A non-story

The SST has an article on how some high profile people are put into a special “VIP” category with ACC. All it means is that the thousands of staff who work there can not access their files – it is restricted to just three people.

This is entirely sensible, and I think the IRD does much the same thing.

But of course we have an “ACC advocate” who demands all records have the same high level of security. This is possibly one of the most stupid statements ever made. Think about it.

He has effectively called for every single file to be restricted so only three staff members can access it. Well this will mean a massive cost saving for ACC as it will be able to sack 1,000 or so other claims staff. Oh yes and it will also mean you will have to wait 14 years for a claim to be settled as only three staff will be able to access everyone’s files.
