Have to say, I’m not that fussed on the “karma” system, or the ability to edit comments.

It’s nice to edit, but it enables someone to change completely what they’ve said.

Karma is ok if people say stupid things, but it tends to be pointless when stupid people actually say something worthwhile for once – they’re still marked down usually.

I heard this yestersday from someone who was in the UK. When our Dear Leader was making big noises in the press about meeting Gordon Brown it doesn’t seem like anyone actually followed up if the meeting actually went ahead.

Apparently she arrived at Gordon’s place and he wasn’t home. It turns out in was in Iraq.

How bad is it that world leaders would rather be in Iraq than met Helen?

“No no, we all make that mistake at first. I mean are you sure it’s the Prime Minister of NZ and not the Chancellor in drag? He keeps nicking in here pinching things. Says the tax surplus doesn’t keep him in the style to which he’s accustomed.”

“It’s definitely her, sir. I asked for identification and she showed me some NZ banknotes with her head on them. Said it was all very hush-hush till after the election, mind.”

“Oh crap. Look, I don’t have bloody time to listen to that woman. What is it with these New Zealanders? Some twat called Roger Douglas rang me on my mobile earlier and I couldn’t get a bloody word in edgewise, he just kept droning on in this monotone about some meeting he was having. It was like listening to a VW engine on the M1. A clapped out one. Tell her I’m at Parliament.”

“She has a motorcade Prime Minister… she’s likely to go there looking for you. Seems to believe she’s of some importance… I already tried to explain you weren’t here but she started yelling something about you ‘just waiting till she runs the UN and you’re after a resolution to bomb some towelheads’. I had to sit her down and give her a glass of sherry. Not the good stuff, of course.”

“Look I just can’t stand another evening of listening to that baritone woman blathering on. Last time she kept asking me if I would appoint some smug looking bastard as our Honorary Consul in Monaco.”

“And did you, Prime Minister?”

“Did I hell! I told her, I said ‘He’s paid you for the privilege. What do I get out of it?’ She promised never to send that agressive little Foreign Minister bloke round again but I secretly quite like him. I mean who else would turn up with an whole boot full of Duty Free?”

“Shall I perhaps say you’re in Iraq Prime Minister? Except you’ll have to stay at home for the rest of her visit and not go anywhere…”

“Happily! Just bring switch on the telly before the first race and refill my mug will you? And then show that bloody awful woman out…”

GWW: no, he doesn’t think he is part of the coalition government. But I thought that for many important constitutional positions that the opposition were consulted. Of course, in recent times Labour have lost any interest in consulting anybody on anything, so maybe this is just another symptom of that.

He’s a Green supporter, and his brain is addled by overindulgence in herb. He thinks he’s writing coherent thoughts, but he isn’t. Just like he thinks that his blog (whoar.co.nz, in case you didn’t hear) has something on it that is worth seeing. Fair enough PaulL. I guess most arguments are pointless on the Internet, and in a way, neither one of us wins. But in a more accurate way, I am the winner. I can type a coherent sentence and Phil assumes because I disagree with him, I must be righty, and also have no sense of humour. But he’s a green voter, and although people have made the watermelon comparison once tonight, I’d look to do it again- Philu’s head is like a watermelon – both are mostly composed of water, and neither one can make coherent arguments on the Internet.

Did I do that right?

Phil, your blog would get more visits if it didn’t sound like some sort of local-based Chav porn site.

D4J quite apart from the continuous flow of invective, you seem to be lacking a sense of humour.

Brownlee got in trouble a few years back for rough-handly evicting someone from a meeting and forcing them down the stairs. It was quite a humourous comment if you don’t take it (or yourself) too seriously.

Well the rain held off long enough yesterday for the Karapoti classic to not turn into a complete mud bath. Stephen Franks clocked a very respectable 3:48, Trevor Mallard clocked in at 4:32.

Mallard had the ‘Labour van’ there, and I bet he wondered why he got political flack when he used the event as a stage for political advertising. Unauthorised political advertising as well.
