The Anglican Church has grovelled and recalled its Welash magazine which had a cartoon in it which depicted Muhammad sitting on a heavenly cloud with Buddha and Christian and Jewish deities. In an apparent reference to the cartoon controversy, he is told: “Don’t complain … we’ve all been caricatured here.”
The Swedish Foreign Minister has resigned after she lied about not knowing about the Government closing down a website which carried the infamous cartoons. It turns out the official who did it consulted with him.
Meanwhile in Iraq the nice “moderate” Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani has a website and it even has an FAQ. Now take in this one:
Q: What is the judgement on sodomy and lesbianism?
A: “Forbidden. Those involved in the act should be punished. In fact, sodomites should be killed in the worst manner possible.”
So the Anglican church is concerned that it may have offended by publishing a harmless cartoon, yet not an iota of criticism that one of the most senior figures of Islam calls for homosexuals to be “killed in the worst manner possible”.
