Wow. No wonder you’re so against spam 🙂 I’m the redirect for a few complete domains and I don’t get that much spam. Spamassassin reduces the number that get through to around 5-10 a day with no training. Wacky

I used to post in anti-spam newsgroups which does seem to increase the levels. Also I refuse to hide my e-mail address or munge it just because of spammers.

Yes the levels of spam I get do give me some personal incentive to fight back 🙂

You get more spam than just about anybody, and yet you have to deal with only 21 junk emails in your inbox over two days.

If this is the extent of the problem, do you really think we want the government using legislation to control which emails can and cannot be sent?

Yes, yes, yes.

First of all I don’t just have to deal with 21 spams. I have to browse through the headers of thousands a week to manually check for false positives.

Secondly it is costing me time and money.

Thirdly even if it gets filtered, it costs my ISP money and they will recover that from me. European ISPs estimate spam accounts for 10% of overheads.

Fourthly, without legislation, spam levels will just keep growing expoentially due to the unique economics of e-mail

Fifthly, It is not just about quantity. Kids getting porn spam is bad.

Sixthly, not all people have three filters, two of which cost a lot of money. The server side (free) filter is letting through 100 spams a day still

Seventhly, spammers are scum 🙂

I’d second Liam’s view on SpamBayes (it’s a plugin for Outlook). I use it here at work to tidy up after Mail Marshal – it’s very very accurate.

I do have to laugh that I now have around six different anti-spam products!
