Is Brown Racism intergenerational? – and is mental colonisation passed on pretty much the same way?

Like any New Zealand born child, Maori children are a clean slate until their minds are written on by family or context. Some get an interpretation of the under-dog mantra which is regurgitated or extended in almost every mention of Maori in the media, like this near-iconic representation –

… Māori are more likely to be overweight, depressed, homeless, incarcerated and uneducated according to these disturbing statistics produced under National’s watch.*

– that was the exemplary version of the mantra back in February 2016 by Labour, for cheap political gain, being anti the (then) Maori Party for selling out to National, but at the same time repeating the endless trope of Maori being bottom of all social statistics.

Co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer said the party was demanding the Herald and its parent company NZME apologise to tangata whenua in all publications and radio stations, formally apologise for staff members and advertisers, review advertising standards including a robust plan to protect tangata whenua and a process for checking the accuracy of adverts.

That example of another aspect of the same mantra from media this morning.

Actually the first racial slur I can remember was one sunny morning early, walking down Russell Terence, Newtown, Wellington, I passed a little girl, about three years old, playing a bit out from the footpath with traffic whizzing past only a few feet away, and I said “You are too near those cars there. Play back over here by the footpath” and she said “Piss off, Pakeha”. That was just on fifty years ago. Passing a racial view to Maori young has gone on consistently for many decades.

Now, kids don’t read news websites, but this mantra of “Maori are dispossessed and so are entitled” is repeated endlessly in different combinations, and it is most likely parents who radicalise and mentally re-colonise young people, reinforcing their own beliefs at the same time –

Whatever thought you have in your mind is only coming from the data that is already been fed into you

  I can’t agree with this.
  It denies the possibility of innate behavioral characteristics. I know some people think this is an obscure bit of scientific theorizing but it’s actually fundamental.
  Every other animal on planet earth has innate behaviors, why not humans?

Herald Opinion piece today (paywalled) – Unemployment rising: Tax cuts mean nothing when you’ve lost your job – Shane Te Pou

Mr Te Pou goes on to say This week saw unemployment begin to increase again to 4.6% – that means thousands more hard-working Kiwis on the dole line. …. Tens of thousands of people on Jobseeker Support represents not only a cost to the government, but it’s also a huge loss to the economy, our productivity and to communities right around Aotearoa.

Cost to the government? Probably the opposite once the public sector job cuts and funding cuts to non performing service providers are taken into account. Thousands of roles and jobs disestablished, though a big chunk of those cuts are vacancies, assume with no longer needed budget attached. Easy for those bosses to meet the required savings target while avoiding awkward questions from Ministers.

Those left without a job will go on to Jobseeker benefit, not qualify due to income and assets or take up another job. Whichever, the cost to the taxpayer in each case is a whole lot less than the savings. (Common rule of thumb is that an employee costs about salary x 3, no doubt more if the money tree keeps delivering.)

As just one example, OT service provider Family Start says it needs to lay off 100 FTEs due to funding cuts. Seems to be about a quarter of staff. Quite possible some will go on to Jobseeker, yes a personal cost, but Mr Te Pou could perhaps take a look at whether 100 are laid off due to contracted delivery not met. And why.

Meanwhile, the economy is improving except in Wellington. Is that a surprise?

  According to Kiwibank, every region is recovering except Wellington. But I don’t trust anything put out by Kiwibank. With businesses demonstrably either closing or doing it tough, and no downward movement of the OCR, a serious pinch of salt should be taken when considering their findings.

        It’s a bit of an odd way to slide in an article about Wang Huning, a very important person who we really need to know about. It really deserves its own thread.
        After just a little signing in I can read the article fine with no payment required.
        One good thing about the CCP (and they really do deserve credit for this) is that the call the ideology and propaganda department chiefs, the ideology and propaganda department chiefs. we have to deal with “strategic communication coordinators”, “policy guideline facilitators” or some such guff and with job titles and org-charts that change every 6 months. That’s an obscurantist political system that doesn’t want to be seen and examined, even by itself.

      Chuck, I am surprised your conscience allows you to subscribe to The Herald. They lost my subscription when they whipped up mob frenzy leading up to the Let Women Speak tour meeting in Albert Park. They weren’t interested when I told them that their coverage had been unbalanced and irresponsible. They also decided they would set the target for 90% of NZers to be vaccinated – that isnt reporting on the news it is shaping the news.

        I congratulate you on your stance. The NZ Herald has taken a leftist editorial line and allowing a few opinion pieces from people who are ostensibly on the right doesn’t change that. It’s a shame Chuck has decided to keep paying the salaries of rabid leftists like Simon Wilson and Rod Emmerson. There is little that we can practically do to combat the left, denying The Herald funds is one small area where we can make a difference.

        I agree that the Herald is pretty bad I think they are shocking about not allowing anything challenging anything about climate change that does not support the alarmist view.

    A brief look at the article. Companies are having to close while the price of power is too high.
    
    Methanex Running at half capacity because of a lack of gas.
    
    It will take years to fix and we need to start now. One of the key things that needs to happen is a change in policy from labour so if they get in they don’t cause this again. Also so investors have confidence that labour won’t get in and cancel any exploration or new plants

Healing may be a life-long process, but we do have some say in how it unfolds. If we block off our emotions and refuse to acknowledge the way we are feeling over time, it stymies our ability to grow, heal, learn, move past the tragedy, and write new chapters of life.

I think something major is around the corner, and it will be great to see the army deal with them. I am sure civil war can be fought by the army, surely.

Tarrant was driven by his warped mental version of the same “Great Replacement” Theory – the “Great Replacement” and the greater silence?
How many others are there out there. Waiting.

And what if one Government gives a race / social grouping what they have yearned for, then the next Government has to take it away again
Are Maori being dispossessed, even this time of pretty much an illusion, and will re-colonise younger Maori further, over something that doesn’t exist?

Without any discussion allowed because the general mainstream media has become part of the problem with an agenda of its own.

The Einstein quote can be thrashed yet again, but is the requirement now a thinking different to what got us here?

I’ve been thinking that defining the Treaty Principles is not going to resolve the dispute about what the treaty means. So our political leaders need to approach this differently to achieve the same goal of equality for all. Why not just create a law called the ‘Treaty with all NZ citizens’ stating that the crown makes the same commitments to all NZers that were made under the Treaty of Waitangi. That way any future ‘scope creep’ ie radio waves, television channels, fishing rights etc get applied equally to all NZers.

Would it be possible to legislate equality to all citizens in this manner? If so it would take the wind out of the elites sails who are constantly fomenting division.

  The Treaty of Waitangi, Article three.
  
  “In return for the cession of their sovereignty to the Queen, the people of New Zealand shall be protected by the Queen of England and the rights and privileges of British subjects will be granted to them.”
  
  It’s very clear, Isn’t it? Maori were given British citizenship with the signing of the Treaty.

      One would think they would use the original English Littlewood Draft (written by Busby and Hobson) or the original Maori translation.

        Not “REPEALED” as Luxon and National keep saying. Shut down forever and a day.
        Trouble is the Courts are stacked with activists. The Courts allow the civic duty to bend the laws and norms to suit their feels.
        New Zealand has been taken to the cleaners since 1975. Almast 50 years.

    You have allowed yourself to slide from British SUBJECT to British CITIZEN without noticing it.
    Words have specific meanings and in legal documents those meanings mean most of all.
    What is most interesting to me is how these linguistic slides happen and the politics they reveal.
    Political discourse in the USA has suffered from a similar slide with “Republic” smoothly morphing into “Democracy”.

National need to be savvy with their inflation targets for the Reserve Bank. With the economy in free fall and the economic vandal Adrian Orr indicating he won’t be moving interest rates it is National that will suffer from a deeper recession than necessary. Do you think Adrian Orr – friend of Wokeism, leader of Māori mysticism, enabler of Robertsons wrecking ball to our economy – would be pleased to damage National by driving a deeper and more painful recession?

Willis should reset the inflation target, to 3-5% for 12 months with below 3% the target in the second year. That will guarantee easing of the OCR and hopefully limit the extreme free fall in the economy. The way we are heading at the moment we will overshoot the target while businesses struggle to survive and unemployment numbers will balloon.

The economy needs a gentle hand on the tiller, not the buffoon installed by Robertson. So if National can’t replace him, they must out manoeuvre him!

        AitchW. I much prefer the U.S. system where every political appointee tenders their resignation once the election result is known.
        
        The incoming Government (even if the Government hasn’t changed) can say ‘No, stay!’ if they so choose.
        
        Mind, the U.S. bizarrely allows the sitting President to inflict upon us his choices for Supreme Court justices and usually, those appointed individuals are there until they drop dead.

      Any contract can be terminated and/or changed, if non compliance, failure to deliver and/or failure to comply with expectations is detected.
      
      It would cheaper to just fire him or nudge him to leave and pay him out his full salary. Unless he has ulterior motives, who would turn down a 4 years fully paid holiday, citing “I want to spend more time with family”?

  Too late, current inflation rate period at 4% is to March 2024. Inflation now is said to be at 3% already.
  Secondary market interest rates have tumbled over the past two weeks. Trading banks are reducing mortgage rates on a daily basis, and TD rates, with plenty more to come.
  This will play out well for National with two years until the next election, CPI stable and a record of sound money management behind them.

  But according to Kiwibank every region except Wellington is recovering. I don’t believe it but clearly some do. Katie Bradford said on One News a few nights ago that the Reserve Bank will be aiming to get the OCR back to 2.75% and if that is the case then we are clearly going to be in for more madness in our economy, more property FOMO, more housing crisis heartache, more of our younger generations leaving for Australia, and eventually a renewed uptick in inflation. Surely the neutral rate should be around 4%. Have we learned nothing from the past few years? We are living in a mad house.

Too many cheap first homes look like shit after a very few years due to shoddy materials and workmanship as well as a lack of preventive maintenance on cheap building materials.     For a long time whitelist and blacklist were used in computing, but now the terms allow-list and deny-list are preferred. This is despite the fact that the original terms had nothing to do with race. But over time people forget where things came from, so appearances matter. An un-informed observer could thing they are to do with race so they are no longer used. So it is quite ironic that TPM are trying to turn the phrase around and make it about race again.         You are right and the “long before” needs to be stressed as these sorts of racial terms/attitudes have not been the case for the majority of people I know in my lifetime. I never heard this said at school, in the rugby club, at family get togethers etc. While you can no doubt find outliers, this has not been common over the past 50 + years in NZ. Some here longer in the tooth than me might be able to date how long ago those descriptions were in common parlance.
        
        However, young Polynesians associating with Black American culture has been very prevalent. To the point that I have been told by a Samoan NZer that they see themselves aligned with the Black American struggle.

      David, I read somewhere a while back that some island nations have been drawing water from aquifers over decades and these aquifers have not been replenished with enough rainfall to compensate. This is causing the islands to sink, hence sea levels “rising”.

      The basis of National Standards was reporting to parents in plain language about whether their child was meeting the expected standard of achievement, or was significantly below or above.

      These people already have to take a plethora of tests and satisfy a number of conditions before they can step in the ring or toe the line.
      The IOC is running the games and they set the rules

The Wall Street Journal has printed opinion piece on the British riots by Dominic Green, whom it describes as a “fellow of the Royal Historical Society”.

Green is the editor of the US edition of “The Spectator”.

An extract:

Immigration and crime have turned Britain—until the 1990s a generally homogenous, high-trust society—into a balkanized, low-trust society. The traditional model of “policing by consent,” rather than coercion, has collapsed. Police have failed to solve a single burglary in nearly half of English and Welsh neighborhoods over the past three years, and they haven’t slowed the knife-crime epidemic driven by turf wars and the drug trade. Unable to control the cities and intimidated by Islamists in particular, government officials and police officers have outsourced policing to “community leaders.” The law is applied unequally, and sometimes not at all.

Will the UK’s newly announced campaign of teaching children to “spot conspiracy theories” mean Brits will ban the Wall Street Journal as a hate source?

Meanwhile, the “Telegraph” reports British Education Minister Bridget Phillipson as saying that pupils as young as five will be given “critical thinking skills to identify misinformation online”.

Thank God that Labour wasn’t re-elected in NZ. The Looney-Left, in sympathetic parallel, would try to implement courses of logic and symbolic logic in our schools before teaching our kids arithmetic. Imagine the Leftist indoctrination of kids.

  Trafalgar Group and (Scott) Rasmussen polls almost always put Republicans higher than other major pollsters. So take with a grain of salt. Mind you many other pollsters tilt strongly Democrat in same way.
  
  There’s a lot of gaming of results that can be done with sample selection biases, and good pollsters try to tweak their polling sampling based on comparisons to election results. Which would be great IF there were no massive voting fraud by Democrats, but also means they only have to line up with reality at elections and can put their hand on the scales to a varying degree at other times.
  
  These pollsters are being paid to produce a product that suits their customers. For strongly skewed-left MSM and deep pocket left wing tech donors and $multi billion dollar budget DNC there is obviously going to be a strong motive to flatter left wing candidates to create impression that they are popular – voters like to back winners and are less likely to get out of bed for languishing candidates.

    Yes I have heard that Trope before about Rasmussen and Trafalgar but their predictions versus actual are very accurate and came out well.
    So the claim is wrong.
    Rasmussen is also independant and doesnt rely on funding and gets all its income from advertising.
