Well the trougher is gunna stay troughing. That now makes two ultimate troughers we taxpayers are supporting in their dottage.

Mr Carter said he would strongly resist any bid to throw him out of Labour when the council heard disciplinary charges against him on Monday.

“I’m not one to run away from a fight.”

Mr Carter will remain in Parliament, on a backbencher’s salary and allowances package of $145,800 a year, till the next election.

My good friend and I are what we call post feminists…I don’t think there are too many post feminists around…As post feminists we openly , honestly , sincerely acknowledge that we were brainwashed in our teenage years..Feminism is , was and always will be brainwashing..it has had a devastating affect on children and families.

The same people are behind feminism as the ones I mention in the post above..the socialists , commies , anarchists etc…

Everyone could claim a degree of brainwashing if they wanted to. Clean one lot out and it just gets dirty again.

Feminism is blamed and credited for many things, with some justification. I think it’s best separated into two phases, feminism’s affect on families and feminism’s affect with no family (pre, post or nil). As with any major social change the affects are complex and a mix of positive and negative.

I doubt there’s many young females would want to go back to the days where a decent education was frowned on, and the main options were the typing pool with aspirations of a promotion to the boss’s knee, or the only way to enjoy guilt free sex, marriage. There are far more choices now for modern girls.

The real pressures come for those who (eventually) have a family. Many women found that when they chose to go out to work they then had to come home and do all the cooking and cleaning and child care, still. Freedom had become a bigger millstone.

Post family the benefits of the feminist revolution become more dominant again.

If the NZ government didn’t think an apology was warranted they wouldn’t make one. The widespread condemnation of Henry suggests an appropriate apology would have strong support.

General comments in a private email versus multiple derogatory remarks on public TV directed at specific people, once directly to the PM.

Murray, it wasn’t inadvertent mispronunciation.

In the clip, Henry deliberately mispronounces Mrs Dikshit’s name, despite being told at the outset that it is pronounced ‘Dixit”.

“The dip shit woman. God, what’s her name? Dick Shit. Is it Dick Shit … it looks like ‘Dick Shit’,” Henry says through bouts of laughter.

“It’s so appropriate, because she’s Indian, so she’d be dick-in-shit wouldn’t she, do you know what I mean? Walking along the street … it’s just so funny.”

Jesus, Henry was like a seven year old boy in that clip. My mates and I, we commented on and made fun of the name, sure. For about five seconds, and then we continued on with our lives. The “it’s appropriate because she’s Indian” comment is the most damning, and I think indicative of Henry’s personal ethics.

Paul Henry’s comments about Sheila Dikshit’s name are making headlines in India and John Key says it’s appropriate to apologise for any offense caused

Prime Minister John Key believes our High Commissioner has done the right thing by apologising to India’s foreign ministry over Paul Henry’s racist slurs.

The TVNZ Breakfast presenter’s comments have hit Delhi – where there’s outrage over his ridiculing of the pronunciation of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s name.
The furore is leading every news programme.

Mr Key says New Zealand’s relationship with India is important and he wouldn’t want to see that compromised. He says because the comments have made it on to the front of the Times of India it’s appropriate to apologise for any offense caused.

Not sure why he is saying the comments only became a problem when it became hot news in India.

That’s bollocks Pete. Would you use the same logic to link Jacinda Ardern and Simon Bridges to Henry’s comments? After all, they have a weekly spot, as Did Darren Hughes and Paula Bennet. a) The Dikshit incident has become an international diplomatic issue, that involves our government and Key
b) the GG comments were made directly to Key, so Henry closely associated Key with what he said

Regarding th Scott Guy murder.

Oct 08. somebody torches the old Guy house and burns it to the ground.

Jan 09 somebody breaks into the new house, vandalises it, breaks windows, smashes holes in the gibboard.

June 09. somebody burglarises the house, more than once.

Somebody was pissed off.

What are the odds that somebody drove from say Wellington, up that quiet country road, on the off chance
nobody was home to do these crimes ?

or would it be more likely it was someone close who knew nobody was home ?

July 10. Scott killed, 3 of 8 dogs dissapear.

Maybe if someone sniffed around the vicinity they could smell a big fat red herring, stinking to high
heaven. Maybe it could be buried with 3 dogs. Maybe in the very close vicinity.

Then again, if those dogs are found in an orange datsun, that could solve the Mona Blades murder.
Or if they are found in a greeny/blue Vauxhall, that could solve the Jennifer Beard murder.
If somebody with extra large bloodstained feet has them that could solve the Angela Blackmore murder.
If its someone with access to a cupboard in Queen St that could solve the Kayo Matsuzawa murder.
If someone who was ripped off in a heroin deal has them that could solve the Mellory Manning murder.
If its someone who has a .22 that matches the planted cartridge, the Crewe murders could be solved.

It’s become McCully’s business too.

“They reflect the views of only one media commentator – who has already been censored for other racist and unacceptable comments – and certainly not the New Zealand Government or people,” he said.

Mr McCully this morning issued a statement saying he would also indicate to the Indian Government that Henry’s comments were the actions of one person.

He said importance of speech was important in New Zealand.

“However it is always regrettable when a prominent individual abuses the freedom of expression, which is one of our basic rights, to cause offence to others.

“That is especially the case when the person offended against is a prominent public figure in another country.

“The New Zealand High Commissioner has apologised for the offence caused. That is appropriate. The actions of Mr Henry in this case can only be described as gratuitous and insulting.”

But Mr McCully said the TVNZ operated independently.

“Any action against Mr Henry is entirely a matter for the company, or for the Broadcasting Standards Authority should a complaint reach that body,” he said.

I think McCully’s got it right.

No Key cannot get away from the fact that TVNZ is a state broadcaster and this is now a diplomatic problem for him, so far Key has been extremely weak on the whole episode and it is clear that he is out of his depth on this one. Hopefully he has had time to get his polsters to make a decision for him before the fall out becomes more of a problem.

Henry is a tosser and if he worked for a private broadcaster then your third party argument may be valid. Some will argue the Government should not interfere with the media but this is not journalism or reporting of news it is a TV front man making insulting racist statements like and behaving like a 11 year old school boy sniggering with his mates.

The Comments about Sir Anand were poor and the suspension was in my view appropriate for that. However TVNZ have little option but to sack Henry over the Diksit comments.

That’s the main story on the front page of today’s Christchurch Press.

The head of DOC, Al Morrison, says NZers are destroying the environment. He blames especially the farming that provides us with a living and the cash for DOC to flit around the country in helicopters trying to undo ropes on whales and shift native birds around.

One of those cited in support is Lincoln University lecturer Ann Brower This American brought to NZ some of the Green fanaticism that is closing public grazing land to American ranchers. She has been prominent in the movement that led to much NZ high country being closed to merino grazing – and the creation of jobs for DOC’s helicopter greenies to hound tahr off the tops. Helen Klark was an ally in having this country preserved for the tramping fraternity, who the lefties much prefer to common old farmers and hunters.

Here’s what Brouwer says in the paper:

You can’t count on the private sector unless they are mandated to do something.

She adds that relying too heavily on business is risky.

Brower’s list of publications on the Lincoln web site includes articles such as Globalisation, contest and paradox in a continuing cultural landscape: Land reform in the New Zealand High Country published in the Danish Journal of Geography and a 2008 book published in Nelson, NZ Who owns the high country?

Even Federated Farmers chief Don Nicolson questions in the Press article whether “humans have gone to far”.

C’mon Don, stand up to the fuckers. What will your members thing of this?

As for the newspaper, we’re suckers, paying to have this daily rubbish thrown up our drives.

Italy move to ban the burka

Italy is set to become the next country in Europe to issue a burka ban after the government presented a draft proposal to parliament.

A group of MPs from the Northern League, part of Silvio Berlusconi’s ruling right wing coalition, proposed the bill, which states that burkas should be banned in Italy, not for “religious reasons but for security reasons”.

The move comes a month after the French parliament approved a ban on wearing a full-face veil in public.

The proposal would amend a 1975 law, introduced amid fears of home-grown terrorism, which punishes with hefty fines and up to two years in jail people who cover their faces with anything preventing their identification by police.

Until now an exception has been made for the wearing of the Muslim veil on the grounds of religious freedom.

The Northern League said it wanted the law changed so that it included Italy’s burgeoning population of 1.2 million Muslim immigrants.

This is not really a ban. It’s removing an exception to an existing law.

police pursuit from Mount Maunganui to Te Puke has ended with the death of the two occupants of the pursued four-wheel drive utility vehicle.

Mike says the vehicle had been travelling in excess of 50km/h in a residential area.

“The vehicle was pursued by police towards Papamoa,” says Mike.

Henry’s racial outburst has exposed problems in the running of TVNZ news – and the PR department – as the broadcaster fights to keep digital channel TVNZ 7.

There is no good time for a racial slur. But this week’s comments from the management have exposed the tabloid sensibility and systems at TVNZ.

I hear there is deep concern about Henry and TVNZ’s slow reaction.

More to the point, government politicians are furious that Key got dragged in to Henry’s performance, raising questions about his attitude to racism.

The Wall Street Journal says today that Australian miners and farmers, however, have already started to warn that the Australian dollar’s climb is crimping exports, making them less competitive with American commodities.

For NZ, it’s good to be tied closely to a booming economy like Australia. On the other hand world currency traders seem to overlink the two countries, and the kiwi dollar gets towed up with the aussie dollar. At present this looks like strangling NZ exporters.

I have nothing but contempt for these gutless weasels who always suffix any declaration about freedom of expression with a “BUT”… especially when that exception includes some spineless subjugation to the dangerous PC mantra that nobody should ever be exposed to anything that might “offend” them.

No free country needs these kind of people as its representatives. Neither do we need them amongst us as citizens with their brain damaged wheedling and vociferous white anting of our freedom. They should all just fuck off to North Korea and the sooner the better.

But one portion of the discussion hurls a monkey-wrench into those plans. When Amanpour addresses the ideas of Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary, she has the audacity to question his ideas about Islamic domination. Choudary proclaims that he disagrees with the entire focus of the segment, and argues that the notions of moderate Islam or extremist Islam are nonsense. There is only Islam, whose followers “submit to the creator.” Then, in an effort to convey that Islam can live in peace with the Western world, he concludes, “We do believe as Muslims that the east and the west will one day be governed by the Sharia. Indeed we believe that one day the flag of Islam will fly over the White House.”

gotta love this.

So a Muslim woman in the panel decided to take Choudary to task for his reckless and inflammatory statements, and she went on to instruct him that Islam is a faith of pluralism, and that it provides an allowance of other faiths to exist in a state of equal importance.

Had she been speaking to the panel’s Christian reverend in that moment, she likely could have won the argument just as she has probably won countless others; by merely saying, “I know better than you Christians do about Islam. I’m a Muslim.” But my guess is that she forgot that she was speaking with someone who had given far more study to the Quran and Hadith than most Christian theologians.

To her assumption of Islamic tolerance of other faiths and legal systems, Choudary simply suggests that she knows nothing of what Islam desires or requires; she doesn’t even have the good sense to cover herself. Doesn’t she know that the Quran forbids her appearance in that way? So in his eyes, she is not truly a Muslim, as true Muslims are not granted the liberty to sift through Islamic doctrine and select their preferred methods of religious practice. He even makes the comparison that she is a Muslim in the same way that a person who occasionally eats beef burgers is a vegetarian.

And she cannot argue. The holy book of her faith does explicitly forbid women to present themselves as she does.

This exchange reveals that cleric Anjem Choudary practices fundamental adherence to Islam in an effort to live in reflection of and submission to the prophet. Those Muslims who believe in religious autonomy and peace only do so because Western concepts like personal freedoms have somewhat permeated the contemporary practice of a religion that mandates universal submission. And to the Muslims who read the Quran literally, such augmentation of Quranic instruction is a sin.
