Beazley in trouble

Oh dear. Australian Labor may be getting a new Leader sooner rather than later. The big political issue (apart from Wheat Board bribes) has been the pre-selection challenge to former Leader Simon Crean. Beazley had been under immense pressure to support Crean is his battle but had refused.

To immense surprise Crean won the pre-selection battle with 70% of the vote. This means he will remain an MP with a future and a big grudge against Beazley.

To compound his problems his deputy leader has criticised him for not supporting Crean and did an interview seen as positioning herself for a leadership challenge.

And to round off Australian coverage, a great article in the SMH about the Howard Haters and how they live in a world of their own where they don’t know anyone who votes Howard. Very scathing and funny article.
