A good night

Had a damn good 40th last night. It achieved its aim of keeping me so busy and having so much fun I never had a moment to sit back and actually reflect on the fact I am now 40.  Somewhat hungover – was doing okay until Francis turned up and insisted on tequila shots.

The birthday cake was superb – it was a giant Spider Pig – this will only make sense if you have seen the Simpsons Movie, but I have been singing the Spider Pig tune for the last few weeks, so most apt.

Had the party in the upstairs function room of the Backbencher and it was pretty perfect for 100 or so people.  Highly recommended for others looking to do a private function.

I’m out of Wellington, in the South Island for the next six days, so somewhat lighter blogging than normal.  Later this week taking a rental car from Nelson down the West Coast, and after a night there over Arthur’s Pass to Christchurch.  Looking forward to the drive.
