How dare these arrogant bastards steal the Foreshore and seabed from New Zealanders? I am absolutely gobsmacked that this can be happening in New Zealand and there is almost no reaction.

Either Kiwis are so bloody apathetic or the majority actually WANT this hugely symbolic theft to take place. Which is it? Is this part of some ‘nationhood’ process gone off the rails where we are turning away from the concept of the ‘crown’ and instead embracing the concept of a race-based tribalist society where ownership of our country is in the hands of a few?

In any other country there would be armed insurrection against a government that tried to pull this treachery on its citizenry.

A strange, gullible piece in today’s Christchurch Press confirms that it is a hype bubble which put about that NZ has mineral resources are in value second per capita only to Saudi Arabia’s. (Yes this does include a World Bank report, but that undoubtedly drew on information from within the NZ bureaucracy.)

The two-page Press article centres on John Rutherford, a Christchurch lawyer whose business career has included many extremely high economic ambitions. These have ranged from building societies to founding a communications empire based on earth satellite stations and, I seem to recall, cable TV networks.

The Press says Rutherford made “vast fortunes” from these and a “charter airline business”. Strange Rutherford doesns’t seem to have been in the NBR rich lists. Nor do you hear Canterbury people talk about these fortunes.

Rutherford is behind ambitions to create what the Press says is a $30 billion a year industry dredging black-sand iron ore that allegedly is awaiting to be dug up on the seabed off the North Island. Rutherford also says Chinese are waiting to build a smelter in New Plymouth employing 10,000.

The Press quotes a person from a minor Australian prospector making the bold suggestion that “in just a few years” NZ with this resource could take a fifth of the world’s market for iron ore.

If you wade to the end of the article it is revealed that Rutherford’s dream has stalled because of apparent inaction (or uninterest?) from mining giant Rio Tinto, whom he has some deal with, and that there is a court case.

So the sea floor billions remain dreams at this stage.

The article goes on to talk of “$1 trillion” worth of lignite in Southland. It does not mention is of so low value and energy content it cannot economically be moved far from the beds, and can only be burned for electricity, or with vast subsidies, as in wartime Germany or boycotted apartheid South Africa converted into diesel.

Gerry Brownlee, Minister for Economic Development as well as Minister of Energy and Resources, should know Rutherford’s background and history. Brownlee’s electorate is in Christchurch, after all.

It would be useful for NZ to explore its land and seabed for economically harvestable resources. The hype being generated at present, however, will drive realists to scepticism and align them with Greenies. It will also cause the public increasingly to suspect the hype is being used politically — “forget about today, our economic problems will soon be over soon”.

Meantime the hype helps keep the kiwi dollar madly high and punishes our real economic stalwarts, today’s exporters.

There was no Maori “ownership”. Not until European settlers arrived and provided the government infrastructure to register title, and after that, there was never any registered title to the foreshore, or the rivers and their beds. ACT Climate Change spokesperson John Boscawen today called on Climate Change Issues Minister Hon Dr Nick Smith to stop misleading the public over the costs of his Emissions Trading Scheme.

“Earlier today Nick Smith said that ‘New Zealand would face a deficit of 22 million tonnes, or $446 million without the ETS’. This is misleading. Unlike the very real costs that will be imposed on all New Zealanders due to the ETS from July 1, the $446 million figure is purely hypothetical,” Mr Boscawen said.

I call on him to stick to the real costs and to spend his time justifying to ordinary New Zealanders why their electricity and energy costs are about to increase needlessly, rather than to issue meaningless press releases like the one today,” Mr Boscawen said.

Looks like Obama’s next big project is Wall Street. He has just sent this out to his email address list. This will be a tough lobby group to crack, they have plenty of government funds to fight the government with.

Not many dates left for any of us to attend. I don’t agree with the Public Domain concept especially if there is also to be Maori name attached to it. This will be re-interpreted over and over again over the years to mean something else whilst they try to wring more and more out of us. It should remain in Crown ownership. We had no problem with it before and I can’t see why we can’t go back to it.

Nothing in Tauranga, Whangarei ,Wanganui, Taupo, Rotorua, and most other places. Findlayson is a fraud, like the Judges that make up his mates. as is now being shown in the wool board case.

A major constitutional and ownership change being proposed on WE know best basis. Worse than Clark, Cullen, Graham et al. And don’t forget this guy is our Attorney General, i.e. our defender of our constitution and our citizenship.

This is the National Party repeat of Latimer, Graham and all. They are the National Maori Party in disguise.
I am hearing more discontent from customers presently over all this then way back in the 90’s when “maori issues” were the prime reason for Kiwi’s leaving for Aussie. Didn’t take long for the National Maori Party to reignite that exodus.

But we must not talk about it because that’s racist isn’t it.

Checked out the parking information , this is what they say on the official website….

Park N Ride
There is no Park N Ride facility this year. This has been replaced with pre-paid event parking which is within easy walking distance of the race circuit. These facilities are for pre-paid purchases ONLY. They are available from Ticketek.

To locate the pre-paid event parking, if coming from the north, travel along Te Rapa Rd. Turn right into Forest Lake Rd (at the traffic lights) at the intersection with Te Rapa/Forest Lake/Ulster St and Victoria St. Turn left into Ridout St, right into Maeroa Rd and there are signposts to direct you to the parking area in Maeroa School. Entry is approx 400m along Seddon Rd.

There is also a map, which really only shows you where you cannot park. Nothing about where you can park.

So, firstly they tell you there is no park n ride. Then, they tell you there is only pre-paid event parking , which is only available through ticketek. I checked ticketek, and there is NO information regarding this so mythical prepaid parking.

As far as I can figure, if you want to attend the Hamilton v8 race, you must park in some hamilton suburb then work out the closest bus stop and time table for that bus stop. And, reverse that for getting home.

What was wrong with park n ride?

Cha, if you knew anything about anything, which you don’t, you’d know that the Infowars crowd latch onto anything opposed to the administration of the day and that the Birchers operate similarly, being an operation completely separate to and pre-dating the TP umbrella. McManus and Jones have never coordinated or organised any TP protests, rather they leech on to justify their own existences. It’s a pity an organisation with the minds and resources of the SPLC can’t figure that out and instead decide to besmirch by association the TP by smearing them with the broadest “right” brush possible. It’s also sad they can’t figure out that the TP exists to protest the tax burden and where the axe falls and that small government does not equal no government. Then again, considering how small Mark Potok’s face is his nostrils must not let enough oxygen to his brain.

Looks like Obama’s next big project is Wall Street. He has just sent this out to his email address list. This will be a tough lobby group to crack, they have plenty of government funds to fight the government with.

Yeah, I suspected that Goldman Sachs beat up today didn’t just appear out of nowhere. I wonder if they’ll scrap the CRA…nah, thought not.

Latest Poll has the Lib Dems ahead, most in the last 2 days now have Labour third. The first ever TV debate seems to have changed intentions of a lot of people.

Vicking 2, I went to the meeting in Napier that evening. I had to go in the evening because I work. There were about 75 plus attended and about a third of that was Maori. The purpose of the meeting was to get public feedback according to Finlayson. I can tell you that Finlayson has no intention of “getting public opinion”. Pakeha were coming up with some good questions and Finlayson reacted in the defensive. He also said that the official language of New Zealand is “Maori and sign language.” Not english. There were also maori terminology that is going to be put into the new foreshore and seabed act that Finlayson couldn’t even interpret!! I was suprised with the poor turnout and discusted with Finlayson’s defensive attitude. If the public really knew what was happening, Key’s popularity would fall. This new Foreshore and Seabed act is a train wreck waiting to happen. This would be perfect for a public debate on TV sponspored by one of the network, probably tv3.
