Listen to Radio NZ
August 29th, 2008 at 11:02 am by David FarrarFirst listen to Bob Jones here.
Jones explicitly says Peters has lied to Parliament, as he is not happy with the information he has received to date.
Then listen to Winston Peters here.
Peters reveals he has been speaking to Bob Jones to reassure him about his donation to the Spencer Trust, and that it has been properly accounted for. But if Winston knows nothing about the Spencer Trust, how can he give that reassurance?
He went onto to say he had made inquires and is satisfied the money conclusively demonstrably ended up in NZ First.
If so, then why was no donation from either Bob Jones or the Spencer Trust declared in NZ First’s annual donation return to the Electoral Commission?
The entire interview is pathetic with Peters grasping for straws. He could give no credible answer to the question as to why he was not concerned that Owen Glenn was telling the PM of a donation he claimed to know nothing about. Any sane person would have contacted Owen Glenn and asked him why does he has this belief?
We also know that Peters and Glenn had talked after Feb 2008. Are we expected to beleive that having had the Prime Minister of NZ tell you that Owen Glenn thinks he donated $100,000 to you, Winston Peters would not have raised the issue with Owen Glenn when they were talking on other issues?

He was certainly painted into a corner, coming up short on several areas outside Bob Jones’ direct contradiction – reversing his stance on the 2006 yearling sales for example. He’s now claiming it’s not important whether he was there or not – wasn’t he the one who bought that up and claimed that it was.
The chickens are coming home to roost. He is now changing his story and contradicting himself (and known facts) so often that only the willfully ignorant can now claim that he is not lying through his teeth. It’s the end of the road.

Is it just me, or did Peters sound a lot like Muldoon before he declared the snap election? For the first time I feel really sorry for him. It is all coming crashing down – and I think you can hear that in his voice.

I thought that interview was incredible, 19 odd minutes and he hardly responded to a question with an answer.
A brilliant display of “Well let me ask you this”, “The question you should be asking”, “Remember this”, “Heres the real point”
“,” Here is the issue”

Winston has never answered any question from anyone with a lucid and clear answer. He’s been obfuscating for years so it’s no surprise to me what’s happening to him now. It’s all self-inflicted so no sympathy is due.

Rolled, bowled and rissoled. So he’s admitted that the $25k “demonstrably ended up in New Zealand First”, but NZ First failed to declare that. I can only presume that this “oversight” can only be prosecuted within six months of it occurring? Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt.

The John Key interview with kathryn Ryan is up now at National Radio. Key slams the door on Peters, then locks and bolts it, stating clearly that if he had to choose between governing with Peters in the ministry or not governing, he will not govern.

Midday has been and gone. Surely she won’t be daft enough to let this charade continue (can we be this lucky)? Winston is starting to crack. The “vile conspiracy” lines are reminiscient of nuclear subs in the cook straight – just less believable.

Neill – he can not be prosecuted in court for it, but he can be held accountable in the court of public opinion if this turns out to be the case.

You would have to include this classic in your random quotes surely?
“Radio NZ – Did Peters mislead parliament?
Bob Jones – he didn’t mislead them,.. HE LIED TO THEM”
just beautiful!

God they must be feeling soooooo betrayed that their luvely Helen has finally been exposed for the leadership fraud of all times that she always was.

LINDSAY said”Winston has never answered any question from anyone with a lucid and clear answer”……….Well he has given such clear and lucid answers if only on one occasion and in an odd way. He held up placards with the clear lucid answers on them, unfortunately they have all subsequently proved to be lies.

It would be great if Sir Bob Jones started to throw his weight around on the political scene like he did in the early ’80′s – he really was a force to be reckoned with, changed the course of history and all that. He is a rare example of a rich prick who is widely respected for the common touch, even by blue collar types.
