pasifika petitioner moved to tears by ‘surprise’ dawn raids apology”).
  
  Although the apology is deserved in my opinion, as per the above headline being a ‘surprise’, it somewhat suggests that the PM’s media people put the apology out early to take the heat out of the Ardern film controversy (and perhaps the recent cycling bridge/Nurse’s pay/EV rebate unease etc) and did it do the job or what because media focus was totally on the apology.
  
  That may make for ‘smart politics’ by Labour, but if Labour are spending all their time working on deflections, how much time are they devoting to actually running the country properly?
  
  For example, are we running out of vaccines? Discussions on ZB this morning suggest we have (until more shipments arrive)!

      The apology isn’t to those who were the law breakers, but to the innocent who were targeted because of their race and that alone.
      Pragmatically of course it is largely virtue signalling but it opens the door for all sorts of claims against the tax payer. Just wait, the opportunistic social warrior lawyers will be out in force.
      Interestingly, immigration rightly still target genuine overstayers and pre-dawn visits are still the most effective way of arresting them.
      Checking into the history of the time, however, it created an atmosphere of fear that was highly damaging and waving it all away as just going after law breakers is simplistic and not correct. If that is all that happened, it wouldn’t be an issue. However, the strategy was such a blunt and clumsy tool that for even legitimate residents it had them effectively living under a police state in genuine fear. The use of dogs to round people up, innocent and guilty alike indiscriminately added to the terror it engendered.
      If that is considered ok, then I would see that as a somewhat corrupted sense of values and morality. Clearly it wasn’t right in the way it was managed.

I remember when

I was regaled at the weekend with a story about the difficulties exporters to Australia can have.
The shipment of manufactured plant took almost 2 months to reach the destination.
It arrived 12 hours before the deadline or it would have been rejected.
To reach the destination it visited various NZ ports, was no doubt loaded and unloaded several times, virtually circumnavigated NZ on one voyage, sat at anchor in Sydney, Melbourne then back to Sydney.
Then a finally frantic truck journey across the Nullarbor to Perth.

  It was deliberate in its time, the 1970’s. Labour were not friendly or kind or loving to overstaying Pacific Islanders. Many of whom were very scared of police dogs who are trained to present as hostile.
  The lurk was to catch them asleep, round them up and send them on their way. That made shock waves through their community and hopefully deferred others from overstaying.

Why should I have had to go through all the paperwork to immigrate when your cuzzies just hop the fence? You special or something?

Cindy apologises and says it was against the UN human right declaration. What horseshit. There is no human right protecting you from being nabbed and thrown out of the country for being here illegally.

Cindy’s own government has deported many, perhaps hundreds. Where was the concern over the UN declaration when those happened?

So why are these people special and deserving of an apology, but other deportees are not?

We’re on the road to zero law and order. We’ve given up in so many areas already.

  Imagine the PTSD being experienced by these robbers due to the police:
  1) They have to get up early to do their work at 6:20 am – no cuzzy should have to be out of bed before 9.
  2) They probably didn’t even have time to have a good brekkie. We all know that people do not perform well on an empty stomach.
  3) While they’re trying to do their work to feed their families, they’re all stressed up that the cops might chase them!
  4) They were forced to flee at high speeds. Huge danger. Sounds like a H&S issue caused by the cops. Imagine the stress caused by having to speed!
  
  Right there our cops are violating the UN declaration on human rights in at least 4 ways and giving out crims PTSD!

  Back in those days people like you could have been arrested in the street if you weren’t carrying your passport, if you had a dark complexion.
  Sure there were people here from Tonga & Samoa who overstayed there visa, but to catch them the police detained far more people who had every right to be here such as Cook Islanders and others who don’t need a visa.

    Well it really has nothing to do with my accent.
    
    If you are in a foreign country you should be carrying your passport and are subject to scrutiny no matter your colour, what you have between your legs or what you do with it. If I am in a foreign country (eg. USA) I carry my passport with me unless I’m going to the beach or such.
    
    I am sure that people were sometimes profiled and the net also picked up some that were legally here (and no doubt quickly released them). That’s unavoidable collateral damage from looking like a lot of the criminals (because that’s what overstayers are). If they are due an apology for being profiled – fine, but that is not what this is about.
    
    In the case highlighted here it has nothing to do with people being stopped in the street. It is about a house being raided – legitimately, completely above board – because there were criminal overstayers in the house.

The more plausible scenario is that by the end of the northern summer, the UK will have achieved effective herd immunity and the pandemic will be over for them.     New analysis by Public Health England (PHE) has revealed that 29% of Covid deaths from the B.1.617.2 Indian strain had received two injections. And, in a further blow, the PHE report suggests the Delta variant has a 64% increased risk of household transmission compared to the Kent (Alpha) variant.
    
    The fear machine remains in full swing. The fearful are preyed upon, and denied effective prophylactic or treatment options.

Swiss voters have rejected legislation at the heart of the country’s strategy to abide by the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The CO2 law was turned down on Sunday by 51.6% of voters.

21 of the 26 Cantons votes against the increases., while most support was from urban centres.

Seems those who live in the mountains with snow and ice, oddly, prefer cars to bikes.

  Why the Swiss people rejected the new climate law
  
  Thus the CO2 law will not come into effect. Only two cantons accepted the law, Vaud and Zurich. Like many other types of left/green laws there was a clear distinction between rural and urban Swiss.
  
  Conservative rural cantons rejected the carbon law very clearly. In the rural village in the canton of Thurgovia were we live 69% of voters said no. Our system of direct democracy has once again proven its democratic value. Both the Swiss government and parliament (the Senat and the House of Representatives) supported the CO2 law. The CO2 legislation would have been very severe for Swiss households and businesses, putting a tax of more than 200 Swiss Francs per ton of CO2 on energy. Gas and oil heatings would effectively have been prohibited and petrol at the pump costing 12 raps more per litre bringing the total tax levy up to more than 1 CHF per liter.
  
  In the case of the CO2 law the result is also a triumph over the mainstream propaganda. In Switzerland, the only political party agains the CO2 law was SVP (Swiss Peoples Party). All other parties were for the law. It went so far that even the Swiss Automobile Association (your RAC) was for the CO2 law too. But even more important was the fact that all mainstream media were in favour of the law too, including Swiss TV and Radio.
  
  There are just a few newspapers now in Switzerland promoting a policy of reason and conservative values. One is Weltwoche with its owner Roger Köppel, another one is the (newly) Nebelspalter. Both are weekly newspapers like the Economist. By consequence the result is a triumph of reason over propaganda. Which – and now I come back to what you said – shows that people vote much more intelligently than politicians and mainstream media believe, if presented with the key facts and arguments.
  
  Todays’ referendum was very important for Switzerland because it demonstrated to both government and parliament that we Swiss are more down to earth and show more common sense that our political elite.

With regard to the Dawn Raids and the apology, it’s entirely appropriate that a Labour PM is delivering the apology, given that the raids were conceived and commenced under the Kirk Labour Government in 1973.

National doesn’t escape culpability either, with the TV advertisements used in the 1975 campaign, and the raids continuing until the early 1980’s under Muldoon’s leadership. On that basis, Judith Collins comments yesterday supporting the apology were totally appropriate.

Whilst trying to track down overstayers was well-intentioned, targeting Pacific Islanders was not, especially when official figures showed that the majority of overstayers were from the UK and Europe. It’s a sad chapter in our history that should now be put to rest.

A couple of years ago, Ms Ardern was spending all her time with American game show hosts, and on publicity shoots for magazines.

Some dude started the legendary “Turn Ardern” campaign, in the hope that this would encourage Ms Ardern to concentrate on her duties.

Alas, this government has continued to be atrocious decision makers – indeed it is the worst government NZ has had since Sir Robert Muldoon’s government 1975 – 1984. How much of this bad decision-making is caused by a lack of focus?

I note that on the celebrity front, we now have a veritable avalanche of books and movies celebrating the cult of Saint Jacinda.

Suffice to say, the Muslim victims of Christchurch are complaining about Ms Ardern exhibiting a saviour or Messiah complex. This has been obvious to everyone for years.

I believe some sort of protest is required. Ms Ardern needs to be told in no uncertain terms that holding herself out as a latter-day Messiah is not acceptable. She is not a God!

Is it time to once again “Turn Ardern”?

She simply did what is required from a leader.

I well remember the era of ‘dawn raids’ as I frequently drove along K.Rd and there were many Island people shopping or just chatting. The first day of the raids my Maori co driver said ‘hey, where have all the Islanders gone?’ The street was almost 100% white and the difference to the usual was interesting to say the least. As an aside, the Maori chap’s attitude to Islanders was of the Billy T humour type, and no he didn’t like them much.

  Now the damning fact. It was this exact sequence that appears in CoV-2. Proponents of zoonotic origin must explain why the novel coronavirus, when it mutated or recombined, happened to pick its least favorite combination, the double CGG. Why did it replicate the choice the lab’s gain-of-function researchers would have made?

We (humans) are in danger of losing the ability to accept an element of risk, or danger.
When was the last time we heard of an accident – you know, one of those situations that are accepted as nobody’s fault.
Vaccination does not guarantee freedom from covid – it only minimises the risk of infection and death.
Will we be able to travel into space (no risk there) before we open up to the UK.

I remember when

A ninety two year in NZ had their second covid vaccination on Thursday and reportedly died in hospital on Monday.
No cause of death known.

  No, no. The narrative-supporting formula is clear on this:
  
  1. If the deceased had not been ‘vaccinated’ and someone with a Dr in front of their name thought Covid might have been present, then the cause of death is definitely Covid. Definitely.
  
  2. If the deceased had been vaccinated then only a conspiracy theorist would claim the vaccine was the cause. The decease died of pre-existing conditions.

Govt to spend $500K on second RNZ-TVNZ merger report
The Government is expecting to spend $500,000 on this report according to written Parliamentary answers.
ACT Party leader David Seymour said given the price tag he hoped it tells Faafoi more than the PWC report, which included information such as “who the chief executive of TVNZ is”.
“Perhaps we should be looking at the quality of our 59,000 strong public service and why they can’t put together a business case. We can’t keep outsourcing reports like this at a huge cost to hard-working taxpayers.”
Faafoi said an assessment was made that the business case work was not a “business as usual skillset for the Ministry” [1]

• Did the first report (nearly $400,000 on a 100-page draft business case by PWC) not give the Government the answer they wanted?
• How long before it is realised the big shake-up of Māori media, under the guidance of Willie Jackson [2], should be dealt with as part of the RNZ-TVNZ merger?
After all is Maori television not another state broadcaster?

It seems a little like building an extra Auckland Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, where for spending a portion more you could have a second vehicle bridge but still accommodate cyclists and pedestrians.

  The purpose of these reports is to answer the absolute bare minimum and ensure that any follow up reports require a further report.

FFS: It is close to impossible to get alcohol poisoning from drinking beer. Spirits – sure, beer not so easy.

The average NZ male is about 88kg. You’d need about 500ml of alcohol to get alcohol poisoning. At 5% alcohol that’s around 10 litres of beer. You’ll spew long before you get there.

Spirits are of course very different because:
1) Much higher alcohol levels per volume.
2) They have the effect of “stunning” the nervous system so you’re less likely to spew them out.

Having run a student pub for 3 years I am well aquainted with people trying to do 24 hour challenges etc. They can get very, very drunk, but none got close to alcohol poisoning.
