The NZ Herald reports that ” Cyber police are among measures being considered by the Government in a new discussion paper aimed at improving security in information and communications technology.”
This is just one aspect of their report which is online here.
Personally I would find it useful to have more Police who can deal with Internet issues. The e-crime unit are pretty knowledgable but they are very few in number and vastly over worked. Having at least a couple of officers in each police region who are up with the play would be good.
There is also a suggestion NZ looks at setting up a CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), as most other countries have. By coincidence an issue InternetNZ has been exploring for a while.
