If the ABs had lost in 1981

A fairly amusing alternate history of NZ by Bob Gregory, based on the All Blacks not winning the final 1981 test vs the Springboks.

Basically the sequence of events are:

* Muldoon loses in 1981
* McLay becomes National Leader in 1982
* Rowling/Tizard are PM/Finance Minister
* Economy tanks and Lange/Douglas sucessfully challenge in 1984
* Labour punished for disunity and defeated in 1984
* McLay becomes PM and Birch Finance Minister
* Anderton becomes Labour Leader in 1985
* Labour wins in 1987 election held one month after sharemarket crash
* Anderton PM, Clark Finance Minister, Prebble Labour Minister
* Winston Peters becomes National Leader
* Treasury Secretary Graeme Scott resigns in protest at Govt and joins NZ Part with Sir Bob Jones
* Labour re-elected in 1990, NZ Party gets 20%
* Bolger rolls Peters as National Leader, Peters starts attacking both National and Labour earning the nickname “the Whine Box”
* National wins in 1993, NZ Party gets 25% and 1 seat for Sir Bob Jones
* MMP introduced for 1996 election
* 1996 sees a National/NZ Party Government elected with Bolger as PM and Sir Bob Jones as Deputy PM

Not bad as these things go.
