Top ten debates
The Herald lists the top ten debates of the last decade. They call them as:
- Seabed and foreshore
- GE food
- Rugby Word Cup post-mortems
- Civil Union Bill
- Anti-smacking law
- Smoking ban in bars etc
- NCEA introduction
- Auckland Waterfront Stadium proposal
- Ahmed Zaoui detention
- Urerewa Terror Raids
I’m pretty staggered they did not list the debate triggered off by Don Brash’s Orewa speech. I would say that got talked about more in homes and workplaces than any other issue on that list, except the anti-smacking law possibly.
