I know it isn’t politically correct top say nice things about George Bush, but I think history might paint a different picture to the left wing bilge filled comments about him.
Clinton’s great achievements during his eight years are now looking increasingly tired. He was impeached for lying. Lying !!!!!!!! President of the USA ! As a role model Bill Clinton was a total disaster.
Laura Bush will go down as one of the better first ladies, not a political spin doctor but someone with humanity and grace. A big difference to Hillary Clinton, someone who never admits she is wrong and believes it was her right to be president.

I agree with Neil. Laura Bush is one of the most gracious first ladies to have been in the White house.
She is a supportive wife, a great mother, a teacher and a wonderful role model.

I think you can tell a lot about a man from his wife, and in particular the way he treats his wife.

Read some dirty linen on McCain on this topic in the Daily Mail this morning, – makes for pretty sickening reading.

I never liked Hilary because she stood by Bill and all his philandering, only because it was politically expedient to do so.

And now, she is using the “gender” issue as the reason she lost the nomination.

Ironically had she left Bill back then, she may have had a better shot at the nomination.

I don’t like Barack’s wife either, I find her incredibly negative and again – that whole “racism” thing doesn’t wash when you are both professionals living in a million dollar mansion. Yes America has been very bad for black Americans.

Another irony is I don’t think Obama can win the Presidency without Clinton, and wouldn’t that be a cosy menage a trois?

Certainly Helen must be uncomfortable about people in many Muslim countries reading this, and I would imagine that for the same reason our security services didn’t enjoy the headlines either, but do you also include Kiwis in your statement? What’s your reasoning? And your evidence?

Neil – You’re memory is a bit shaky there… Impeachment proceedings were brought against him for which he was acquitted. He even finished his term. Why do you not remember this?

You somehow think Bush hasn’t lied to you? Or is somehow lying about a war or the erosion of freedoms and liberty a lot better than lying about cheating on his hag of a wife?

I’d like to see Helen put on the spot over this……….I think Mr Farrar is right, she DOESN’T like it, but I’d like to hear her SAY EITHER that she DOESN’T like it, OR that she just loves our role in Afghanistan………..either way, would result in a delicious uproar, just a different uproar from different people…….poor Helen…….

Now that is what I call a great argument, devoid of any misogynistic, ideologically driven ad hominem attacks on a family member of some-one you happen to have an opinion on. I wish the uncaring bastards on the right would show such adult, mature and intelligent debating skills. The fact is that he was impeached, the truth has since been revealed (and acknowledged by Hillary his wife – who “forgave him”) but in a trend that is only to well-known here.. it was not in the “public interest” to find him guilty. (It was also stupid to impeach him in the first place, as he was and has been since , judged by his lack of integrity to admit his infidelity.

How about another headline for ya David. This from a very conservative and rural paper which is possibly at the heart of the National voter, “National’s vacuum” Ocuh! Otago Daily Times editorial today Ouch! Final sentence of the Editorial

Typically spineless leftwing comment. You might see these people as allies in your mission to destroy traditional western culture, but you will eventually discover them to be in the end, more interested in making their own culture dominant. When they eventually succeed in this ambition, you’ll finally get the medicine you deserve.

That mission was a three year operation. They infiltrated, trained, planned and prepared for it on Clintons time you knob. At least make an effort to timeline your bullshit. The Clintons all came out and trined to claim they knew about and told Bush it was going to happen but clamed up when someone asked them why they didn’t do anything.

I was under the impression the only paper Keith Locke reads is “The Militant” (the communist newspaper that they try to -ironically- sell outside the Auckland University student union buildings).

There is an obvious difference here: the first 3 are countries, the last is an ideology; this makes it inherently more subversive and uncontainable by a country’s borders; however thank you for agreeing that the threat of Fundamentalist Islam is as significant as Imperialist Japan or Nazi Germany.

Nice to see Sunshine(TM) (I am not a communist! ) unload his usual single neuron spark of the morning with that piece of far, far, far left criticism of Clinton.

As opposed to all those fabulous European leaders who watched the Balkan massacres power up for several years and still did fucking nothing to stop it. No blood on their hands I’m sure – well apart from the Major government who were of course evil, callous right-wingers.

This may come as a surprise to you Sunshine(TM) – I’m sure many things do – but the Germans and Japanese both spat on ‘Western culture’ once upon a time and proclaimed their own polities to be superior and wanted to impose those on the West. Things did not work out that way of course and now they’re unique parts of Western Democratic Capitalism.

We’re steadily working away on the Chinese too – the first big step being to get rid of all that collectivist claptrap that kept everyone poor and murderous for such a long time – non-politicised institutions are next with real democratic elections down the line. Same with the Middle East.

Of course we don’t expect any help from the likes of you, but that’s okay. You serve as a constant reminder of how awful the alternative is. You also demonstrate how useless resistance is – via your move from teaching your students to think your way to running a $100,000 / year design business.

Welcome to capitalism Sunshine(TM). Wonderful is’nt it. Of course you do have to share this with Reid – he has a unique take on the global situation that you may not be entirely comfortable with, even if your conclusions are the same. But who knows – those whose dreams have turned to ashes can get bitter and cling to the strangest things.

That’s right, Murray, that point needs a lot more penetration through the myth and bullshit (created by the anti-Bush MSM) over Sept 11 2001.

The vast bulk of the Al Quaeda preparation occurred on Clinton’s watch. And how many people are aware that Sandy Berger, the former National Security advisor under Clinton, visited the US National Security Archives and heisted a whole swag of sensitive documents out of the place before all the 9/11 investigators could get their mitts on them , and no-one but Sandy Berger and friends KNOWS what was contained in those documents? Where is the uproar from the MSM over THAT?

Chris, Clinton was impeached. The senate found him, narrowly, not guilty, in a party line vote. You might see this as a distinction without a difference, but it is not. As Wiki notes: “Upon the passage of H. Res. 611, Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998, by the House of Representatives on grounds of perjury to a grand jury (by a 228-206 vote) and obstruction of justice (by a 221-212 vote). … Upon passage of H. Res. 611, Clinton became the first elected U.S. president and the second U.S. president to be impeached, following Andrew Johnson in 1868.”
