Actually, the term as you describe it is “Khyber” , not Kaiser. It is taken from Cockney slang – eg.

Sky rocket = pocket.
Frog ‘n’ toad = road.
Khyber Pass (as between Afghanistan and Pakistan) = arse.

I guess meanings gets corrupted with time.

No wonder us Catholics have to keep putting you fundie Christians right. 😉

An elderly, Dutch friend of mine who lived under the Nazis..saw people being murdered in the streets outside her home etc…..saw the Obamanation on TV the other day , saying..”You know who I am”…..She said he was EXACTLY like Hitler , so Donald may be in with a chance.

– The home and office of her lawyer Houtan Kian has been raided and ransacked by security forces and all documents pertaining to our mother’s case confiscated
– The authorities have been busy establishing new trumped up murder charges against our mother and denying the stoning sentence for adultery, which has yet to be officially rescinded, and
– We have been receiving threats because of our interventions on our mother’s behalf

Some random stuff:

(a) Go the ‘Naki!
(b) It was funny to see on the news last night that Dikshit’s name was pronounced about five different ways by various people and commentators. Most Indians, however, seemed to go with “Dick-shit”. Funny that.
(c) To my mind, Henry should be being singled out not for making fun of the name, but for his comment afterwards “It’s appropriate because she’s Indian”. It’s like a presenter on TV saying about the name Smallcock “It’s appropriate because he’s Asian” (i.e. inappropriate and a little racist)
(d) Whether he is in fact being singled out for that, who knows?
(e) Viking2 is wrong in saying that Henry didn’t expressly denigrate the GG as not a “real New Zealander”. He did, and he meant it. The fact that he didn’t know that he was born in NZ, as a TV host interviewing politicians for a living, is a sorry indictment of the shallowness of our news.
(f) There is no way in hell the NZ government should be apologizing for all of us for the comments of one guy.
(g) Made the best apple pie this morning.
(h) Len Brown? Good luck Auckland.
(i) I am not a witch.

As I recall there are 3 castes, each with a different coloured spot on the forehead. The ruling caste. the merchants and the lower caste that did all the shit stuff like cleaning sewers and herding cows and all. They were called the untouchables because they were full of disease from their occupations.
Actually if you ask any owner of a brothel they will tell you that all the Indians are full of disease.

Probably if you Google Indian Caste system you will learn more.
Oh and yes its ancient.

So what’s “Google,” Viking?

Seriously, I was fishing for responses from any readers who have a deep understanding of the cultural origins, and that’s not that easy to google, for you tend to get dry historical factual accounts rather than the particular insights I was interested in.

I’m interested in knowing why a highly intelligent sophisticated society like much of India is becoming indeed has now become, persists in this to be frank, primitive interpretation of our fellow travelers.

The mystery to me is and perhaps it’s not a mystery to others, is why with India’s deep philosophies and traditions, does it persist in this cruelty?

If you can suggest a few good keywords however, I’m all ears.

The celebration of VVS Laxman’s marvellous match-saving innings on Tuesday is something to behold. It’s Diwali come early (Christmas is the closest translation).

His name was reportedly the biggest trend in tweeting on the planet in the finals stages of the first Test against Australia.

I notice that i have been in some posters minds again, even while not around – how nice. Thank you guys.

Fala – I don’t think my kids think they had a deprived upbringing. One would probably get along very well with redbaiter, the other is more to my inclinations. One is well ensconced in very successful architect practise in Auckland, the other very successful in IT in Melbourne. Heard today that Obama is vetoing a bill passed by Congress that makes foreclosure easier for the banks. Just as foreclosures are suspended in many states because of lax procedures. How on earth do these people, the mainly the enemies of the vast majority of US citizens, keep getting elected?

Oh, I know, money and a sense of hopelessness. Ah, the Land of the Free.

Will John Banks get the hint and move on? Christchurch will be looking for a new mayor in 2013, as they would have this time if Mother Earth hadn’t handed Bob a gift, so John, do us all a favour – shift.

There was no slur against the present GG merely a fair question about his citizenship. A fair question that many would not know the answer to. It also seems that many Kiwi’s couldn’t have named the GG anyway. (about normal for Kiwi’s)

Viking2: I suggest you take some of your own advice regarding listening with 2 ears and eyes. And probably the mouth shut bit as well. So many things you could defend him on legitamately, and you decide to try and convince people he didn’t actually say what he said. Good work.

How you manage to display so much arrogance on such minimal displays of logic is astounding.

At the present moment people are unusually expectant of a more fundamental diagnosis; more particularly ready to receive it; eager to try it out, if it should be even plausible. Not, indeed, immediately, but after a certain interval; for in the field of economic and political philosophy there are not many who are influenced by new theories after they are twenty-five or thirty years of age, so that the ideas which civil servants and politicians and even agitators apply to current events are not likely to be the newest. But, soon or late, it is ideas, not vested interests, which are dangerous for good or evil.
