The NZ botnet controller

The Herald has named the 18 year old New Zealander who is thought to control what is called a botnet, or a zombie army, as Owen Wilson. This is a collection of around a million computers which have been infected so they can be remotely controlled.

Botnets are not a minor annoyance. They are responsible for serious crime and allow some very nasty criminals to spam, phish, DDOS, and harrass.

The Police, if they have sufficient evidence, should either throw the book at Wilson, or make him sign a good behaviour agreement and hire him for their e-crime unit.
