Discharged without conviction for stabbing!

There may be more to it than the Dominion Post story reports, but I am puzzled by a decision to discharge without conviction a woman who stabbed her invalid husband.

I’m not saying she should go to jail, but to not face any consequence at all for stabbing an invalid?

As far as I can see, she:

* went out to the kitchen, got a knife and stabbed her husband in the chest with it
* she did not call an ambulance, he used his panic button
* it was potentially fatal due to his condition
* she didn’t even answer the phone when the hospital called, and he had to arrange for them come out

Yes she was stressed, and yes he threw a small container at her, but you don’t just stab people because you are stressed. It would be totally unacceptable excuse for a man stabbing a woman, and should be no different here.
