Crossing the political divide

news.com.au reports:

CONTROVERSIAL politician Troy Buswell will today face the media for the first time since a Greens MP revealed their affair.

Mr Buswell, who gained international notoriety for sniffing a female staffer’s chair and drunkenly snapping another’s bra, stayed silent on the scandal yesterday, but is expected to comment at 11am (WST).

He was last night staying at the home of a friend and colleague, Energy Minister Peter Collier amid reports his wife had already walked out on him. They have two sons.

Mother-of-three Adele Carles told The Sunday Times she had a “stupid” affair with the 44-year-old Liberal earlier this year that lasted several months. Both were married.

What is surprising in this, is not that MPs have affairs, but in this case it was a conservative MP (and the Treasurer) and a Green Party MP.

Less surprising may be that it involved Buswell. His known antics include:

  • snapping the back of a female Labor party staffer’s bra-strap
  • sniffing of a chair of a female Liberal staffer
  • crawled around on his hands and knees pretending to be the Liberal staffer’s husband while groaning and writhing in sexual pleasure
  • sexist remarks to a retiring Liberal MLA
  • “squirrel gripping” (grabbing the testicles of) a Liberal MLA

Could you imagine an MP in NZ, surviving such antics? Western Australia though is a different place.
