This week, we discovered that sometimes it is better to keep silent.

Helen Clark appeared to cop a backlash after saying John Key had a “tantrum” during the TVNZ debate and he might shout at home but he was not welcome to do it at her.

So we polled our readers and around 4000 people gave their views.

Shout at home? Sorry, Helen Clark, it’s you who was voted most likely to sound off at home, with 42 per cent of the online poll, well ahead of Winston Peters’ 27 per cent and John Key on a very well-mannered 11 per cent.

Just get the feeling that most people have had a gutsful of her monotone, baritone, hectoring style.

She is just not nice, and warm.

Her latest snide remark about John Key hiding from the electorate is bizarre.

She is the Prime Mentalist for sure. She needs intensive therapy.

Re Helen’s deep voice, I’ve just had a thought that if she was an operatic character who would she be:

Fricka in Wagner’s Ring of the Nibelung – a nagging wife
Alberich also in the Ring – a negative character with no sense of humour
Hagen – Alberich’s son also a total misery guts.
Iago in Verdi’s Otello – a character who is downright nasty and an evil plotter.
Pizarro in Beethoven’s Fidelio – a corrupt character who is into inhibiting the rights of others.

New Zealands Pathetic Journalism…

1. The petrol price beatup in the herald the other day, saying we are paying too much for petrol.

BUT, accounting for exchange rate movements, and 4% inflation, we should be paying $1.88 today (removing inflation, the figure is $1.81 ). The herald were fishing for a story their journalism / mathematics was shoddy to say the least.

2. In todays herald.

“With a sum of $30 million, interest alone from a bank deposit account could earn the lucky punter over $2 million a year – or about $6000 a day.”

I reckon the figure is closer to $3500k a day, allowing for 39% tax. But , people will be going away saying wooooo 6k a day thinking money in the bag.

I can’t see that anyone has commented this definitely on the TGIF Article about the citizenship/ Labour party funding scandal YET, so here goes.

Once again, a Minister has over-ruled the perfectly justifiable actions of the staff of their department. Oh well, I suppose that is now just typical of them, and it doesn’t rate as an issue with the blind loyal 30%plus of NZ voters who would even vote for Helen if she was having political opponents bumped off or thrown into jail on pretexts like Chavez and Putin (hey, Russians and Venezuelans have just as much historical association with sound moral teaching as New Zealanders have, why should we assume we would be any better than them?).

The OTHER scandal, even if NOT connected to the above, is the point that Labour holds fundraising evenings after which they are left holding “anonymously donated” wads of cash to the tune of SIX FIGURES…..??????

O.K…….???????

Can anyone IMAGINE what would be happening in the media now if it was the NATIONAL Party doing this?

O.K., there is “speculation” that certain Asian Immigrants who have been granted citizenship by direct Ministerial intervention, have been “sighted” at some of the aforesaid “fundraising” evenings……

……so the MSM can be expected to give Labour “the benefit of the doubt” about whether there is or isn’t any “connection” between the two things…….?

Again, let’s imagine what the MSM would be doing if it was a National Party fundraising evening and some short-back-and-sides, clean-shaven, Christian-family-men prosperous-small-business-owner looking guys had been “sighted” within a mile of the event………

Hmmm… another rogue poll:

The poll puts National on 51 per cent and Labour on 33 per cent – figures virtually unchanged from a month ago.

Only the Green Party makes it above the 5 per cent threshold for winning seats in Parliament, rising two points to 7 per cent.

The biggest change has been in the preferred prime minister ratings, with Miss Clark moving up five points to 35 per cent. Mr Key is down two points to 43 per cent.

Mr Key said yesterday that the poll was encouraging, but there was still a long way to go, while Miss Clark made it clear she did not believe the result.

“That doesn’t reflect the trend in other recent polls,” she said.

And meanwhile, in that same linked story, Clark offers her *cough* professional opinion:

Miss Clark was scathing yesterday of Mr Key’s campaigning style, accusing him of hiding behind National Party stalwarts.

“I’m watching that other campaign – it’s all behind closed doors. Sometimes they get brave enough to walk through a shopping mall.”

Earth to Clark: we’re watching your campaign – it’s all about trust. Will you be brave enough to tell us the source of funds for your pork-barrel policies?

Oh – and on markets – remember this incident:

Tonight’s TVNZ and TV3 news coverage of the first day of campaigning was a clear win for John Key, with the networks showing the National leader attempting to cross the traditional political divide (which positions him as a unifier) by going to the Otara market, in contrast to their coverage of Helen Clark’s efforts to smear him and play class war (positioning her as a hater and wrecker). TVNZ highlighted Clark’s claim that Key’s day campaigning in South Auckland was a tribute to his power of self-delusion while TV3’s preferred quote from her was “I suspect he was a bit like a tourist there.He should have stuck to what he really believes and gone to the Northern Club.” What a nasty piece of work she came across as. This is not the way to win an election.

I am very, very confident Liarbour only has the Greens as their allies.

Maori aren’t focusing their campaign to childless students and gays unnafected by the anti smacking laws.

Only Turiana supports it and who’s heard from her.

After the official opening of the books (which I recently found out was made law by National, much to Liarbours chagrin)

Liarbour has nothing to offer but bribes and lies on tax cuts. None of these can be afforded, and students still owe a billion.

How hindsight is such a sweet gift to the older. Remember the ’75 Liarbour propaganda campaign quote

“Keep NZ Rowling” They’ve stopped the momentum. The economy rolls no more.
